I thought we were bass fishing. Darn lakers moved in shallow from deep water haunts & might have moved the bass deeper. These guys were a gas on light bass tackle. Added another pic from yesterday.

CWB was using a rapala dives to 15 & I was using a rapala deep diver husky jerk..

How long into the first Laker did the fight go before you realized you did not have a record bass on ?

And did you say the classic line right after the strike ...
"If this is a bass, it's a good one" I love that one.

The way those guys hit & start pulling drag kinda gives them away. I didn't think it was a smallie as much as a trophy steelhead that didn't want to jump. First time I have caught a lake erie laker so I wasn't expecting them. They are gas.

Never fished the great lakes. You guys have lots of variety. Beautiful fish!
