The ''little L'' Gives Up The ''magic'' In Florida 2-13-12

Featured Replies

We were fishing the "Little L" down in south Florida. Some of us refer to it a the "Magic" canal. Despite fluctuations in water level and water temperature, this crystal clear 22 mile long canal is sorta magical. It really never gets affected. But I had one thing working against me this morning...it was 42 degrees at daybreak. I absolutely dread weather below 55 degrees. I went into my hunting bin and got out my long johns and coveralls and was dreading the long run down this canal. By the time I got to the canal it was already a warm 62 degrees and I was thinking that it might be a o.k. day after all. By the afternoon is was a very nice 71 degrees.

It is rare that I get to fish when clients are in the boat. But today was the exception. My guy was by himself and really wanted me to join in. We started with white Zoom Vibra worms and stayed with them most of the day. Biggest two fish were in the 5-6 range, but after that cold night I was thankful that we caught any good fish.

Great trip! Still waiting for some more vids to watch too!

Did you launch off Tamiami Trail? Do you think the launch area is safe nowadays to leave your vehicle back there!

I've been wanting to go there for a bit now but not sure I need broken windows when I get back to the launch.

Yes this was off hwy 41. Never had any problems there. I just don't leave anything in the jeep that might attract attention.

Good to see bass being caught west of 27! :eyebrows: Those worms are some of my favorites.
