  1. Come to think of it, it didn't even have hooks. And I doubt lucky crafts hooks would hold up too well to floating around in the ocean and sitting on a beach. I got it to walk, the action was just too much for me. :-?
  2. I found one on the beach; switched out the hooks. Tried walking it like I would my spooks, but didn't have any luck. The action looked/felt weird; don't know if I was doing it right. Havn't given it any more tries lately.
  3. You won't be able to find them retail. People have been scooping them up to sell on ebay etc. Not only the paddletails are all sold out, but basstrix's other products are starting to as well due to the brand.
  4. baitmonkey just grabbed me by the balls. ***... and the wait begins, christmas t-minus 6 days!
  5. way to spread the disease, now I want an airbrush. :-?
  6. Didn't really mean for this to be a suggestion thread, but thanks for the suggestions. I have a fairly good idea of what cranks I want to get. One question I do have, is how often can I expect to lose a crank. From what I've read, running/bumping them off wood/rocks is the thing to do.
  7. So I just started to REALLY get into bass fishing, and I'm building up my tackle. While fishing, I'm finding I'll immediately reach for a few select lures to tie on, and a fairly large amount of my tackle is being unfished. I'm primarily using braid as well, so I really havn't been losing any lures. Right now the glaring hole in my tackle is my lack of crankbaits. I havn't fished many standard cranks; mostly lipless/rattle traps. This is my question and it dosn't apply to just crankbaits; When does quality trump quantity? Say you were going to spend $30 on crankbaits (or any other lure type), would you rather buy 6 ~$5 lures, or 3 more premium lures, such as lucky craft brand. As far as the question goes assume you won't lose any of them. Buying the six lures gives you the advantage of having a more diverse selection of models/patterns. The 3 lures gives you higher quality lures/better action (assuming your not paying for the brand)/ more confidence? Of course many people like a $2 lure more than any other lure and will swear by it, but if you havn't fished a wide variety of similar lures you aren't likely to come across that cheap confidence bait. In a lot of the saltwater fishing I do there isn't as much competition between the brands. One company is known for a certain type of lure, and that's what people get. "buy the best you can afford" dosn't pertain to the question!
  8. I was thinking about picking up a couple of these, went back to look again after ur post and now they arent on sale!
  9. I'm looking for a similar dorm room proof rod. Only the Bionic Blades in 1 piece are on sale. >
  10. sounds fun, congrats on the new boat
  11. yup was having a good day, and broke my rod as well. > Rod breaking fever.
  12. something with a hook on it
  13. $5 for 200 o-rings on ebay. Also a standard pen cap works just fine for rigging o-rings onto baits. No reason to buy a tool.
  14. Broke my Clarus yesterday. Was walking along a steep bank, stepped on a loose rock, slipped and the tip broke in three pieces against a rock. :-[ Doubt Shimano would cover it, any ideas? Didn't buy it at a big chain like Cabelas, nor have the proof of purchase.
  15. seems like an on topic question. Any way to get a rough estimate of weight by measuring using length, girth etc...? For example generally a 20 inch fish will weigh X amount of pounds and above.
  16. any scales you guys recommend? I need to pick one up.
  17. Craigslist is a great option. Most people I know have found their cars/boats through craigslist.
  18. Ok, i'll write that one off.
  19. what other swimbaits are comparable at around $8? Anyone fished the Megabait Charlie? Castiac? Reaction strike? Looking for swimbaits under 1.5oz, $10.
  20. Spent the afternoon on foot looking for structure and throwing spooks at Bon Tempe Lake (norcal). The lake is stocked with rainbow trout, never seen someone else targetting bass but I've heard of some big bass taking peoples trout. Found some promising structure. Got this guy to bite. ~15 inches And the true hog of the day. ;D
  21. www.del-mart.com, calhoun plastic. Just started pouring myself. Are you planning on buying a mold or making your own? There is a good plaster mold tutorial on bass resource.
  22. Storm swimbaits... salt and freshwater.. >
