  1. Yeah that is kind of funny. I was dissapointed at the closings. Do you know how often that happens?
  2. I fished Lungs today, the air temp was in the 80's the water temp was 64 degrees, there was a nice breeze with a few wind gusts in the high teens. Two portions of the lake were closed due to exercises taking place on base so I could'nt check out the whole lake. The water visibility was about 3-4 feet, I am not used to seeing water this clear in NOVA. The lake level is also very low and I had to drive the 4Runner into the water pretty far back to launch. I ended up catching one dink and a nice size chain pickerel on a swim senko. It appeared to be a tough day for most people there that I talked to. I am guessing the bass were spawning or on beds in the sections of the lake that were closed. Here is the only picture I have from today.
  3. Zara Spook or a Jitterbug
  4. I am going to try throwing them a little bit tomorrow and see if I get any takers as I will fishing a deep water lake. I agree that there are a lot of other good crankbaits that work well and I do throw a lot of crankbaits. I will report back on these Dancin' Eels tomorrow night. They were only three bucks so if they don't work it is not a real big deal.
  5. Jay, I am on vacation starting tomorrow and it I off until May 1st. We can launch at one of the Quantico lakes next Tuesday. They do rent jon boats at Lake Lunga, I don't know what the cost is. Trevor, that is correct it covers both hunting and fishing.
  6. I contacted the wildlife resource office at Quantico and they said both Lake Lunga and Smith lake water levels are ok for launching boats. I will have to also check out Smith Lake one day as well. It is $10 for a one year pass to all of the lakes at Quantico MCB.
  7. The visibillity was about 6-12 inches.
  8. I am going to launch when they open and I plan on spending the whole day fishing this lake. I will report back and let all of you know how the fishing is on this lake Thursday night when I get back.
  9. I went to Mercer this afternoon and found all of the trails along the shore were under water. There is next to no where to stand to cast out into the lake. I had my boots on and trucked through the water and mud and caught 1 dink and lost one nice bass about 3 to 4 pounds about 15 feet from the shore when it jumped out of the water for the fourth time and through my lure. I am going to pass on this lake Thursday morning and let the water level receed and let the shore dry up some before I go back.
  10. I am hoping to be there around 6:00 to 6:30 in the morning. I want to get there right as the sun is coming up. I will be there with Jay and I am hoping that Jay lands a new PB.
  11. I am bringing my boat and launching it Thursday afternoon. I will report back and let you know how the fishing goes. I plan on being out on the water for about 6 to 7 hours. Hopefully my friend and I can find some hawgs in this lake.
  12. I don't know how much the pass is but I am buying one anyways. You buy them at the entrance to the park at this lake. There are walleye, perch and bass. I am going Thursday afternoon after I get back from Mercer.
  13. Has anyone fished this lake? I am going to buy a pass and go fish this lake this week. One guy at work claims he has caught some nice hawgs here.
  14. The new home building in Northern Virginia is slowing down. The existing home values are also dropping pretty quickly.
  15. Lipless cranks have done well for me in similar situations.
  16. I have caught a couple of bass on rooster tails.
  17. I am going to try these out Thursday on a lake where I have been having extremely good luck fishing. I am hoping to land another hawg and hoepfully this bait will work well.
  18. This is my year fishing the spawn so I really can't say what to expect as to when the ladies will be spawning. My gut tells me that the cooler water has put the spawn off to a certain degree, how much I don't know. But I agree with JCrzy4Bass that the crankbait bite may pick back up again over the next couple of days. I guess I will find out this Thursday when I fish Lake Mercer.

I bought one pack last year and caught a few bass with them.
  20. LBH, you may find that funny but I don't. Not every one is an expert bass fisherman like you. I am sure there is some bait you have yet to master. I know I can admit that I have still have much to learn about different baits and techniques.
  21. Rob, I feel for you since I have been in that situation, go back and catch her. Just make sure you get a good picture for us to see. I still want the trophy bass that got away the day I caught the 6lb 8oz bass, it had to be btween 8 and 9 lbs. I will catch it before the season ends. The reason I say that is I am going to put a canoe in that lake and hunt it down begining the middle of next month sfter I buy my canoe.
  22. I throw the swim senkos in the grass mats in the Potomac most of the time. But they have also caught me fish in other waters. I disagree that anyone can catch a bass with them because I know people who still have yet to catch a bass with senkos.
  23. I always swap the hooks with Gamakatzu hooks for that one reason.
  24. Sorry RW I was just trying to say that I can catch a lot of bass throwing senkos.
  25. They may not last a long time but they catch bass when other plastics will not. I caught a lot of bass throwing swim senkos last year and know I will do the same this year. They have out performed every other plastic I have thrown.
