To All My Memphis Pond Hoppers!

Featured Replies

Got to get out last Sunday. I was throwing a jig and did not getting a bite. Guy next to me got a 5 pounder on a senko. We talked for a minute. He told me he caught a 9 pounder at Blue Lagoon park in Bartlett, the weekend before.

Hey Guys,  Haven't been on here in a million years but, since I've been away I've had some luck. All these fish were weighed and released. The picture at night was at Chickasaw Gardens. 7lbs

  • Saw this one crash the bank on some shad. He took the squarebill in two casts. It was so windy, I had to cast it inland to get it to fall in his zone a few feet off the bank. 3.2lbs, Johnson-fountains

  • Recent catches since Sunday. Top-3.8, bottom left-3.6, bottom right-2.9. All on t-rigged worms of different colors, all between 8:30am and 10:30am. Johnson Park ponds.

Greetings from the cold hard plains of central Indiana. My wife's parents live in Collierville so we bring the kids down there a few times a year + a special visit whenever my favorite band plays Memphis. I've been thinking about hauling my kayak down there the next time we visit. This thread has been very helpful locating spots to fish.

I'm hoping y'all might be able to give me some info on the Wolf River, too. I came across this video and now I'm dying to paddle it. How is the fishing on the "ghost" section (or any other section for that matter)?

The wolf river in the Memphis area sucks.  I have been on it three times and never got a bite.  The eastern part of the river is much nicer I hear and I am looking to try those sections this summer.

What a perfect day to be out.  Spending the day getting ready for the tourney tomarrow and helping around the house.

You didn't miss anything. I managed to go to a local pond in Southaven for the last hr & half of daylight. Not a single nibble. Not even on a Ned Rig. ?

Good luck tomorrow.

Beech, right? Never fished there, but I have an uncle that's fished it and Pinoak quite a few times. My understanding is those lakes can be tough nuts to crack. Plus, tough conditions this weekend after cold weather & a front moving thru on Friday.

We had to run home to our family's.  We both stretch to make the events and run home to make sure the kido's are ready for school on Monday.  Its worth all the pain with the wife to be out there though!!!

Weather is nice today. Here's to next 3.5 hours of work flying by. Hoping they're biting today, March has been brutal to me with on and off weather and lack of landing much.

Went to Neshoba the other day my buddy caught 5 bass 2 in the back pond through the trees on the back side and 2 on the main pond.  I landed about a 13" Black Crappie on the back lake and got me a little square bill out of a tree that someone left in it.

Well, I'm glad someone's catching something. I haven't caught a fish in over 3 weeks(!) and it's driving me insane. Closest thing was a bass who tried to run with my jig, but the weed guard prevented the hookset.

It seems that everyone that I've seen lately has been fishing for crappie, and having pretty decent success at it.

Caught my best so far this season at 5+ lbs. Wish I'd had my scales on me to weigh it. She had a fat belly.

Yeah. Stayed close to home & fished near my neighborhood since weather was looking sketchy. Didn't figure I would have much luck, but ended up with 3. Decent one on a Redeye, a little dink on Ned Rig & the big one on a wakebait.

Yeah I've been hearing that haha. Me and a buddy went and i didnt catch anything and he caught ab a 2 pounder

Caught 4 today. 3 small bass, 2 of which I was able to spy from the bank and enticed them with soft plastics. Got a fair sized crappie(1.67lbs, ~13 inches) too on a lipless crank.
