  1. I have been bed fishing small ponds for years. It is possible to have a negative effect on the smallest of them. What I started doing is just looking for that big one. It is fun to catch as many as you can. But when you are bed fishing the smallest of waters just go for the biggest one you can find.
  2. If my wifes grandfather was still alive he would know. He used to fish BASS back then.
  3. I might just be M J. That is an old fashioned way of doing names. My middle name is N.
  4. What kind of Radio? Is it like a car radio or is it one you can plug in the wall in your house?
  5. Man that's awsome. What a deal. That rod is worth more than the boat. It reminds me of my first pond boat. A large piece of stirofoam and a paddle. Man was it fun. Where in SC do you live?
  6. Man that nice. And it looks like it was fun.
  7. A 20 foot bass boat with a big back deck. Just pack an inflatable mattress and your set.
  8. An impatient bass fisherman. No, that could never happen. Welcom back man.
  9. I have them on my GPS. But they are in some of your favorite areas on the Dead Sea. You probably already know about them.
  10. I spent the last 18 years standing on the bank of many small ponds and lakes. The first thing to do is stop thinking of depth in terms of feet. Think of it in terms of "seconds of fall" or how long it takes a bait to reach the bottom. Count down how long it takes your lure to reach the bottom. I spent countless hours dragging a heavy C-Rig or Jig along the bottom of lakes, making mental notes of dept and drop-offs, brush piles and rock piles, points and humps. It just takes some concentration and some practice in visualization and you shouldn't have any problem finding what you are used to seeing on your electronics.
  11. I agree. Use what is accessable. I have about 20 spots that I add trees to every year. If you keep adding trees there will always be good cover for the fish.
  12. Here is a money saveing tip. There is probable a company somewhere close to you that makes concrete bricks. They will have a pile of broken ones that they will give away if you ask. Tie two to a tree and you shouldn't have any problem sinking them.
  13. I used to do this on Lake Allatoona in North Georgia. I bet I picked up 400 trees one year. It is a great way to add a few honey holes in your home lake. I found that it is best to put no less than 10 trees in one pile. More is best.
  14. Hey maybe we all can come up with a term for a technique we didn't invent and market it. I got one "Flukin" - Sight fishing with a weightless fluke.
  15. Glad to have you back man, and don't let those women slow you down again.
  16. I am in the middle of doing mine. I am taking pictures as I go along. so I might have a few suggestions in the comming days.
  17. Marry Christmas.
  18. Well said. Marry Christmas. And please be safe this New Years. I don't want to see you come into my work all banged up.
  19. You may be rite. Where is Raul when we need him.
  20. What he is doing is squeezing the gill plates. This paralizes the fish and keeps those stinkin trebles from sticking ya. It's also a great way to get them out of the live well and into the weight bag. If done for a very short amount of time it doesn't harm the fish.
  21. In large lakes that have a healthy LM population tournaments have no measurable affect on the population during the spawn. Most large bass will spawn in the deepest water possible making it next to impossible to sight fish them. In clear lakes this can be 10 to 15 ft deep. I routinely catch them in 8 ft of water on a few clear ponds I fish. I can only think of a few times where a bass didn't return to the bed after I put her back in the water. I think we need to consider the health of the bass on the particular lake we fish and always return the big one as soon as we can.
  22. Around here we are waiting for the water to get down into the 40's. The bass fishing will get hot in the ditches and creek channels. We take a leadhead Fluke and bounce it down the ditch. When we catch one we will catch a bunch in the same spot. And many of them will be 4lb+. You can go most of the day and not find any fish but when you do, it's one after the other. It takes 15-20lb to win a tournament in the winter on Clark's Hill.
