Johnson Siver Minnow a lost lure??????/
Just replaced one I lost. Also picked up a BPS model with an eye and a design on it. Don't know if it will attract any more or not but it was interesting looking. Classic lures are not that just for no reason.

Sea Eagle Fold Cat
They are made to inflate and deflate over and over. It won't hurt them at all. I have several Sea Eagles, the SE6 and SE8. I love them. I am going to get a SE9 when the right deal comes up. Been finding them used for good prices during the winter. Summer comes the used prices go up. Anything you get from them is a good product.

Setting the hook worm fishing
I have learned that when I cannot feel the worm to strike! I quit wondering about that after I learned that the fish is coming towards you!! Night fishing will cure you of that.

Setting the hook worm fishing
Sometimes I like to keep my rod tip up just a bit so there will be a curve of slack down to the water. The bite this way is more like a "tug". Then I drop my rod tip and watch the line for movement and reel in slack. You can see what the fish is doing. When the line starts to move off then I strike. If you wait longer, he will probably be hooked close to the gullet. I tended to lose more fish with the quick strike approach all the time. If the bite is more aggresive that day as is evidenced by the fish running with the worm immediately then I will quick strike, but if he picks up the worm and moves slowly then I will wait just a little bit before striking. More than one way to skin a cat.

Minn Kota trolling motor question
I was given an old Minn Kota 365 motor. I got it running just fine in forward and reverse and all the speeds work, but I am hearing some bearing noise that sounds like high pitched metallic. It is intermittent and changes if you hold the motor at different angles. Is it worth while or even possible to crack open the motor section and lube the bearings? I have just been testing the motor out of the water just turn it on and then right off. It has not been used for quite a few years. Any thoughts??

How to get pond opened for fishing
Great. Now since your son will be doing a lot of fishing there have him keep watch for people who might want to come in and mess things up. Give him a phone number to call to report folks who are not supposed to be there and the standard phone numbers for emergencies. Also have him let you know when he is going to be at the pond so you will know where he is and can check on him. A prepaid cheap cell phone for him would be an idea so he can keep in touch while either at or on the water.

Need an idea for an inflatable "trailor".
No way I need a bigger boat. I have several lakes I fish that have no road to them. I just hoist the SE6 over my shoulder and walk through the woods and drop it right in. I have decided on the coleman inflatable cooler idea. Picked one up at BPS. They make two sizes, one for a 50 qt cooler and one for a 26 qt. Perfect to just tie behind the boat and sit either the large or small cooler in and get some stuff in it. You have to learn to work with the wind in these. An anchor is a must also. Great boat. If I was into large bodies of water, yes a bigger ridgid boat is the way to go, but for anything under say 500 acres, the inflatable is just great.

Questions about Inflatable pontoon boats
I bought a Sea Eagle SE8 and a Sea Eagle SE6. Found them used for a very good price. These are the best things I have bought in a long time!! Quality and easy to inflate. I bought the SE6 for just when I want to go by myself. I can inflate it at the lake or close to the lake and hoist it up on my shoulder and carry it. I have toted that thing up to 50 yards before to lakes with no ramp or car access with no problem. If you are doing small ponds, lakes, strips then you might want to look at these. Takes up to 3hp motor or trolling motor. I was out in my SE6 yesterday with a morning wind advisory of 30mph gusts and all I had to do was toss out a 10lb anchor and was able to fish. Got whipped around but it was not dangerous at all. When you go inflatable you learn real fast how to be friends with the wind!! I don't care for the canoe or kayak thing. You can't stand up in them safely and if you want to really to a big hookset you best not lean to far sideways! The Sea Eagle has wooden floors you put in and you can stand up and fish easily. I saw a fellow fishing one day on Tribble Mill lake in one of those boats you were looking at from Cabelas. The wind was blowing him around like crazy also the biggest thing I did not like about it was the fact that the water is under you al all times. You try to tie on a lure or do anything with something in your hand and you drop it.....it's gone, same with cell phones, keys etc. After seeing him in his boat trying to flyfish and spending more time rowing, I knew I did not want one of those.

Need an idea for an inflatable "trailor".
That's a good idea. I have been online looking at all sorts of inflatable pull behinds, pool toys etc. One thing I have seen that is a great idea is from Coleman called an inflatable cooler-#5990A200. It is a small inflatable ring that you drop a 30 to 50 qt cooler in. I am going to get one of these anyway. It will hold up to 100 pounds of ice, drinks etc! Has some sort of tethering features on it so you can strap it to your inflatable boat. Bass Pro has them.

Need an idea for an inflatable "trailor".
I fish in my Sea Eagle inflatable boats. I was thinking the other day how it would be nice to be able to get everything off the floor of the boat and all I would need would be a little tow behind mini raft thing just to put stuff in and tow along. Anyone have an idea for something like this.

