I'm in Love with Black Foam...
Nice! How do you like the Superlites? I've been wondering about those too. Don't hear much about them.

Quantum Energy PTI-A Spinning Reel
Very nice reel! I'm not a Quantum fan but I'm impressed! Very smooth, nice solid reel! If it wasn't so heavy, I'd get one.

The backlash from hell
Amateur. : ;D They always happen at the worst time too!

Bass Pro Rods
I bought a JM signature series rod...took it out a couple of times and said "I don't like it!" With all the quality components on it, you would assume it would be a better rod. Sensitivity was mediocre, I didn't like the power hump either, too much cork for my taste. I took it back and got a refund. I think if you've never owned a St. Croix or Loomis, BPS rods are pretty good...but if you've ever owned a St. Croix or Loomis, you can't/won't go back. Just my .02

Scratches on Reel
I hate getting scratches on my reels but no matter what I do I always end up with scratches on them. I try to keep the scratches to a minimum but hell...... Use and Abuse! I worry less about my equipment and enjoy the fishing part more.

Powell Rods = new lower prices

Anyone still use trilene XL?
I agree! I like XL, still use XL.

Can you Shorten a Rod handle?
I used a hacksaw to cut an inch off my handle. Just be careful and go slow. I left the cork on and just cut through the cork and blank. The rod is more tip heavy than before but it's not a big deal. But the shorter handle is so much more comfortable! You can search through the Tacklemaking forum on here for more ideas and tips. Good luck!

Little Baggies for Organizing Terminal Tackle?
Those little baggies are the greatest thing! Keeps my hooks from rusting and a real space saver. I also like to write the size of the hook or whatever on the bag, makes searching for a particular size alot easier.

Walk The Dog Baits
I usually walk the dog over shallow weed flats with no pauses. Just a slow cadence for a wider side to side motion. I've never done well when I put a pause in the action, just my .02 cent.

Left hand versus right had
Use which ever is most comfortable for you. You're the one using it. I'm right handed, tried out a left handed bc, it wasn't bad. Switched over to right hand bc...a little awkward at first but once I got use to it, it feels so much better! That's just me. It took me a little while to train my left arm to twitch baits though. My buddies sure do have jokes about me and my left arm. ;D

Spinning Reel Relube Question
I recently tore down a Sienna reel and would like to know how much grease do I put on the gears...Should I put a generous amount or just a light coat? What about the ball bearing on the pinion shaft..Should that get grease or just oiled??

Mann's 1-Minus Elite Series
I've done real well with river smallmouths on the Mann's. Great wake bait!

1st Marbling attempt
That's a real nice job there!

super spot repaint
Very nice paint job!! I really like the chartreuse head.

Sanding Preference
If you don't want to sand. You can always just soak the lure in Simple Green or Purple Power, some kind of automotive degreaser. I've also seen someone mention Krud Kutter?...the paint will wipe right off and not affect the plastic. It usually takes two over night soakings to get it completely clean...the wait sucks but you get one heck of a blank to work with!

Recent Stuff
Nice job!!!!! Please tell us more about how did the reel?!?! That's a nice color combo!!

couple BPS rods
What did you do with the old winding check? Did you use a winding check in front of the reel seat threads on the casting rods?
-
my first batch of crankbaits
Not bad, not bad at all. I really like that bluegill color and the black and red. Nice job!

couple BPS rods
Pretty nice! I especially like the designs on the rear handle. How'd you take the fore grip off?

Shimano Symetre or ???????????
I have a 2500 Symetre and a 2500 Daiwa Regal-xi....Even the though the Daiwa costs less, I prefer the Daiwa's. All Daiwas have the wide spool. Line seems to flow off the wider spool of the Daiwa a little bit better than the Symetre, IMO. Symetre is still a very nice reel, don't get me wrong, it's a very smooth reel for sure!! If it had a wider spool it would be perfect.
