  1. No. I have found it to be more trouble than it's worth. The KVD I've tried on Yo-Zuri Hybrid only had a slight effect and had to be reapplied frequently to maintain the slight benefit it achieved. And I saw no effect on fluoro I applied it to.
  2. DUDE is right! That's awesome!
  3. Ooooh, Leupold. Love the way they taste. Great scopes!
  4. The Weatherby Vanguard is a very good gun. It is made by the Japanese company Howa. Howa is an old and respect Japanese company that builds civilian and military guns. Not sure if the Vanguard is still actually made in Japan, but the Vanguard in .270 Winchester I owned years ago was. Mine had a matte blue finish and synthetic stock. It was light and very accurate. It shot as well or better than any other rifle I've owned. The fit, finish and smoothness of the action were very good. For the money, they are very hard to beat.
  5. LOL, they are wood. I had to look at them under a magnifying glass. My eyes are getting old. Are they glued in?

CZs are phenomenal. The ergonomics of the CZ75 are about perfect. I have a CZ75B Compact, too, that I regularly carry. It is not only exceptionally comfortable to hold and shoot, it has been utterly reliable with 115, 124 and 147 grain full metal jacket and hollow point ammo. And accuracy is outstanding. Sites are nice and high. I can't say enough good things about it. I've owned several brands of 9mm - Sig, Beretta, Glock - and the CZ is as good as any of them, and it won't break the bank. CZs ought to cost a lot more than they do.
  7. The hard bluegill comes with a spare plastic tail. The tail appears to be held in with two brass pins. What's the trick on replacing the tails? Just push the pins out and reinstall the tail and replace the pins? Are the pins tapered so they only go in and out one way? BTW, I don't need to replace the tails yet, but was just curious for when I did.

Virginia allows you to take them online, too.
  9. May be old news. But this is a nice change from the old crap website that was optimized for 800X600 resolution. http://www.abugarcia.com Hopefully Fenwick follows suit.

Virginia is very firearms-friendly. The one-handgun-per-month scheme is about our worst restriction and was implemented to appease our northern neighbor states who blame all their crime woes on the rights Virginians enjoy. BTW, you can buy all the long guns you want at once in Virginia. Virginia is a "shall issue" state with respect to CHPs. Meaning if you pass a criminal background check and take a safety course, your locality MUST issue a CHP to you. And the state restricts how many hoops a locality can make you jump through, or how much they can charge, to get one. Once you have one, its good for 5 years, you can renew by mail, and exempts you from the one-gun-per-month restriction. Virginia lawmakers are increasingly voicing their desire to eliminate the one-gun-per-month law.
  11. I'm guessing he went in for an appendectomy and came out a woman. Happens all the time.

One of the reasons I got a permit was so that I would have more options on transporting my handguns. At the time I got it, you had to leave the gun out in view if you didn't have a permit. That means on the dashboard or on the seat beside you. Now I think Virginia has amended their laws to allow handgun owners without CHPs to put them in their glove compartments.
  13. I don't know, but everything he posts is worth reading. So what does it matter?

Concealed Handgun Permit holders are exempted from the 1-gun-per-month limitation. I have one. CHP holders can buy as many handguns at once as they can afford. Unfortunately, I think I've reached my limit for awhile >.
  15. Sorry you gave up fishing. That jig looks well used - and that's when they look the best. Because you know they've been in a bunch of bass mouths. Great photography. Hope you can get back into fishing soon. Sometimes the immediate urge to fish goes away, but it's always lurking deep down and will resurface at any time.

CZs are fantastic guns. You are right - a heckuva lotta gun for the money. The CZ in the picture is my 3rd CZ. I have a CZ83 .380 and another CZ75B - the Compact in 9mm. The CZ75s, and all CZs, are exceptionally well built and are as close to ergonomically perfect as it gets.

Ordered a couple of new 9mms on Tuesday and picked them up tonight. Got a Sig Sauer P229R and a CZ75B. Can't wait to get out and put some rounds through them.
  18. WTH? Burley's sick? Thoughts and prayers with you, brutha. If anyone can overcome, though, its' someone from Southwest By God Virginia.

Congrats, Sam! To the rest of you, how'd you like to be Sam's grandson? You know that's gonna be one fishin' fool when he grows up. ;D
  20. I think the Superintendent acted heroically claiming he was responsible for signing the papers. d**n shame how that all fell out. I think he was suicidal, too. On a more morbid note, that was one big dude and whatever he got shot with the first time barely made him flinch.
  21. We are about a month away. http://www.ncboatshows.com/show.php/eventId/3 I'm hoping Burley shows (if he's still alive) 'cuz I never got that stink-palm he promised me last year.
  22. The Core 100MgFV has brass gears, unlike other Cores which have aluminum gears. I use my Core 100MgFV almost exclusively for frogs and it is stellar in this role. I have it spooled with 50# braid. I happen to love the Instagage feature. When I'm pitching, I like being able to reengage the reel before I switch hands. For what its worth, the Daiwa Zillion is a great frog reel. It is robust and has a thumbar you can reengage simply by pushing up on it. That feature is very valuable to me.
  23. I think your best bet on The Chick is to fish tight to structure and fish slow. Water temps a few weeks ago were 51, so they are surely deep into the 40s now. When I fish The Chick with very low water temps, I fish closer to the dam and deeper water. Regardless of water depth, I usually find fish at about 8-12 feet. Sometimes a bit deeper. But rarely below 15 or so feet. I've had luck on jigs, silver buddies, small lipless, slow sinking senkos, and suspending cranks. In fact, the fish in my avatar was caught on The Chick a few weeks ago.
  24. Redline, PM RussBert. He is a machinist and he does incredible work. I've seen some of his reel and pistol work. And the tools he has made. If there is anyone on this board that could get it done, I'd put money on him.
