  1. old school poes
  2. it only looks to be around 6 - 7 to me and possibly 8 but thats wayyyyy pushing it, WAY pushing it. It does suck that he ate it but hey not all people think like us so......the only thing I think is truely outragous about it is that he ate the fish, and still tried to make it a world record, cmon the fish was gone!
  3. A sudden drop in air temp may or may not move the fish from their original places...but it may very well make them tougher to catch. If it was me I would fish the same very slow and patient, maybe take out a worm and go flipping around in your favorite cove and see where that gets you. No matter what you do tho it may be a tough day out on the water, good luck =)
  4. Wow thats one ugly fish. Kinda look's like a Pacu from the pic a few post down but I'm pretty sure it's not....what did you catch him on?
  5. Eagle Claw....no thank's. And I'll believe a chrome that doesn't chip off when I see it....well maybe not even then
  6. I caught a Grub...like a 3 inch Chartruese Grub that was suspended, on a rattletrap. First of all how many grub's are just floating 5 feet deep around in lakes? And then what are the chances that when my lure hit it...the hook's actually sunk in?
  7. I used to just use plain old Bill Lewis trap's and either replace the hook's on them or spend all day sharpening them. But lately Ive gotten where the only ones I consider buying are the Rattling Rapala's. The hook's come insanely sharp already, they hook everything, fish or no fish....I also buy Strike King's Diamond Shad every now and then. What about you guy's? What brand's do you like? Oh and while we are on the subject of Rattletrap's, how come its so hard to find ones with some purple on it!
  8. Bit dingy is my favorite type. Nothing wrong with clear water, but theres some TWRA lakes around here that have just gotten insanly clear, like having 20/20 vision 15 feet underwater with no polarized glasses on *cough Glenn Springs i have you*. I don't like fishing it any better, but it feels like I have the best luck in very muddy water....but only because a rattletrap is my go to bait and when its muddy and your throwing a red rattletrap, oh my gawd it work's nice.
  9. ahhhh jeez let me think here...not sure on the models of the rod's because most have warn off, but its a typicall assortment of St. Croix, Shimano, Daiwa, All Star and whatever other good rod's I might find on clearance somewhere. But the lures most permanently attached to them are as follow's. Football Jig Carolina Rig 10 inch lizard Texas Rig Speed Craw Bittsy Jig on a spinning rod Spinnerbait Horny Toad Floating Tube Jerk worm type bait Crankbait Rattletrap I THINK thats all, changes a little from season to season.
  10. ^^ exactly. You shouldn't really feel bad for a fish when the only reason you caught him is because he was trying to kill another fish or critter. I guess if you foul hooked the bass...or netted or used some aggravation attempt to get him, then I can see how you can feel differently.
  11. Yeh you don't need a super nice Depth Finder for this, but you do need to be fairly good at using the one you have and good at knowing what your looking at. That being said, I have an eagle 320 which only runs around $180, and I haven't taken the time to figure that out yet...but my father has the same depth finder and claims he can. *shrug*
  12. I'm sure it all depends on the particular fish on how long it takes him to feed again. We used to have a creek that ran behind my old house and it had a decent population of bream and small bass. One day I was wondering how many of the same fish I catch over and over again so I took a small holepuncher with me and punched a little whole in the tail's of the bream I caught that day (mean I know). It wasn't until about 15 were caught before I started catching the same bream again. Maybe this is all situational, being that it's a small narrow creek and I am sure theres alot of pressure from other fish to grab the first thing they see....or maybe it's not. But what I can tell you for sure is that fish have no problem eating again right after being caught. I think what may prolong the period is the stress they are put under after being hooked. Are they drug around in a livewell for 6 hours? Did you hang him from a scale and take pictures for a period of time? Or did you just hook the fish and toss him back...all of these are factor's im sure. And yes, the holes in the mouth and even a torn mouth grow back, how many fish have you caught that had holes in his mouth?
  13. As always, you should let the fish tell you the answer to this. But if it was me personally, If the water is very very clear I wouldn't use the bead...but most of the time for the lakes I fish, i'm using a bead.
