  1. I saw the lake made, loved it for the first 2 or 3 year's, and now I can't stand it, so maybe you can change my mind. I just never care for the crystal clear water.
  2. Hope you don't mind if I add ya to my buddy list, maybe we can get together and go hit up the water sometime, I'm only about 30 minutes from Glenn Springs.
  3. awesome, thats good to hear because im going there in about 12 hour's, its the only lake i feel comfortable fishing with as windy as it will be tommorow...that and thats not just one big mudhole right now.
  4. Okay next time Steven Segal is in the BPS someone CALL ME IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!! He used to have a house here in town but sold it, so I am not too sure how often he is in anymore, well that and the fact that I practically live there and have never seen him but if I ever do, I think I will just walk up to him and throw a punch, see if he can catch it or not!
  5. k......I am going with the people saying not to use it, and for the sole reason that artificial bait works just fine, why kill a natural pest control to catch a fish when you could just use plastic? I am not a tree hugger, I dont believe that we should all worship snakes, and I do use crickets SOMETIMES when fishin for bream, but if artificial bait is working just fine, why would I use anything else?
  6. I used to fish them all when I was like 16 out of my old jon boat. Althou I have forgotten the name to most of them now I do remember they look alot better than they actually are. I have caught bass from most all of them, all but one were real small. The one nice one I did catch was pushing 5, don't ask me how it got in there. Atleast 6 or 7 year's ago they were no more than gar invested stagnant pools of water.
  7. I usually run mine around 3-4 feet, depending on condition's I may go deeper with a slower retrieve or burn faster with a more shallow retrieve...heck I have even been known to jig one strait up and down real deep. They go as deep as you let them sink. Also keep in mind, the longer cast you make, the deeper its going to go.
  8. Gerald Swindle & Boyd Duckett, both seem like great guy's.
  9. Lake Graham. But maybe Gibson County, I know one that was almost 12 pounds was caught out of it last year and put back. Beech lake is a great lake, but I don't think a record will come out of it.
  10. another suggestion, offer him your smaller fish that arent bedding, then he gets his limit with expendable fish and leaves the good ones in there. but seriously, if its a pay to fish, you have zero right to say anything, and likely will just make him and the owners very mad.
  11. If you ever carry 400 pound's, make sure a couple of those pounds are a good pail! Like announced before, 2 people can ride in it but it's going to be pretty low in the water, don't move around without letting your partner know and all that good stuff. I used to fish out of a tiny 10 foot jon boat with my buddy, I stood up but it was ignorant.
  12. He fishes for trout with another rod so he knows how to catch other fish. He pays $6 for parking and $4 for permit each and every time he fishes there. $10 can buy you fish dinner! Regardless, If I see him catch a big fish with eggs i will say something. If the place is charging a fee for fishing they can afford to put fish back in. Leave the old guy alone there is nothing worse than someone trying to tell you how to do what you do for fun. My granddad always fished for food. That is why I fail to see anything wrong with it. x2, if it's a pay lake, then they are going to keep it stocked, or people will stop paying.
  13. okay....I don't really see much of a problem with just a big deck, other than maybe some rough rides. But are you talking about a big casting deck? Like the kind where you stand up 4 or so feet above the normal boat deck? Because that would just be annoying for me...First of all it would be in my line of sight when I was cruising down the lake, I couldn't reach my trolling motor, and I can't imagine what angle your rod would be at while fishing. Seems like a pain to me.