Good New Years Fish Story!!
I play guitar for a living. I laid off fishing for the past 35+ years and started back just this past 6 months or so. I logged into this forum and learned so much about bass fishing which I never did when I was younger . I had a New Years Eve party to play North of Atlanta at a place called Lake Arrowhead. 550 acres with a bunch of beautiful homes around it. Been there since the 70s, and I assume the lake also is about that age. Along with my guitar stuff I put in a couple of rods and headed out to the job this after noon. Got there in plenty of time to set up and then about 6:00 I walk out of the large clubhouse where the party is held and fish a little down at the golf course. Found that the bottom was real grassy with a fine type of grass that just balled up on the Carolina rig I was throwing so I went back to my car and opened up my tackle box and put on a drop shot rig with a black and blue Senko worm about a foot up from the weight. I went back into the clubhouse and walked out the back doors out onto a huge 100ft wide deck that comes off the back of the building which is all glass. There are two levels of the deck each about 20 feet deep. I started casting the drop shot rig from the second deck level that was about 25 feet above the water. I am dressed in my Tuxedo pants and tux shirt with a hooded sweatshirt over that. I am just enjoying the view and not really caring if I get a bite or not when I look at my rod tip and see just a little 'tic". I wait maybe 15 seconds and it does it again. I let it happen a total of 5 times, reel down, point the rod straight down while reeling in and give a good upward hookset. I am real tickled to have a fish on because I have not caught anything in a few weeks. I start to reel in at a modest rate and all of a sudden all I see is just a huge gaping mouth that you could easily put a football into!!!! Then this massive bass breaks the surface and just lays on its side. I am just laughing because I am 25 feet above it and have no way to get to the fish. The rest of my musician buddies are inside the clubhouse setting up their instruments and I can see them through the glass panels on the back of the building. I start to yell and wave and them, but no one sees me until about 3 or 4 minutes goes by and then 3 of them run out the side door onto the deck and when they see this fish they just cannot believe it. I tell one of the guys to walk to the side of the deck on the first level and I start towing the fish around the right side of the deck. I hand him my rod and show him how to keep the spinning reel from letting out line and then I run back to the center of the deck to the stairs that lead from the second level to the first level. I run up the stairs and the run over to get the rod back and look over at what my next move will be and see a set of stairs that leads down to a small boat dock neck to the deck. All four of us head down this winding staircase and I have the rod hanging over the side of the rail trying to keep this fish on and reeling in slack and trying to keep from falling down the steps and my buddies are running down with me watching all this happen. I get down to the boat landing and it is too far off the water to be able to reach the fish and I have my tuxedo on and I can't jump in the water so we all just stand on the landing looking at this huge fish that easily weighs 10 pounds. I look over and see that I can hop off the back of the landing onto a 6 foot piece of ground that goes under the deck. It is all rocks and trash and busted glass and everything you can imagine so I give one of the guys my rod and hop down on the ground and get my rod back from them and consider just dragging the fish up on the bank but I decided that dragging it into all that trash just did not seem to be the best thing to do for the fish so we just checked the fish out some more and I gave him some slack and she just rolled over and the hook popped right out and she slid off. You should have seen the belly on her. Surely it would have been too early for a large bass to be full of eggs but that is what she looked like. Anyway I wish someone could have captured all this with a video camera as it looked more like a Marx brothers movie and was just hilarious. Heck of a way to start out the new year. I may never catch another fish like that in my whole life, but having the experience of it is all a fisherman could ever want. I am headed back out again in the morning at a local lake to try again, because I have just learned that you never EVER know what is going to happen on your next cast. If you spend enough time at it no matter if your good or bad, that big moment will eventually come for you. Happy New Year. PS. If you go to Google Earth and log in "Lake Arrowhead Waleska Georgia" and hit enter, a pic of the lake comes up. Click on the blue dot on the Southwest side of the lake and pic of the club house will come up and you can see the back deck with the stairs on the right side leading down to a boat dock where a pontoon boat is. That same boat was there.

Tribble Mill Lake Grayson Ga. Need some info please.
Today I took my inflatable out to Tribble Mill Park in Grayson Ga. They have two lakes in the park and the fishing is free. One lake is 108 acres and the other is 40. I have fished the 40 acre lake before and today I wanted to try the larger lake. I got my boat launched and looked in the water and saw some grass that came up to about a foot from the surface. OK I am thinking this is just around the edge of the lake and that will be just fine, but the farther I got out into the lake I realized that the whole dang lake is consumed by this stuff!!!! I have never seen anything like it. Anyone here know what is going on in this lake and is the rest of the lake fouled by this grass?!?!? I loaded my boat and went up the hill to the 40 acre lake. It is just beautiful without this grass problem. Any one know what is going on with the large lake. thanks

Google Earth
Thanks for the tip. I had looked at it before, but not in the context of studying bodies of water I fish. Great tool.

fly fishing ....for bass?
I can't even imagine how exciting it would be to latch on to a 7 or 8 pounder with just a fly rod and your bare hand on the line!!

Need suggestion on used Minn Kota motor
http://www.seaeagle.com/MotormountBoats.aspx As a result of seeing LongMikes' Sea Eagle boat here on the forum I bought some of these used. They are incredible. You can put a small gas motor on them or a trolling motor with no problem . These inflatable boats are the best thing I have bought in a long time. You can keep them in your trunk and inflate them at the water, or inflate them and put them on the top of the car or as I do with my SE6 I just inflate it and put it in the back of my van and pull down to the water and lift it out myself and throw it in!! You can easily stand up in these. Much tougher skin on these that on the Sevylor or other inflateables. Plenty of these used on the net also. Need suggestion on used Minn Kota motor
Yes the sea eagle has wooden floors that you install and then continue inflating the boat to hold them in place. You can easily stand up in the boat with absolutely no problem. It is a great boat and can get you in places that a reg boat could never go. thanks

Need suggestion on used Minn Kota motor
Just picked up a little Sea Eagle inflataable 6. Perfect for one or two people. I would like to get a small used minn kota moter for it. Need some suggestions on a simple short shaft small motor that might not be in vogue these days for bigger boats but would be just fine for an inflatable. thanks
