  1. Put a little on your lips if there chapped and it sure helps.Works better than chicken manure to keep you from licking them.Seriously,I have 3 tubes in the boat right now with a new spare on the peg board.
  2. Make a game plan and stick with it.Have at least 10 places to fish.Make your milk run ,fish your game plan and stay with it. If you do good,go back and do it again. If you do bad,go back and do it again. At the end of the day, if you didn't get in the money you can still hold your head up because you did the best you could do.Remember you have at least half these other people beat on just fishing ability,Its the other half you have to beat.Oh yeah, eat while you're running down the lake and drink the regular Mountain Dews(Super leaded ones)
  3. Is there a rule of thumb for Spinnerbait color of blades at night? I've just started fishing at night and with so many choices(copper, gold, black nickel, silver). It gets confusing and costly to buy all of them.Any help appreciated.Crowcommander

I like the Mcstick 110 in the Chartruese clear color or the Blue Bandit.Great sticky Gamy hooks, stays down there and hunts. The harder the wind is blowing the harder you jerk.Oh and it won't tangle like some jerk baits because of the metal ball that goes to the back of the bait as you throw it. Best midrange cost jerk bait IMHO
  5. Anyone using the Spro McRip 85 yet? Got 4 in the other day and haven't had a chance to use them yet. Did get a chance to watch Aaron Maarten fish one on Tv.It seemed he let it sit for about 5 seconds before jerking it.
  6. Got a Veritas rod for Xmas. Fished all day with it and did not want to put it down. Will buy 4 more,2 spinning and 2 casting. Had I had this rod 20 years ago I could have been a Contender!
  7. Thinking about driving the 57 miles to Lake Columbia, but in this 100+ degree heat, I was wandering if anyone had a report.Crowcommander
  8. I have had 3 jet foot motors on 1 1650 express (1995) flatbottom. The latest motor is a 60/40 4 stroke. This motor uses less than half of the older Merc 60/40 2 strokes, it has less torque, but is quieter, has a 5 yr warranty.only change oil 1 time a year.Call Tony Hodge in Arkansas tony@futtrellmarine.com. I definetly know what its like to have Jet-foot fever. They're only one cure for it!
  9. Guess what guys!!! This ia a new summer pattern in most southern lakes with no moss or grass.Motor around the points, find the brush piles, see the fish around the brush, throw out a bouy marker, hit save waypoint on your gps/sounder.Mark as many as you can in seeing distance and so back and fish them.Don't be afraid to throw a big worm and 1/2 oz sinker to get down there. Any angler can now have an advantage just like the local pro.Now thats PARITY!!! Just be sure and go back and pick your bouys when you leave the area.
  10. The baits I saw seem to be distorted by excessive heat from being in a clear tackle box. The Plano box can act as a magnifing glass when left out in the boat. This will make all plastic hard baits do this including Zara spooks,Chug bugs,Rattletraps, etc. Thank goodness for an understanding customer service dept. I learned this the hard way on a 100+ degree day on Millwood Lake in SW Ark.
  11. Go to a hardware store and get the white braided nylon that is a tad larger than the black original. Burn the end with a candle and just before it cools down take a leather glove and taper the end down to get it throught the little thing-a-ma-gig. after its been secured on both ends take the candle and rub on the place where its rubbed the most to reduce friction and make it last longer. good luck
  12. Very good knot! I still prefer the super 8 knot because of no tags hitting my eyelets of my rod as the 6' leader comes back.
  13. A mutual friend from Bracketville turned me on to them but they don't seem to handle the 5/16 that we use so much of.Tacklwwarehouse is the best IHMO.
  14. Right now with Bass on deep brush and in the bream mode as I call it, I like the YUM in Plum Candy (145) and Zoom Red Bug.Both 10". They seem to grade the fish for me and I catch bigger bass on them.IMHO Crowcommander
  15. I like to take a small tube (like a tube that comes with WD-40),cut about 3/4" and slide it directly in front of the super fluke. I then slide my line thru, attach a small red swivel, snap ring and a small #6 red treble. One point goes in the back of the fluke(behind the hollow cavity where it starts to narrow down)The swivel lays in the cavity, the red tube shines thru the front of the fluke as red gills, the bait slides up the line when you hook up,flukes last much longer. With 2 more swivels you can fish 2 flukes. Works great!
  16. Jerkbait and Caroline Rig with Zoom Lizard. Both are natural enemies of bass near the beds. I can recommend the new McStick by Spro lures. This thing throws like a rock in the wind, will jerk down to about 8 feet with 8 lb test.Mike meClelland can be proud of this bait.It really works.Let it hesitate for about a 3 or 4 count and they'll jerk the rod out of your hands!
  17. I have a friend that has a fiberglass bed cover for his truck and his trailer is completly hidden from view. I fixed an old broken fishing rod with flourescent ribbon on it and a bungee cord to attach to his trailer. I used this about 2 years till I got enough confidence to just use the mirrors. I also found that most ramps have straight expansion joints going down to the water which helps me keep it straight.
  18. I'm sorry Southtexas,Its a MotorGuide 82 lb Tour, foot control. Iv'e owned 3 of these and never had a problem. I guess I need to take it to my dealer and let him fix it. I'm sure its an adjusttment problem. I thought someone else might know how to remedy this.
  19. I've noticed that my 82 lb tour wobbles while I'm trailering my boat. It seems to be loose on the prop side of the storing plate. I've never had to strap it down. My question is there a way to stop this? I know there is an adjustment on the pull-pull cables at the base of my foot pedal, but I don't want to over tighten or break some thing.Any help is appreciated.Crowcommander
  20. Nitro,I feel your pain.Just changed 4 tires and while the wheels were off I checked the bearings and 3 hubs were rough and loose. I must have not been greasing enough. On long trips I usually carry a spare hub and feel the hubs for heatwhen We stop for gas. I know what you mean when you lose confidence in your bearings.
  21. Google the Super 8 knot. Its the best I found and if tied right,it won't twang on your rod eyes as you throw. Tie it about 10 times sitting in front of computer and you'll own it for life.
  22. Got 4 new tires on my boat trailer and while they were being put on I checked the hubs and found 3 out of 4 rough as I spinned them. Got them home, jacked them up and pumped grease in them as I spinned them. They seemed ok and weren't as rough as before. I usually carry a extra 1750# 5 hole hub/bearings with me on trips. Will these be ok or do I need to go ahead and replace them. Most trips are within 50 miles. Another Question,do I need to get the oil bath bearings and if so,who sells them? Thanks Crowcommander
  23. Best Buzzbait ever made, slowest stay on top Buzzbait evermade!!! A close second would be the Revenge Buzzbait with a thinner wire.Same configaration on the wire shape though.Dicks Sporting Goods have some, but call before you go as they're out sometimes.
  24. I love the RageTail Craw in the new smaller version as a jig trailer with a little Megastrike rubbed in.It will defintely outfish other soft trailers(eve in the back of the boat.Green Pumpkin and blk/Bl flake are my favorite colors.Crowcommander
  25. I love the Revenge spinnerbaits also, especially the 1 oz,I have lost a few fish on them because of the R bend though. Its bad when you reel in and have only the spinners left.Crowcommander
