  1. Thanks Kent, I was hoping that would be the case.
  2. Have any of you returned broken fishing rods to BPS? I have two that I bought both within the last six months that I need to return. One of the rod tips broke on one of them last night, the other one has a chunk of cork that has fallen off the handle. I have receipts and hope I will not have any problems returning them. These ar BPS Tourney Special (IM7) rods.

I have only encountered them once, they wanted to see everything, at first I almost felt like I was being harassed. But then I thought about it and realized that they are just doing there job. They are just protecting the fisheries around here so it is a good thing that they are being thorough.
  4. I wouldn't mind trying to cook that up and eat it, I am sure it must be pretty good since I like crab meat.
  5. My wife looks at all of the stuff I buy (I don't hide anything) and always asks why I need to purchase more. I just tell her that new baits come out all the time and I want to make sure I have some for my son and I to fish. I am starting to have a storage problem and will most likely need to buy or build a cabinet to start storing my gear because I only bring and use about 15 to 25% of my gear with me on any given fishing trip. I am constantly rearranging my tackleboxes based on the locations that I fish. Eventually I will have enough to just pack up multiple tackle boxes and then just grap one of them based on where I am going.
  6. FYI: Some people have had issues with the frogs running upside down you can eliminate the problem by using a keel weighted hook. I have only had a couple of toads that had this issue and corrected it by stopping my retrieve for a couple of seconds and then giving it a slight twitch of the rod. I then reel in the toad normally and it is runs fine.
  7. to the forum. There is a wealth of knowledge here and I recommend that you take advantage of it by reading as much as possible. This site has taught me a lot about bass fishing over the last year and I know I still have a lot to learn. Thank god for all of the great people on this forum that have helped me and continue to help me become a better bass fisherman.
  8. You are supposed to break the tabs on the ends of the legs. I have been using these for almost two months, they are awesome baits and they are my go to top water bait.
  9. I work tomorrow, if you can give me at least a week or two advanced notice I can take a vacation day and go with you.
  10. Sounds like a good day Nitro. When are you going to take me out on this private lake?
  11. I heard that they are pretty good with replacing broken fishing rods. I have the receipt and it is only 4 months old so I don't expect to have any problems returning it.
  12. They will not be available until October.
  13. I went fishing this afternoon and fished my honey hole. When I got there it was low tide and I could barely paddle my canoe out into the bay. The hydrilla has almost doubled in the last two weeks, man is it thick. Well I decided to throw my usual top water (Ragetail toad) which never lets me down in this bay no matter the time of day. However today I only got three bites and did not land any of them. I got frustrated out in the bay due to the heat and the heavy mats of hydrilla so I decided to head into the creek since the hydrilla was not as thick. I began throwing a Terminator spinnerbait and on my second cast I caught a nice 2.5 lb lmb. As I headed further into the creek I decided to keep throwing the sinnerbait and within 90 minutes I caught 6 lmbs for a total of 13lbs, the top 5 went 11.5lbs. That would be a top five finish in a lot of the local tournaments here so I felt pretty good. However right as I was lifting my rod so I could lip the last bass my rod tip broke, man was I bummed. It looks like I need to make a run up to BPS and have them replace the rod (a BPS Tourney Special IM7). I will post pictures in a little bit after I get them off my cell phone when it is done charging back up.
  14. Paul, it was cool running into you since I had never met you before. I didn't have any luck either, just one bite on a new Strike King Anaconda that a tournament buddy gave to me to try. This was one of my first times fishing deep water 15-25 feet and it was a whole new experience. I guess I have a lot to learn about fishing deep based on the fact that I got skunked. This is only the third time I have been skunked this year. Maybe one day we can hook up and actually fish together.

Don't get me wrong I would pay what ever the cost is to take care of my dog because he is like a member of the family. I love him and would be crushed if I ever lost him. I just was disappointed that it cost me $100 for the two shots.
  18. Great report and pics. You are really tearing it up on those ragetail shad. I am waiting for you to post a picture of a big ole hawg, you are due to get one as often as you are throwing that shad.
  19. The other thing is we have to plan on the tides being right. We need to fish a few hours before the high tide and a few hours after the high tide. That way we do not get stuck back in the creek.
  20. I fish the ragetail and have really good luck with them. They have helped me catch a lot of fish on the tidal Potomac River.
  21. I am thinking we should fish Powells Creek. We would have a little extra paddling to do to get to the creek from the first boat ramp but if we hug the shoreline we should be able to cruise over there quickly in the canoe. We would have to do this in the very near future due to Steph being due in September.
  22. I just got off the phone with one of the Leesylvania State Park Officials, she stated that you just have to register at the first building when you enter the park. The reason for this is they know where you plan on fishing and they you need to provide them with information about the boat that you will be putting in the water. She further stated that there is an automated gate for exiting the park so you can leave when ever you want. Oh yeah I almost forgot, there is no fee for this if you have the one year launch and parking pass.
  23. Good job Kevin, those are some nice looking fish.
