Actually we got very few compared to what it looks like we have registered. C'mon, Guys!!!!! It'll be a blast.

getting my kayak this Friday, crazy two years ago only used worms and simple rod and reel, and now fishing has taken over my garage..

centreville has some good spots, you guys should try lakeside next to the cinemas

WooHoo! Snagged a "middle of the week" day off. SML here I come.

Haven't been neat water in four weeks. School started back and I got landlocked. Hoping for a weekend run.

really? oh wow I haven't fished there since I moved to Bristow, and I never had property management ask me anything, I see kids fishing there all the time. theres a man made pond next to lifetime fitness that I seen people fish during the weekends.

Yes, I fished at Lakeside a handful of time years back. I also fished at the pond next to lifetime. I haven't been in the past 2 years after they drained it and filled it back up. It was killer before they drained it for repairs. Fished at 7pm-8pm one night and caught 14 LMB each weighing 2.5lb+. Largest being 4lb 12oz.

What also ticks me off is the people that fish there and leave a bunch of trash, corona bottles, trash bags, worm containers. :mad10:

been catching fish left and right at my local honey hole this size as of late.. any guesses on the weight?!

If I have to guess I would say roughly around the 3 lb mark give or take, but man, those are some good looking fish, really nice job spoon !!!!

Water looks a little weedy too, you fishing the holes or finding them along the edges?

just been fishing them along the edges. with a senko

No reports???? Come on, bass are starting fall patterns and should be rippin' them. Lipless cranks, senkos, flukes, jigs

I am still catching bass: lots of them too. Hunting Run, Sandy River Res, tidal Potomac, and Briery Creek.

It was quite cool this morning.

A few in the 7lb range would make my day's for sure LOL !!!

I have not been fishing much at all this year, when I did make it out, it has been for very short periods of time during the day, my running total for the year so far is a whopping 3 fish which came on a trip to the river near my area LOL !!!

Glad to hear your putting a hurting on them though buddy !!!

I expected nothing less from you buddy, awesome job !!!!!

Before I go I have a question for ya, just how in the world do you keep track of over 2000 fish?

Shucks, I almost forgot I caught those three LOL !!!

I have a clicker counter on the boat and I have a spreadsheet on my computer to record the results.

^^lol. Thats just nuts!

  • Super User

I've been keeping catch records for about 40 years. It sure is easier with a computer than a notebook-LOL

how many times have you fished this year? and is this all bass? if so nice!

  • Super User

PHEW !!!

Talk about a case of hand cramps !

If you average 2000 a year, X 40 years , DUDE THATS 80,000 FISH !!!!!!!

Since you have your records, would you mind sharing with the rest of us the 40 year total ?

  • Super User

I am not going to go thru all my notebooks to get a count. No, I haven't caught over 2,000 every year for 40 years.

Some recent years:

2006--2,320

2007--2,537

2008--3,197

2009--3,100

2010--2,769

2011--2,430

Being retired and not fishing on crowded weekends has its advantages.

A couple of older years

1985--1,024

1994-- 766

jay-b, I have fished 57 days this year and my lowest number is ZERO and the highest is 105.

I only count the bass. The rest I catch are trash fish as far as I am concerned.

  • Super User

Still, thats pretty darn good results !!!

If my math is right thats over 18,000 fish in 8 years, 18,143 to be exact, I don't care how you look at it, it is still amazing, congrats !!!!

If retirement has that kind of advantage... I am putting in for early retirement HA HA !!!

Thanx for sharing Wayne !!!

Do you think your understanding of electronics have been a factor? If so how big? or how little?

Edit : That question may be misleading, I am not questioning your skills at all, I think the totals speak for themselves as to how good of an angler you are, electronics don't catch fish, you do.

  • Super User

Good question, two things have produced those results--a boat and a sonar unit.

I remember reading about some angler a long time ago that stated the only reason he got a boat was to have a place to mount his sonar unit.

Since I got the first sonar unit sometime in the 1960's--it was a Shakespeare flasher that attached to the top of a 12V dry cell battery with a suction cup transducer mount, I have convinced myself to get away from the bank and fish where most of the fish are. With any sonar unit you can find underwater depth changes that may be where the fish are---points, creeks, humps, steep drops, etc.

What that does is give you the opportunity to fish for mostly undisturbed fish since a majority of fisherpersons can't seem to get further from the shore than they can cast.
