Buzzbait blade color

Featured Replies

I am looking at Cavitron buzzbaits I will get a 3/8th oz with a black skirt but not sure what color blade to get. I will be fishing with it on days with cloudy skies and mostly clear to stained water. What color blade would work best?

I personally like my black on black cavitron and use it for similar conditions as you except the water I fish is more on the murky side than clear/stained

I like a gold bladed buzzer. But I also like black or red plated ones as well. Silver is okay too.

I use mostly silver double bladed buzzers and rely on skirt color.

I don't think blade color has much effect as they are what's making the noise and surrounded by the "propwash". The bass usually doesn't have a whole lot of time to study the bait as it is whizzing by overhead and what he will see is usually the skirt if that. Use whatever color you have the most confidence in and you'll be fine.

black/black cavitron is my go to buzzbait.  Also throw white/chart with silver or gold blade, white/black with copper blade.

I prefer black, but will throw silver on a sunny day and gold on an overcast day sometimes. All catch fish, but I fish the black/black the most.

I almost always go with silver.

The major role of color is to enhance 'visibility, but a buzzbait is like a loud boombox.

Colors like black, brown, dark-green and red are all good choices, because dark colors are most visible in muddy water

and in low-light conditions. In clear water and in good lighting, bass do not need any help from color.

Notice a few mention the Cavitron BuzzBait.

Must be a decent bait. Who sells them BTW ?

Red, purple, green, pink.... it really doesn't matter.  Buzzbaits are reaction baits and the fish is keying on the noise the blade is creating.  At best, it might see the skirt color.

I don't know if blade color on a buzzbait really makes a difference. All mine are chrome or whatever you wanna call it with white skirts and my fish don't seem to care.