  14. How small is the place? Unless your talking tiny...I don't really think one guy abiding the law can really put a major dent on population, im sure theres gunna be alot who disagree but hey I am stubborn. And who knows, maybe that guy is out there doing that because he can't afford other food....If thats not the case then he will likely tire of eating bass over and over and over again. Maybe teach him how to catfish, or catch some bream or crappie. Talk crap about how much better some other lake is, there are alot of ways to avoid confrintation, especially when you don't really have a right to say something
  15. If it's in decent shape still, has a trolling motor, maybe a depth finder or two then it seems like an okay deal at 3000, maybe a little bit steep but if you don't want to spend more time looking then go for it, I wouldn't call it overpriced. As far as safety, as long as you know how to operate it then it will be fine for Kentucky Lake, but just KEEP THIS IN MIND. A 85hp will move that baby pretty quick (I am assuming it's alluminum), 16 foot is not a big boat, be CAREFUL...you don't have to go full speed. The best advice I can tell you is to learn how to read the waves those gigantic boat's throw out that like to cruise down the river, some you need to go head first into and some you need to turn 45 degrees and just slowly roll over, experience is a must. Respect the river or it will eat you alive. If you already own a boat, or are familiar with it all...excuse me dumbying things for ya =)
  16. go with a bass cat. Okay I just had to prove mr. carps point. But really here's the reason why I love my bass cat...well one of them. Around here they are pretty rare but still well known, I like people being able to identify my boat from a distance and maybe remember it till the next time they see me. I dont know im just weird like that.
  17. No contest for me really, Minn Kota wins hand's down. In the cheaper model's you can just tell the frame of the MG's are built like crap. I had a 68lb MG when I bought my boat and it was the biggest turd in the world, loud, rails where like half an inch thick, and got stuck in 24 volt high. So I put an old Johnson OMC on her and it works about 600 times better. I also will ALWAYS prefer cable over electronic, I like being in total control the second I need it.
  18. dang right sissy have you seen gas prices lately? Takes somewhere between 1 bagillion and 1.3 bagillion to fill er up.
  19. If your talking about that resturaunt that sits right beside the lake then its pretty good, sitting so close to the lake really does it for me...ah memories (has an ex in guntersville, going to go cry now j/k!) Hope you guy's have a great time, just a tinnie bit far for me.
  20. Chances are you will have to pay taxes, make sure you get a clean bill of sale, insurance, registration and life jackets are all needed before thinking about going fishing. You may also want a depth finder or two, maybe a couple new seat's. New straps, maybe an onboard charger, gawd all sort's of stuff....once you get a boat you are so happy and feel like everything is working out then you find yourself just constantly spending more money on it, even tho it's perfectly fishable as it is.
  21. Take some sleeping pills to get myself asleep before 1am. Wake up at 5am. Make coffee. Get dressed. Eat breakfast. Pack cooler. Grab some snacks for a long day on the lake. Buy a spare pack of cig's on the way to pick the boat up from my parents house. Uncover Boat. Load tackle. Open gate and begin backing truck up to boat. Truck breaks down 4 feet from boat. I cuss for awhile. I call a tow Truck. I cry because I didn't get to go fishing. So, I hope everybody elses outing went better than mine!
  22. I fished on the backside for a few good minutes, but those people like to get out there and drag crawfish all day which I just don't get into. I never anchor, always fish artificial's...I just dont feel right doing anything else. I have my spot's up and down the river tho that produce huge numbers all day long that gets passed up by 98% of white bass anglers.
  23. Yay more Memphians! If your a boat owner that enjoys alot of variety like myself then prepare yourself to buy at-least 2 licences. West TN provides some very nice TWRA lakes which are idle only, Pickwick and Kentucky lake are 2ish hours away, Reelfoot isn't that far either. About an hour south in MS you will find a number of oxbow lakes like Tunica Cutoff which can provide some EXCELLENT crappie, Bream or Bass fishing depending on water level's. You also have some pretty big reseviors like Sardis or Enid which can provide very excellent crappie and Bass fishing year round. If you are a bank fisherman, there are plenty of small lakes around town to keep you occupied. Let me know when you get here I can show you around some. Ps. If your moving to memphis you probably want to invest in a good bullet proof jacket.
  24. I have the whole 2 transducer, 1 unit thing too. Easy as heck to do (with eagles anyways). Unit is on the front of the boat. It's as easy as just unplugging one and plugging the other one in, but ive gotten so lazy i just use the back one now.
  25. Go fishing Tommorow (sunday) the snow has all melted and looking to be a decent day. I have been to the river the past 3 weekends catching white bass from river heights down to coffee landing, have caught a few random smallmouth on grub's but none of any size, and I fished a suspending hard jerkbait for a couple hours with no luck either on the channel side of diamond island.
