Glenn, Once again thanks for the pictures and videos.

Rate ESPN's coverage of the classic......
ESPN made some good money off of the classic, don't think that they didn't. As for coverage, day was pathetic at best the rest of the coverage was good. ESPN could have done a much better job than they did but they wanted people to pay for coverage over the net instead, that much is obvious. You couldn't miss the spot to pay for coverage of the classic. I would hope that they provide better coverage on the rest of the tournaments this year. If they can spend 48 hours covering tennis and hours on poker they ceratinly can and should do a better job covering the classic. Just my .02

Northern Virginia Pre Spawn Get Together Thread
Rob, I hope I didn't come off wrong either, if I did I didn't mean to. I know you are a nice guy, you are cool to fish with and you are a generous person. I did not get a chance to see any of the pictures on your cell phone but I will trust you that you have them. Like Jay stated this is a get together to have fun and meet each other. I just have not personally seen any good size lmbs pulled out of this lake and that is all I was trying to say. By the way, how is your daughter doing? I hope she is recovering well.

Finally caught some LMBs this winter
I park near the entrance (gate) to the dam. It is only a two minute walk down to the dam.

Looking for a "can't miss" weekend in NOVA.
There are plenty of places to fish however the fishing will still be tuff in March unless we see a big warm up to get the fish into an early pre-spawn. I think you would be better waiting until April for the fish to get into pre-spawn mode. If you can wait until April I would try fishing either Mercer, Huntsman, Burke, Occoquan Resevior or Royal. All of these places should be good to fish in April. I personally have caught my biggest lmbs at Mercer and Huntsman.

It is pretty obvious from the picture if you have been there. If not then I would have to say that is Lake Huntsman.

Northern Virginia Pre Spawn Get Together Thread
Rob, Where are all of the pictures of the hawgs being pulled out of Lake Royal? To date I have only seen you show us one old picture of a hawg being pulled out of that lake, and that was from years ago. Out of the three times that I have been a part of get togethers on Lake Royal I have only seen dinks pulled out of the lake. It may be a good lake to fish, but I don't see it that way right now. I would love to be proven wrong by someone here on this forum. It would only take someone to post pictures of the hawgs that they have caught on Lake Royal last season. I personally have seen more hawgs pulled out of Mercer and Huntsman. I am not trying to argue with you, I am just stating what I have first hand knowledge of. I have put up pictures of some hawgs on this forum showing what has been caught at both Lake Mercer and Lake Huntsman.

I vote for Jay picking the location, he was the man with the idea. I will fish at any location that Jay chooses, all local lakes have decent access for fishing. I do not have a problem with any of our local lakes.

Coverage for day two was great on ESPN2. Thank you ESPN, what a difference a day makes, good coverage for day2. What a huge improvement from yesterday.

Slomoe, What do you think? You have fished with me before. Dan, Close to it. They were lined up on the point, I had a lot of bites today. Unfortunately only two keepers.

Finally caught some LMBs this winter
I went out today and caught two keepers, one 3.75lb and one 2.25lbs. Sorry about the quality of the pictures I used my cell phone to take them. These are the first fish of the year for me. I was in a dry spell since early December. Here is the first one (3.75 lbs)

Classic Day One (pics and video)
Great pictures and videos guys, thanks for posting them. I just wish ESPN would get their act together. The coverage this morning on ESPN2 was terrible at best, they only showed about 15 to 20 minutes of actual fishing in a show that was 90 minutes. The ESPN executives in charge of the classic should be reprimanded due to the pathetic coverage they showed. I woke up early and I was excited to watch the day one coverage and it turned out to be a big disappointment. I guess ESPN has decided to force people to pay money on their website if they want to see the classic coverage. Shame on you ESPN!!!! You have no problem putting almost 48 hours of coverage for tennis a couple of weeks ago (all weekend long) but this is best you can do for coverage of the classic. Sorry guys I just needed to vent.

Northern Virginia Pre Spawn Get Together Thread
Rob, What is wrong with Mercer? It is really easy to navigate around the lake. I have walked all the way around that lake at least a couple of times. It also has some hawgs in it that should start getting active soon. CJBS2003 to the forum!! Ron

Thinking about making my own plastics
Cory N, Thanks for the link, that is a sweet write up explaining how to make the molds. I am looking forward to buying the supplies, making my molds and pouring my own plastics. I plan on impregnating them with salt and garlic. I will put up pictures once I make my first batch. Thanks again, Ron

Thinking about making my own plastics
I am thinking about learning how to make my own molds and pour my own plastics. Has anyone here on the forum done this to make there own custom plastics? If so is it hard to learn how to do this?
