  1. Mine is the genus name for Black Bass.
  2. They don't work......I'll give ya $10 for it - just because it's New Year's and all... Deal!! What is it? I can't make out the tag. ??? Custome Lures.

I saw these at a local tackle store. I shoulda picked some up. (Green Top for Triton9)
  4. I'm glad someone mentioned Lews. These lures are cheap, probably because of the crap hooks they put on them. Otherwise, they seem to be well made, have good actions and the finishes seem to hold up very well. I got several from my kids for Christmas a few years ago. They got them out of he bargain bin and put them in my stocking. They were the shallow runners. They picked red craw, white shad, sparkely white shad and firetiger (probably 'cuz they thought they were pretty). They got me a handful of the diving kind, too. I tried them and was pretty impressed with the way they acted. I replaced the hooks on most of them with larger trebles because the ones they came with were too small. I've caught several nice fish with them. I bought a few of the minnows and jointed minnows, too. These are pretty nice as well. Good bait for under $3. You gotta factor in better hooks. And get a pack of adhesive eyes because they tend to fall off.
  5. Fenwick HMG 7' medium heavy rated for 8-20 lb line and 1/4-1 oz baits. You won't find a rod a whole lot more sensitive than an HMG. Awesome rods. MSRP is $129 but I've found them at a local tackle store for $109. Team All Star IM10 or All Star American Classic in 6'6" medium/fast. The Team All Star will run about $100 and the American Classic about $90. These are fantastic rods, very sensitive and brute tough.
  6. Could be. I don't have any Bandits. But I'm just interested in people's best cranks - balsa or plastic. I like Rapalas, too. I usually fish cranks most when the water gets cold. Rapala DTs in chartreuse and orange, or in red craw colors produce well for me. I've caught a lot on Bomber Fat As in red craw colors and fire tiger. Rebel Crawfish in various sizes in red and chartreuse do well, too. In spring I do pretty well with Rapala Fat Raps in silver and perch color. I also do pretty well with Bomber Square As over grass. Shad Raps in perch, firetiger, gold and silver always produce something. I bought some Glass Shad Raps and am looking forward to trying these.
  7. Of course. But what else do we have to do? My wife's ironing and my kids are playing their Wii.
  8. I've fished lotsa Bombers, some Rebels, and lotsa Rapalas, and a few others. I don't think I've ever fished a Bandit or a Bagley (I know I don't own one). I hear Bandits and Bagleys are the bomb-diggity of balsa cranks. Who makes the best crankbaits? What's your favorite? Thinkin' about getting me some Bagleys and Bandits.
  9. 1) Work less hard. Mediocrity pays just as well. 2) Stop cutting the grass so much, and fish more. 3) Change tires on my boat trailer before they come off on the highway. 4) Check the tire pressure on my cars more often. 5) Not be so hard on my kids. 6) Be a little harder on my wife 8-) 7) Stop drinking so much Mt. Dew. 8) Slow down on buying fishing tackle, and start wearing out what I have. 9) Try a Bagley crankbait. 10) Buy a Glock .45 ACP. I always wanted one.
  10. A threesome with... Oh wait, wrong forum. I want to try a GLX for more than just a few minutes. To see if it's as good as it's cracked up to be.
  11. No doubt this accounts for some of the complaints of poor performance.
  12. Great looking animals, folks!
  13. I agree. Don't eat your carrot stick before sex.
  14. The 200 and the 300 have the same frame size, but the 200 is still big. I put my 200 DHSVs on All Star ACs 6'8" rods. The reels seemed too big to me on those rods. I took them off and put them on my 7' carolina rigging/frog rod, and my 7'6' flipping rod. They feel much better on those rods. The St Croix you described - 7" fast, 14-15 lbs - would probably make a good carolina rigging or frog rod. Is it heavy or medium heavy power? The spool on the 300 takes a lot of line. I'd fill that thing up 1/2 with backing before I put on any braid.
  15. Yeah, it is coincidental ;D Here is a picture of a dink I caught that day and happened to get a picture of the guy I was describing in the background. He pulled up and asked how I was doing and I told him I was getting some fish but kept hooking them in the mouth and gill plate at the same time (whihc only seemed to happen to me when the water got cold). He gave me a some sure set hooks and I put them on the rear of my crawl crank and the problem was solved. Caught two more on that day, and a striper, and all were mouth hooked. Been back a couple of time since and haven't had that problem since. If you see this guy, he's super nice and helpful. Wish I could remember his name.
  16. I don't use braid too much, but I found Stren Super Braid to be good stuff and it didn't lose its color.
  17. Hey wait. Work it the same way you would a Skitter Pop. See my previous post
  18. Corky, do I know you? A month or two ago (maybe in October) at the ramp at Chickahominy Wildlife Management Area? There was a fella there with red hair, and a blue/white Basscat with rails on the side. (I have a Tracker Grizzly 1548). He and I chatted awhile. Said he lived in Charles City, VA. Used to work in Richmond and just retired and moved to CC County. He clued me in on Sure Set hooks and gave me one when we crossed paths on the water. I put it on my red craw Bomber. Later, I gave him some shakey heads. We ramped at the same time and helped two old guys whose battery died and they couldn't get their hood open. Was that you?? I got 4 that day, one about 4 lbs. And one striper. I've killed them up until recently with the craw lures (6 foot divers). I went out and bought a bunch of them after that trip. Lemme know if that was you. That was a great day. If it wasn't you, it sound very coincidental. And I can tell you Morris Creek hold much bigger fish than 2 lbs. It's a great body of water to fish - relatively clear water with a nice hard bottom, some structure in the channel, and lots of forage fish.
  19. Ask or send a PM to TheRedTorpedo. He's a C3 fan and can probably answer your questions.
  20. Here's mine: Bernard the dog Emma the cat Snowflake the Corn Snake Big Shadow the Eastern King Snake Little Shadow the other Eastern King Snake
  21. I did misread it. :-[ Sorry. Carry on.
  22. When you say #8 and #10, you are talking about the length? I only know them as the little and big X-Raps. I just bought two of the new (I think they are new) 12 cm X-Raps today.
  23. Cast, pause, then chug it. You can walk it, too. Make it make a racket. I like the skitter pop - it sits with its tail way down, like the Storm Chug Bug.
  24. I just got another one for Christmas. It's the STX in 6.4:1 - my first Revo in 6.4:1. I put it on a Fenwick HMG 7' MH rod. I going to sleep with it tonight.
  25. I just bought a 2007 Browning Citori spinning rod to replace the one I destroyed in the ceiling fan a few months ago. The $79.99 sticker was covered with an $89.99 sticker. > Now I notice yet another price increase on that rod. The 2008 BPS catalog lists them now for $99. The 2008 model is a 50 million mod rod and has Fuji aluminum oxide guides, versus the old model that was 47 million mod and had alconite guides. :
