Do you take your dog fishing?
Sometimes. He has a pretty good roll cast and I'm learning a lot from him.

winch?
If you like the Revo STX, just get one in 6.4:1 speed. It will handle smaller cranks just fine. It's not a problem at all adapting your retrieve speed to make it work for you.

Upper James smallmouth fishing?
Where Rt 60 crosses the James. Can't think of the name but it's the the only spot where the James and Rt 60 intersect. Edit: it's call Bent Creek in Appomattox Co.

Jerkbait question
[ch1093]2 x3 x4. The Squad Minnow is a great bait. Jackall advertises that it stops quickly and it really does. Makes for a very good presentation.

What Is A Good Baitcaster For Throwing Crankbaits?
The Sol retrieves at 23.6 IPT and the High Power at 22 IPT. Not a whole lot of difference.

What Is A Good Baitcaster For Throwing Crankbaits?
For throwing small to medium crankbaits I'd go with the Daiwa Zillion High Power or Shimano Curado E5. I have the Zillion and it will handle any crank from 1/4 oz on up very well. I used to own a Curado 200DPV (same spool as the E5, I think) and it, likewise, would handle lighter baits well. I would not receommend the Revo Winch unless you will be primarily casting heavier (1/2 oz+) crankbaits.

your wildest animal encounter while fishing....
I had a large Northern Water Snake crawl up my motor and entagle itself in the hinge. And on two occassions I had myopic old muskrats swim to my boat and try to find a way in. The wildest thing I ever witnessed was this last weekend. A blue heron had nested in the top of a cypress tree. A bald eagle came down to its nest. A fight ensued and the eagle dropped through the trees before flying off with its prize - a big blue heron chick. Feathers came down like snow.

Anyone listen to gospel music?
(Not a religious discussion, just a talk about the artists in the genre.) I'm not much into gospel music. But growing up, my mom would sing it to herself and I would listen and I always loved the old time songs. There's few that do it really well. This guy, Buddy Greene, a rather unassuming looking character, is one who does. I could listen to this guy all day. If you like gospel (and even if you don't) this guy is worth a listen. His harmonica skills are incredible. Some selected Youtube videos (he starts slow, but give him time...) Shall We gather At the River

ardent reels
I don't own an Ardent, but every one that I have ever held and cranked seemed rough. None exhibited the sort of fit and finish I would expect from a reel in that price range. And, frankly, the designs are bizarre, as highlighted in the Tackle Tour piece. Why on earth Ardent would design a reel that required the removal of the spool from the crank-side to finger-adjust the brakes is beyond me. I'm all for an American-made reel. But that seems to be the primary selling point.

Quantum vs Shimano
Just wait for the Curado F. Should be out soon. Pretty soon you can own the whole alphabet.

This what they are talking about. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewardentxs1000.html

Hijacked? NOT!
Man, everyone in this ordeal came out a hero. The crew fought the pirates. The captain offered himself in exchange for the ship and the crew. The SEALs took out the remaining pirates. Everyone acted in the highest standards. Hats off to every one of them.

Shaky Head
Man, in that milk you must have hit her on the head with the lure. You can't even see the bottom of your tube.

Rage Tail baits - the next generation
You can fish it any number of ways - like a frog, as a trailer, etc. Rigged as previously described, I like to swim it slowly just under the surface with periodic pauses so that is sinks a little.

Someone please help me with this crankbait
I went to BPS in Hampton this evening. I remembered this thread and looked to see if maybe they had a lure in the color you posted. They didn't.

Pointer 100 vs Vision 110
I don't think so, either. I have several and they don't impress me $25 worth.

Rage Tail baits - the next generation
Are you serious? A 3" anaconda sounds - interesting. I was kinda hoping for a multi-colored space monkey - green pumpkin/pearl belly. I'm friggin' sold on this bait. I've fished it since Big-O sent us samples last year. I had been fishing it weightless or with a pegged bullet weight. But since I've started using Owner 4/0 1/8 oz weighted Twist Lock hooks, this bait really stands out even more. It stays sumberged except on a very fast retrieve. It sinks virtually horizontally. The slightest forward movement imparts action. And I've noticed a very subtle side to side action on these hooks I hadn't noticed on other hooks. Hook-ups are effortless, suddenly, the fish is just there. I'm just sorry I concentrated on hard baits so much earlier in the week.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid question
Last season I used 15# YZ Hybrid on my flipping rod. That's the heaviest I use. No problems using a palomar knot. I use 8# on my light crankbait/topwater rod, 10# on a couple of other rods including my crankbait rod, and 12# on my plastics rods. I use 8# on one of my spinning rigs.

Reaction Strike Revolution Shad
Apparently their lures make very nice decorations in fishing-themed restaurants.

Rage Tail baits - the next generation
Don't bother. You'll never top the space monkey. Ever. I had the week off. I fished Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I fished hardbaits only on the first three day. Caught 3 bass (and some shad and pickerel) Sunday, a few more on Monday and Wednesday. Had hard luck on hard baits on Saturday and switched over to Space Monkeys. My son and I stopped counting bass at around 17. Every bass we caught was on those silly looking space monkeys.
