All, Dicks Sporting Goods is opening a new store in Dale City/Woodbridge Virginia. It is going to be in the old Lowes building across the street from Best Buy. This is good news as we will finally have a decent store to buy fishing supplies at locally.

I prefer the swim senkos myself and have good luck fishing them. They are a little on the soft side so they will tear depending on how the bass hit them and they can get expensive to replace all the time. I have gone to custom poured ones that are just a little bit different so it does not infringe on the trademark. These custome poured ones are cheaper and they have garlic scent in them. I get twice as many worms for the same price.

If you continue to have problems with the way the frog runs start using a keel weighted hook, it will help keep in running correctly. Also remember that the first thing the bass will try to do when it attacks a frog is to disable it by biting at the legs and then eat it. You need to give the bass a second or two to eat the frog before you set the hook otherwise the bass is going to let go of the frog. I have really good luck with these frogs and I have caught more bass on top water with them than any other bait.

In clear water you may want to slow down and downsize your presentations as well as use your lighter colored baits. Also remember if you can see the fish, they can see you. I would also try to get out earlier in the morning around sunrise if you can, and throw some top water baits, the bite should be better in the early morning than mid day.

Depends on the location and my confidence at that location. For new locations I use search baits first then switch out to my confidence baits once I locate the bass.

What were the water conditions like (temp and clarity)? Was there any grass or hydrilla? Was it sunny or overcast? What was the air temp? Were you throwing into the shaded areas? to the forum.

My uncle (in Nashua, NH) told me a story about his neighbors son and hunting that was unreal. It turns out the kid (21 years old) went out deer hunting and shot and killed a moose instead. It gets better, he decided to take it home and put it in their garage. Well one of the neighbors saw this and called the game warden and reported them. When the game warden got there and confirmed the report he confiscated the guns, the truck, the kids hunting license and he even tried to take the home. The father ended up spending over $10,000 in legal fees because of his kids ignorance and he never got the truck or the guns back but he saved his house. Needless to say the kid got booted out of the house and was told he was no longer welcome in the house until he paid his dad back over $25,000 for the truck and guns that they took and the $10,000 in legal fees. My uncle told me the dad almost beat the crap out of his kid and had to be restrained. The game wardens have an unbelievable amount of power. Oh yeah they took the moose and gave the meat to the prison system in New Hampshire.

Being a life long sox fan I have mixed emotions on this one. Manny did help us win two world series championships. I just wish he had kept his mouth shut and worked out his problems with management. I know the last two series (Yankees and Angels) he was dogging it and that didn't help the situation at all. I had faith that Theo Epstein was going to get to the heart of the problem and get it worked out rather than trade him. I mean if you look at it from Manny's perspective every year he has been on the trading block. How would you feel if your boss tried to get rid of you every year and you knew what he was doing. Just a thought..... he had to feel disrespected.

Nice job fishing out there. It looks like you had a good day fishing that area. I know that area pretty well and it always has a good bite no matter what the conditions are. I was there fishing yesterday and caught 6 LMBs in about 90 minutes.

I have a Rapala digital scale, it cost me less than $30. I would agree that the spring loaded scales are not accurate.

I have a KVD Signature Series (Quantum) that I like. I am still getting used to a baitcaster and am not getting as many birds nests after learning how to adjust it. I also like the flippin switch on it.

Sounds like fun, I have had good luck with the spooks as well. Top water fishing is my favorite by far, I love watchingthe bass explode on the lures.

Most of mine in this thread are in the 2.5lb to 3.5lb range. That fish in your picture looks like it is some where between 3.5 and 5 pounds best I can tell. The one in my avatar is 6.5lb just to give you an idea of size. You should pick up a scale at Walmart, they are less than $20.
