ol monsters..

Featured Replies

yep , the bait monkey made me do it. i picked up my first pack of zoom ol monsters. they had a 10 count bag and a 9 count bag. one of them had some indents on the tail while the others didnt.  :-?

the ones i grabbed were the 9 count green pumpkin kind with the smooth tail...along with some strike king plastics dicks had on clearance for $.97 a bag.

but yeah , im curious. what size hooks do you guys use with these beasts? 5/0 ewg?

5/0 seems a bit to big. I think 2/0 - 3/0 would be good.

What type water will you be fishing?

2/0 or 3/0 for a 10" worm?  :-?

funny you ask what im fishing because i dont even know yet. i went to get my license but im not a NC resident yet , and when i become one , the non-resident license wont work and ill have to pay to get a resident one. it was a bait monkey type thing.

Use a 5/0 ewg thats what others told me and thats what i use :P

2/0 or 3/0 will be to small for sure

Your kidding right!?! An Ol' Monster needs at least a 5/0 EWG!!!

2/0 or 3/0????? w-t-f lol, youd never get a hookset.i dont think i even use a 3/0 on my 7" worms .i use a 5/0 texposed and i will sometimes use a 6/0 nose hooked...love big worms, culprit 12" and bps 13" are my go to now that the summer heat is on.

I used these today in a local ponds and caught quite a few with a 4/0 EWG but missed some so I will be bumpin it up to a 5/0 EWG

ill give the 4/0 and 5/0 ewg a shot. thanks guys.  :P

and btw , have any of you guys also noticed the differences between the monsters? like with the number of baits per bag and the appearance of the tail?

depending on the conditions, I  will use anywhere from a 4/0 to 6/0.

X2

x3 and use a 5/0 if the bait is thicker.Owner offset shank worm hooks get the job done well.

That is a beast of a worm.  Just go all out and tie on a tow hook.  14160_lg.jpg

Seriously though.  You will do good with the 5/0 ewg.

I am digging Owners also, I think it was 4Bizzle that I noticed the brand from. Sometimes their wire mil is a bit thick, do they make thinner old style ?

Owner Oversize 7/0 for any worm 10" or bigger.
