BPS makes some reallly good rods. I have 3 Extremes and love them (m/mh/h). I'm not high on their house reels but the rods (Bionic Blades and up) are an incredible value. I just bought an Abu Garcia Vendetta and it looks nice but that's about it...was very disappointed with the sensitivity so I returned and just bought another Extreme. Got some cash back in the pocket and can feel the bite again

Greg, It's called Cajon De Pena. I fished it two years ago and caught less than ten bass in 9 hours of fishing (all under 3 pounds). Unfortunately there are no restrictions and the locals keep everything they catch. It has really hurt the fishery. It is only 5000 acres which makes matters worse. I would recommend Lake Aguamilpa which is much further but a really good fishery.

I will be visiting the Fort Myers area next Monday through Thursday and would love to fit in some fishing if possible. I'm wondering if anyone in the area might be interested in doing Okeechobee (would love to go!) or any other quality lakes within an hour or two of the area. I just picked up the new Curado and am currently looking for a good rod and line setup to match it specifically for long distance casting; search baits, etc. Does anyone have any input on brand, length, action on the rods ...and brand, size, and type of line? I appreciate it!

SirSnook, I brought my girlfriend down who doesn't fish and she loved it! I hate to admit she actually outfished me, but she did lol. She caught a really big permit and 4 other species. The lodge we used doesn't charge for an extra person on the boat and picked us up with their shuttle from our hotel for the daytrip. ...Who knows, you may be able to convert your wife into one of us

SirSnook, I just returned from the cancun area (riviera maya) and went down to ascension bay for a day of backcountry fishing. i would've gotten my first grand slam if it werent for a tarpon tearing off the front treble early in the day. we targeted permit and tarpon but the area is world renowned for its bonefishing. i'd highly recommend doing a day trip down there. it was easily the most beautiful saltwater fishing setting id ever experienced. feel free to pm me if you want anymore info.

any word on where on kentucky lake the trip will take place? somewhere closer to nashville might not be a bad idea for those flying in. just a thought

correct me if im wrong but believe the spro frog was made by design to take is some water in order to increase casting distance...ive never had the frog really sink due to the extra weight..... i love it because i fish slop with heavy gear and without the extra weight itd be a waste of my time.

I suppose everyone has their own opinions and experiences....look at the price of Gulp over regular powerbait products (gulp significantly higher) and its sustainability for few years now. this tells us quite a bit.

Frankly im quite shocked with the Gulp bashing....yes it smells disgusting, fair enough. The extra bites you get with it are undeniable though ....in my opinion. Heavily pressured fish? Lethargic fish? Muddy water fish? Undeniable.

floating it is all i could come up with too....perhaps i should delay gratification and wait till saturday....they'll still be in the harbors my usual better safe than sorry behavior gets trumped by my fishing "addiction" at times...

I jusr realized the roller on my hull is gone...mustve came off during a launch. I am a first time boat owner and am wondering if i'm ok to take the boat out one time before i replace the roller.....theres a hot bite here i want to jump on before the weekend.
