Skinny Dippers

Featured Replies

Was hoping to get some input on these baits. I just recently got my hands on a few, and plan on getting my hands on a few more during this off season. They look good in the bag, and I was wondering how you guys fish them. I'm guessing they would work well weightless fished like a fluke, or with a weighted swimbait hook like other soft bodied swimbaits. Any input on successful rigging techniques with this bait would be appreciated.

I have not used the Skinny Dipper, but I have used the Cane Thumper which is close to the same bait. I use these as a trailer on swimjigs, and fish them weightless like a fluke. Caught some nice bass in the spring this year with these techniques. Good Luck.

Almost forgot to mention that they work very well on a Scrounger Jighead as well.

I use Skinny Dippers a lot in some of our local lakes that have some big shallow areas that are very weedy. I have caught a lot of good fish on the Houdini and Gold Digger colors. I have several bags of the California 420 as well. I don't catch as many fish on that color, but the fish I have caught on it have been larger fish.

I fish these on a Owner weighted swimbait hook. These baits will go through just about anything with out getting snagged if you rig them right. I have also fished them on weed edges with a jig head and had good success. My buddy fishes them on a football jig head and has caught some hawgs! I've never fished them weightless like a fluke, but they do work very well as a swim bait trailer.

The Little dipper makes for an excellent swim jig trailer.

Like most boot tail baits, they don't work well without weight. The best way I've found is Owner swimbait hooks.

I just use a screw in bullet weight and a superline EWG Gammy 4/0 hook. But yes, they have there time and place where they outfish everything else.

Swimmjig trailer yes, not so much on the scrounger. Tends to negate the action of the jighead!

I use them on the scrounger jig head all the time gville fish love em especially the white trash color
