I don't say you're welcome because I don't think it's that big of a deal to open a door for someone.
Actually I do say you're welcome when someone doesn't say thank you.
I get a little irritated at that.

My pleasure! It's become habit since getting married to a chic fil a employee. It's the response they train you to say when a customer says thank you. I guess it just become habit from hearing it so much.
Mmm, chick-fil-a... I'll definitely be stopping there a time or two when I'm in South Carolina in a couple weeks.

The other one I got was If someone new comes up to the table while you are out eating and introduces themselves. You stand up, shake their hand if it was offered, introduce yourself and then you may sit back down. If you are waiting somewhere and all the seats are full. If a woman or someone older enters the room, you had better unass the chair you are in and offer it to them. I'm telling you, she took the old school route with my siblings, cousins, and myself.
Also I don't recall having anyone ever not saying thank you, after me holding a door for them. Guess things are just different down here.

If they don't make eye contact then I just say "mhmm."
If they don't say "thank you" then I say "you're welcome" loud enough for them to here me.

I held the door for a young lady yesterday. She was about 5 steps away from entering the gas station so I stood there and held the door for her, I even gave a smile. She wasn't attractive or scantly dressed, either. I was just being polite. That
