Flurocarbons

Featured Replies

I am looking for a new flurocarbon line that is somewhat inexpensive, yet performs well(little stretch, long lasting, etc.) Any help would be great, thanks.

I use Seagar Invisx..

I think it's reasonably priced but you may find another brand a little cheaper. But a wise man once said.." You get what you pay for"

Vicious fluorocarbon. You WILL need some KVD line and lure but once treated its awesome line. Left untreated you will have a 120 yard slinky spooled up

I use the BPS xps flouro........good enough for KVD good enough for me.

but the bait monkey keeps telling me to try Tatsu.

the bait monkey keeps telling me to try Tatsu.

Me too! I'm just afraid to try it because I know I'll like it, and as often as I change my line, I can't afford it.

That's the thing, though, with Tatsu. You don't need to change it. I've not had to change my line with Tatsu on four reels spooled with two spools of Tatsu for what will be the third season this year.

You want a decent, inexpensive fluorocarbon, try Yo-Zuri Hybrid. It's a copoly, but it's a very good line.

hooligan, I know you are the tatsu expert, and REALLY know lot about fishing lines.......but you must not get hung up any, have to break off a line, ect, ect, if you can make a spool last 3 years......or is the line just that d**n good? lol, cause if it is I really need to try it.

Seaguar Red Label to me,is as good as invisx..been using it 4-5 yrs now..It's good line and somewhat manageable

But it floats, one of the reasons people switch to fluorocarbon.

x2 been using is for a year........zero problems so far. IMO though it's not as good as invisx, not as manageable, but still very good for the price.

Xps has been treating me well so far this year. Still not sure im a flouro guy, for a few reasons..but its growing on me.

I use Seagar Invisx..

Mike

Same here and like it! :thumbsup_blue:

Seaguar Invizx

/thread

Yeah.... close thread for a line that fishes like a rubber band.

I use flouro on nearly all my spinning reels and I have had good luck with Seaguar InvizX, BPS Carbon Gold, and XPS. I am looking to try Sunline Sniper before too long.

My experiance has taught me that when you spend about $20 a spool you are going to be getting a good product. You can spend less then that but its most likely going to give you fits if your not used to flouro's.

Trilene !00% Pro Grade and KVD Line Conditioner for me.

Well, I've fished it for 4 yrs now and have never had a problem with it in any capacity. Alittle stretch isnt gonna kill you.

This is true.

The spools in question, yeah, I don't get hung. They're not techniques that I'm typically going to be breaking off. It's quite rare that I am hung to the point of breaking off. One is deep jig rod for fishing big jigs in open water, one is on a pitching stick that I use around docks and situations that I typically can see my bait and get it back. I've added backing below the line a couple times, too. I started with a full spool of Tatsu, it's probably down to about 75 yards and the remainder is backing now, that's mostly from changes and cutting back.

I can honestly say the same about the 6# Invisx on two of my drop shot rods. Yes, I retie often, and yes, the spools are probably only 2/3 full anymore. Since I only really drop the bait over the side, or use short pitches away from the boat, it isn't any problem. These rods also sit on my deck most of the time. No adverse affects from the elements. If Tatsu is truly > Invisx, than I'd expect the same results. I'll know more in three seasons....sever spools of Tatsu on deck. :)

14 and 10lb BPS floro for me for three years now fishing the junk on the Tidal Potomac. They offer great sales on the line once a year. For instance, right now it is buy two and get one free. It works well for me.
