is 5K a good price in your guys opinion (considering engine runs fine)? Comparing it on Boattrader, Ebay and Craigslist it seems to be a pretty good deal

the trailer has new surge brakes on it too (for the Astro). i should be fine towing it with a v6 ford explorer (with tow package), correct?

Deciding between these two rigs....advice?
Hi All, I'm purchasing my first bass boat this month and need to make a decision before someone else buys. I've got it down to two fiberglass boats. Both are in good condition and in my opinion both these boats are super deals. The owners want 5k but I'm sure I'll be able to get them down. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Option 1: 1994 Astro 18' 6" 150 HP Black Max Mercury Option 2: 1994 Nitro 19' 150 HP Suzuki

Cajon De Pena
Im heading back down to Mexico this Sunday and will be in Puerto Vallarta. I'll obviously be fitting in some bassing . I was wondering if anyone can recommend any good lakes within 90 or so miles. Aquamilpa is just too far to drive. I've heard Cajon is good but don't know much else. Does anyone have experience fishing Cajon or any other lakes/reservoirs around Puerto Vallarta. Any opinions and feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

mexico fishing questions
I just returned from Mexico and fished two days up at El Salto. The fishing was good but no trophies were caught unfortunately. The first day I caught a couple 4 lber's and lost a 6 and the second day my best was a touch under 4 lbs. Overall good, but still dissapointing for a lake like El Salto. The tilapia fishermen have nets out apparently 10 days on and 10 days off and many times the bass are temporarily sequestered and sometimes even killed (my second day the nets were everywhere) . This, not fishing pressure, I believe has put a damper on things if anything. This is definitely still a trophy fishery though. The impression I got is that Comedero is actually a better lake for trophies now, but due to the dangers (bandits, lawlessness, etc) there are only a few operations being run up there. I've heard from numerous sources that Comedero is the most underrated lake in Mexico....and these have been native Mexicans telling me this.

Differing Opinions on Water Clarity and Lure Color
excellent info, thanks very much! I was out today and as usual the bass weren't chasing anything, since July I've had to lay it on their noses to get a strike, and the aggressiveness of the strikes have been weak and "half-assed" (even with my bigger fish). The vast majority of my fish have come on the first 20% of the retrieve. The reason I bring this is up is the previous mention of important factors in murky water; most notably vibration, flash and sound. Unfortunately, lures with these properties don't constitute finesse fishing (I don't think). Does anyone have any lure/bait ideas to prove me wrong? Because of the bass' behavior I've been forced to use soft plastics. I'll be out tomorrow afternoon and I definitely will experiment with contrasting colors and some light colored selections. Up to this point, the lightest color I've used all summer has been a darkish blue.

Differing Opinions on Water Clarity and Lure Color
I fish a small lake with extremely low visibility (<1 ft.) and have heard differing opinions on lure color choice. Some say using dark colors are effective because of the reflective factors of the stained water which make the bait more visible. On the other hand, some say using bright contrasting colors are the most effective because THEY provide more visibility. I'd love to hear any opinions from the well seasoned. Thanks!

Losing Fish
wow guys what a great help. thanks so much for all the feedback. 1. I DO indeed most times raise my arms/shoulders on the hookset so the reel is being lifted up...I tend to get a bit excited and use alot more arm and a lot less wrist lol. 2. I DONT skin hook my senkos or creatures, I bury them. 3. I dont know how realistic this is but would an unhooked fish actually stay on for half of the fight not wanting to let go of the bait? Virtually all my plastics are salt impregnated. Most time when I lose fish it almost feels as if theyve just let go of the bait. There is no slight recoil or any feeling like they shook a hook.

Losing Fish
Hi all, new to the forum here. great place by the way I've been having big problems keeping my bass on this summer... losing over 50% of my fish. I'm using soft plastics with Gamakatsu regular offset shank and ewg hooks and generally use a 4/0. Could it be my hookset or something im doing with my rod once I have them hooked. It appears I'm maintaining proper pressure on the fish....I'm very confused and any input would be highly appreciated! Thanks.
