Put 40 live Louisiana crawfish into my double secret pond. They went into the grass so they have a chance to make it and add another snack item for the bass.

Speaking of bass, I caught over 20, ranging from dinks to one four pounder and two three pounders.

They hit everything other than a buzzbait. They would hit my frog but no interest in the buzzbait.

All fish were returned healthy back into the pond so they will be there for future fishing adventures.

It was nice to finally wet a line and catch some bass.

Crawfish boil tomorrow so I will gouge myself like a bass on wonderful Louisiana crawfish!

Was hoping this was part of your plan! Nothing like a good boil! Bass may enjoy them, but so do I....

Oh and a minor fishing report...Given up on bass fishing for now at my spot on Buggs. Been back and forth on good days for sunfish(bait) and catfish. One 12 and one 15 lb catfish within 10 minutes of each other one day and otherwise 5 lbs has been our normal.

Started my boat this past weekend, but have had zero time to get out on the water. Hoping to do so in the next couple of weeks. Working out of town is a pain, but after 20 months on this project we're about done.

Bigbass, I was fishing at a private farm pond where I am the only one fishing it.

oh that nice i fishing chickomony river and north anna river at falls hole caught a 3 pound small mouth out there the other day the water does feel bad and the guy that said im a little kid im not im bout to be 17 thanks though

Bigbass, don't get the wrong idea, Troy and I are only elbowing you a bit! All of the guys here are more than willing to help a fellow angler out. Common courtesy and etiquette here usually dictate you have to give a little to get a little. You did the right thing in offering a little info about the Chick and North Anna to let everyone know you are willing to share info. It's all about having fun and we just like to give the young guns a little hard time every once in a while!! Welcome to the forums and have fun fishing!!

I've been catching some nice bass lately on frogs and I was killing some time fishing in a neighborhood pond and caught around a 10 pounder (the second and third picture) on a Lake Fork Magic Shad. No one was with me so I had to do the awkward self picture. I've been fishing frogs and swimbaits a lot lately and I've been successful. Bait balls are appearing and bass are blowing them up. Locate the shad right now and you're good to go.

Oh and the first picture was pretty much taken to prove the Lake Fork frog trailer hooks work. It was the only thing that hooked that bass and I've had that happen a few times. Definitely improves hook up ratio.

Those are nice fish and I'm sure it was fun on a frog! First priority, get a scale!!

First of all, thank you for the pics and the info, thats the way we like to go, Really nice job with everything !!!

That is a big fish and a very nice job you did catching it, but to be polite about it, it does not look to be a 10 lb fish, I remember my first big bass of good size, and I am not saying that one is your first big one, but I thought it to be much bigger than it really was, and well, lets just say there are some critics that will make you feel small.

Do yourself a favor and get a scale, that way you take out the guess work.

I hit up Chick lake today for a few hours, I fished way upstream past the second no wake zone then drifted back down. I decided to work on my jig fishing this year so I was throwing a black and blue boo jig primarily, caught three in the few hours I fished one was about 4 pounds which is my best for the year the other two were just right around a pound. Love fishing the Chick

The Chick is awesome, though my one time there I was skunked.

I took my wife with me, though, and she loved being out there so much she was finally okay with how much money is spent on fishing and fell in love with being out on the boat.

caught this five pounder yesterday morning on a kvd 2.5 sexy shad at smith mountain lake. It looks like something bigger tried to eat it. You can see the marks on both sides. Had to have been something huge, like a flathead or something.

I think there are some pretty big cats in that place, some that could swallow a VW bug, lol, I talked to an underwater welder and has dove SML, they do not go down without a speargun escort he tells me, the first time he dove there he said he came straight back up before he reached his destination for inspection.

Wether or not thats the truth, who knows, but as big and deep as that place is and by looking at your fish, it looks to be plauseable.

there are some big flatheads in smith mountain lake. probably 6 years ago i was fishing off a dock with an old zebco 33 before i got heavily into fishing and hooked into one that had to go 40+ lbs. i got it to the surface, it went into a death roll and snapped my 8lb line lol...

it could have also been a big musky that tried to eat that bass, theyre in there, i caught a fingerling once...

If the cat's get big I can only imagine how big the musky are !!!

But looking at the markings they are more rounded like a cat fish mouth, I would think if a large muskey had a hold of it there would be no tail at all or much more damage to the fish.

I have heard stories about 8 foot cats. one nght my friend and I were bass fishing with topwater baits and he caught a 3 foot long catfish because he landed it and i held it up to my waist and its tail was touching the boat and i'm 6'3".

8 feet would definitely be just that, a story. Catfish, while growing up to 4 - 5' in length, tend to be just as large in girth at their biggest.

but on another note, from the looks of the bottom of her tale and as skinny as she was, it looks like she just dropped her eggs.

Nice fish and that is some weird scaring around the middle. I think we should all just start saying "I caught a nice fish today" and not put an actual weight guesstimate with it! Fish On that is a beauty and I would love to catch that size fish any day but lets be honest, It's not 5 pounds.

Those people who run lines like that are just trying to eat and would probably still eat a dead one. They also have the same rights to the fish that you do....
