what is the purpose of a black zara spook?

what is the purpose of a white zara spook?

what is the purpose of a gold zara spook?

its just another color option thats available :P plus, some baitfish are transparent.

I don't know what the purpose is, but I've had great luck with clear spooks, torpedoes & chugbugs.  The clear torpedoes are killer in small ponds.

there really are transparent baitfish? ive only seen those little guppies that are transparent..never a baitfish..maybe a pic?

Clear is a killer on sunny days for me. Pop r's and Torpedo's. I dont have a clear spook, but I am sure it's a bad mo fo too.

I don't know the purpose but it catches fish like crazy, it and black are the two best colors I have.

When you consider that many baitfish (shad, shiners, etc.) are silvery to reflect their surroundings and become less visible from below, the clear spook starts to make more sense.  Clear lures still create a silhouette which the fish can see, but the silhouette is not as pronounced as a solid lure color.  The effect is more natural looking on sunny days than many colored lures would be.

i don't know any specific baitfish that are transparent, but most small fish are somewhat transparent, regardless of species.

heck, it could even simulate a small school of those tiny transparent minnows fleeing.

i think the main attracting factor in clear topwater baits is that fact that its up there making a commotion, but the bass can't really tell what it is, so it instinctively attacks to investigate.

The benefit of a transparent topwater lure is to downgrade visibility.

Though this doesn't apply to murky water or night fishing, a transparent or translucent lure in clear water,

makes it harder for bass to get a good look. For this same reason, it's also good to use extra speed in clear water.

My buddy swears by a clear Baby Torpedo. He actually just ordered two more, one for a spare for him and one for me!

He caught this with one a few weeks ago at our local small pond.

Weighed in at 6lbs.

To catch fish

It makes it more about the sound and vibration than the color of the bait.

Nice fish!

They have a huge selection of colors for topwater baits. I believe it's all about the action when it comes to topwater, especially in stained/murky water.

I bought the Spook Jr (clear) thinking about the fish not getting as good a look at it. My thinking :-/, it would work in any color water for the same reason. Not so???

I agree, a clear lure would be more difficult to see in any water color or any lighting condition.

Obscuring the lure is most beneficial in clear water, but it can be counterproductive in muddy water and at night.

In very low-light situations, it's usually better to pull the other way by making the lure 'more' visible.

For muddy water and at night, Opaque black is favored because it offers the best silhouette (sky contrast).

They can help you get topwater action on clear days or in extremely clear water with finicky bass.
