In a recent note, I decided to return the Diawa TDPro and rod. I decided to try out the Abu Garcia Revo SX on a Vendetta rod. After Sundays scouting at the Lake, I decided the Diawa just wasnt to the "T" of what I need. Not to say the reel wasnt good, it was, after I lubed the reel myself due to the lack of lubing from the factory, it worked a lot better, just not good enough for me. It could cast a country mile after tuning, but it was just missing the smoothness I was used to being a Shimano man. The Revo SX is in my opinion, a much smoother reel from the box, and seems to be built much better for the extra money. It casts awesome, smooth retrieve, and paired with the Vandetta rod, it just feels "right". The best thing about it, its all black and red colors (my favorite combination). Gambler tournament on Saturday, its gonna get abused pretty bad, lets see how it does compared to my Curado E7, and Citica G6.

Not tryin to sound like a jerk but if You are happy with the performance of your current Shimano reels why not just buy another Shimano and then you don't have to worry about liking it or not.

I like having different reels for different purposes. Its kind of collecting/fishing.

I tried My brand new Zillion out Today ($200) It had me throwing rocks at my SX! JK

The SX is a bit finicky but when it's on it's game it'll cast the proverbial country mile!

The step up to the STX is even better. The added centrifugal braking is much easier to deal with.

There have been a couple lately that were even less. I saw one for $165 in decent shape. I believe there is one for $150 with a fair amount of boat rash.

I've got 9, but if I bought the T3 it would have to be because it is a superior reel. And I'm not one that is all that concerned with looks.

When I looked at it at Bass Pro I thought it was pretty neat looking. Its definately very different, and the way the hood pops up when you push the thumb-bar down is just innovative. I just would like to ba able to use one before I bought one to see if its worth the $$$.

Well that will be a topic I won't touch. I happen to be a pflueger /pq man myself but the point I was trying to make is once you find a brand that you like why not just stay with that brand. Just about every manufacturer makes a reel that will handle whatever need you may have.

The Tdpro in daiwa's line up is like Shimano's caenan. It's the lower end of daiwa's reels. And used zillions are the way to go. I've passed up the chance to buy two of them this week for 140 shipped each.

i used to own a few shimanos/abus, shimano- core 50mg,curado 200e5, revo stx.

i keep on going back to my daiwas, sold all shimanos/abus. i own 3 zillions, steez reel, daiwa px, team daiwa z2020, 4 daiwa exceler spinning.

the thing about med and high end daiwa reels are performance and longevity

Well I have only 1 complaint with this setup. It casts soo smooth and soo far, its hard for me to keep from not chucking the bait as far as I can try to every cast, haha.

No, BPS, they let me trade back in my Daiwa. Only ended up costing me a few more dollars, but well worth it. Im righty though, so I cant use it anyway. d**n good price, thats half, makes you wonder what the markup is on these things?
