Do a Google for Hydrilla Gorilla. They sell a "How to" book that will help you out. It's great.

Most "original" way to fish.
Well I almost forgot about this one. This was probably the first year I haven't used it. I tie a 6 to 12 inch leader onto the hook of a spinnerbait. I put a small piece of old soft plastic on the hook to hold it in place. On the other end of the leader I tie a #1 straight shank hook. On the hook I put a white Super Fluke. This is my secret Blue Gill lure. I keep all my used white flukes for this one. When I am fishing for bedding Gills and Crappie that are locked on bed and won't hit anything else. I tie a small treble hook on 4 to 6 lb line. No sinker is used. I use a 7ft ML rod. On one of the hooks of the treble I put the pinched off forked tail of the Fluke. I work the hook into the bed and try to get it snagged on something in the middle. Then I just twitch it until the fish comes to investigate. The fish will grab it and spit it out fast but if I anticipate the bite I catch some real nice Gills. Here is a stringer from this spring. Ten of them are over 1 lb and the two I'm holding went 2.5 and 3lbs.

Know your prey: Seduction I
I do the opposite. I try to get the bass to face me. Then I make a cast well past it and bring it right over it's back. (Bass can't see directly behind them.) Then I drop the 1/2 oz jig on the bass's nose. It opens it's mouth and the rest is history. I am going to have to try your way Chris. It sounds easier.

How to get a hook out?
Yea, those hooks come pre sharpened. Just look at the post just a few down from this one titled Hooksed Fingers or something. It should answer your question.

what if
I'm kind of partial to Clarks Hill Lake in Augusta Ga. It is a 71,000+ acre lake, with great bass fishing. You could fish it for years and never fish the same water twice. Watch Bassmaster TV this week and see the Tournament coverage from early this year. Watch the next BASS Tournament that will be held in April 06. There will be some heavy limits taken that week. The lakes that are a 2 hour drive or less from Augusta are; Lake Russel, Hartwell, Murray, Santee Cooper, Oconee, and Sinclair. We have a very active branch of Quail Unlimited in the area and there are dozens of Quail Hunting plantations in the area also. Everyday that I make the 15min drive to one of the ramps on Clarks Hill I can't help but count my blessings. There is nothing like driving a boat into a sunrise and having a Bald Eagle flying along side. Clarks Hill Lake record Largemouth is 13lb 4oz, Striped Bass is 55lb 12oz. This is a Stripper that a my friend and his son caught this year.

I don't see a problem with it, as long as you are following the law.

Weapons on Your Boat
Yea. They were trying real hard to see what was in my boat. They were so close to me that I could have hit them with my flipping rod. And on a 71,800 acre lake there is no reason to get that close. The funny thing was that this was the first time I carried my gun with me. I don't even know why I picked it up on my way out the door. I just did.

Weapons on Your Boat
I was glad that I had my 9mm with my one day. I was out on my jon boat one afternoon this summer and another boat came buzzing around the corner and rite up to where I was fishing. In the boat where two teenagers around 18 or 19 years old. They pulled rite up over my line and asked how the fishing was. I told them the it had been great untill the had stopped their boat right over my fish. The idled close to my boat and I heard the one ask the other "Does he have anything?" I relized what was going on so I reached in my tackle bag and placed my 9 on my lap. They cranked up and flew out of there. They weren't trying to catch any fish and I wasn't about to be a target.

getting familiar with a new lake
I think this is the only way to do it. If I can't find a topo map on line. I will call a local bait shop and have them mail me one. I study arial photos and past fishing reports.

Most effective techniques
The best thing I did this year is joining this site and get involved. The second was to go fishing with Spotaholic. He kind of became my mentor. He helped me learn how to find the fish on Clarks Hill and I learned how to fine-tune my fishing presentations by watching him. My best bait this year was by far the Spot Remover Jig with a green pumpkin finesse worm. I came in the top 5 in 5 tournaments using it and I had several 30+fish days with it. Next year it will be crankbaits every day.

How to fish water with heavy moss underneath?
Being that you are new to bass fishing and many of the guys are suggesting ripping a lipless crankbait (Rat-L-Trap). I think I might explain it a little more so other newbies will understand what we are talking about. Cast the crankbait out and let it fall into the moss, grass, weeds or any type of vegetation. Now let your line go slack and jerk your rod to the side or up and let the lure fall again. This is ripping. It can be done with most crank baits and some spininerbaits. Like avid said, It is a great way to get those big ones to strike.
