It's Great To Have Soft Water!

At this time last year, my lakes had surface water temps in the 30s and were about a week away from icing over. This year, I've still got 46 degree surface water temp and fish active enough to hit a lipless crank. Thank goodness for soft water!

22" - 5.7 pounds. Not a huge bass...but any bass is more than I was getting last year!

No snow or freezing temps in the forecast for the next 10 days so maybe soft water for the rest of this year - life is good up on the Cumberland plateau! B)

Congrats !

That RES certainly looks tiny next to that gapping Maw !

Additionally, and this happens every winter - I am officially envious ~

Thanks guys! I went back to that same cove this evening - nobody home. BUT, the good thing is that when you cast, you hear a "splash"..............instead of the lure skidding across the ice !

Another one - from the same spot as the other day - same bait - a RES. Only 20" / 4.16 lb but ain't it wonderful that there is still catchin' to be had! This is very cool - I had hard water about now the last 3 years and this year I still have water temps in the 40s - 49 today !!

This one is for A-Jay - I'm trying to give you another fix buddy...

And another one - one cove over from the first two. They're getting smaller but at least I'm not pulling them through a hole in the ice...

20" - 3.81 pounds.

Why am I jazzed about fish that aren't that big compared to what many folks catch? Because the photo below shows what that cove looked like last year at about this time... I caught today's fish standing at the spot marked by the red X :lol:
