I just bought a shimano curado 50e that im going to be using for my finesse setup such as texas rig plastics and other light presentations. Im gonna be spooling it up with seaguar abrazx, but I dont know what size line to get. I cant decide between 8, 10, and 12 lb test. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open water- 8 or 10 are fine

Around docks, laydowns, grass, etc i would go with 12 or maybe even 15

Yea most of the fishing I do is in small open ponds where there really isnt a lot of cover.

I myself would go 12 or 15.Because now you can fish both open water and docks,wood ect. and not have to worry!

For finesse, 6 or 8 lb, IMO. I've used 8 on a non-finesse BC and it performed extremely well.

I have 12 lb fluoro on my 50E. It's thin enough to cast well and strong enough to handle larger fish. Here in NC, I don't see a need for lighter line unless you are fishing ultra-clear water.

I really really enjoyed the 8 and 10 # on my 50e for the techniques you want to do. I have mine matched up with a Powell Max 682C and it makes for a very nice, enjoyable combo with the 8 and 10#. If you want to go any higher I would suggest looking at Seaguar's InvizX line

Have you considered braid for your main line and a fluoro leader? I have a Recon 713C paired with a Core 50MG7 spooled with #20 power pro with a 6-8 ft of #10 Sunline sniper FC leader (probably could go lower but it's what I have at the moment) and I catch a lot of fish with ZERO problems. I use it for everything from weightless t-rigs to finesse jigs to drop shot and I feel it's super easy to cast with the low stretch quality of braid and the abrasion resistance and clear properties of fluoro. Something to think about. Just make sure you're tying a good line connection and you're set!

Do u like the Yo-Zuri? I used 8lb on my spinning reel and it was awful. Maybe because it was too stiff for the spinning reel but I am not sure.

I've got 8# mono on mine. I see no reason to go heavier given the conditions you fish in. Why go heavier than necessary? My reel casts 3/16 oz. spinnerbaits like a dream with this set up. I'm going to try 6# mono on my Sol for finesse fishing.

The normal concensus seems to be that any braid light than 40 lb. has a tendency to dig in. If pondassasin can use 20 lb. with success, then why can't I? Sounds like another excellent option.

For spinning gear you need to use the Ultra Soft. This stuff is tuff!
