  1. Any boat is dangerous reguardless of the size or horsepower. You have to respect the dangers involved whether it is your fault or someone else's. You can be the safest person on the water and still be put into a life threatening senario due to some other's actions. Be prepared and do not let anyone shame you for wearing life saving equipment.
  2. You gave us no info to give any advice. Where are they located if they are on a boat? Is it gelcoat? Are they around the transom or on the hull, or top deck?
  3. Congratulations on the purchase. Sounds like you are going to be ok with everything. The idle problem could be several things including, fuel, floats, and/or needing to change the fuel filter. Glad you took everyone's advice and ran the boat. Now you know and their should be no second guessing. Enjoy it and lucky you that the boat was four years newer than the owner thought. Enjoy and good fishing.
  4. Before attempting to pull a backlash out apply pressure with your thumb to the spool and it will allow many backlashes to untangle themselves. you must apply the thumb pressure before you attempt to pull it out or it will allow the line to cross over itself and renders the procedure useless. Try it next time and I think you will be suprised at how mant times it will pull right out. that being said sometimes the only thing to cure it is a good cutting instrument and a respool. Keep fresh line on your reel and it will solve a lot of problems.
  5. Read the article in the Houston paper this morning. Horrible story, prayers sent to all involved.
  6. Personally, I feel as if we have allready been shoved. Enough is enough.
  7. He's around. I spent 40 minutes on the phone with him Saturday. We are planning a September trip to Fork. Our club is fishing a two day tournament, and unless we change it due to gas prices I have invited him to meet me and fish with our club. He has accepted.
  8. Sorry to hear of your issues. Strange that the rpms would cause the metal in a cylinder no longer than you let it run. You just never know about outboards though. Tempermental beast they are. Good luck.
  9. Just be on the water when there is a recovery operation or rescue attempt being conducted and you will change your mind. Hellicopters are extremely loud when they are hovering 40ft above you searching for survivors or bodies. I have helped in one recovery within the last 12 months. It will make you keep all survival gear well accessed and having you wearing lifejackets anytime the big motor is running.
  10. I have an 88 Starfire that we purchased seat from BPS last year. got a good price on them.
  11. I forgot one thing. When unloading by yourself, trim the motor up out of the water. It will keep you from having to wade out to your boat.
  12. 3.00-3.25. congratulations, nice fish.
  13. I feel for you. I have the inside of my left index finger still numb after 6 years from an episode similar to that. Good luck with it.
  14. Man, do I hear your pain!!! I just took a new job position at UPS, less money, no overtime,a few less hours, all in the same month that I traded my 4cyl jetta in for a 4runner,lol. So now, I'm out of work by 11a every day but can only swing the gas to get to the lake 3-4 days/week (weekends included) so instead of fishing 6-7 days like I'm available to, I am fishing 3-5 days. Now that I write it out, maybe I shouldn't complain but sitting at home when you are available to be at the lake still sucks, even if you'll be there tomorrow. No feeling sorry for you here. I wish I could fish half that much.
  15. I have an old ski rope that I snap to the boat. Tie it off on my truck, back it in, pull up a little, step out on the ramp and pull the boat to the side. Park truck and trailer and get after it.
  16. Outstanding day. Congratulations!
  17. Great Pics and fish.Falcon is a great lake.
  18. Glad ya'll survived. Lighnening is nothing to mess with.
  19. Welcome Enjoy
  20. Insurance agent selling packaged employee benefits to Corporations. I do own my own agency.
  21. Trim up the motor and give a shower before first flight Cut the points off several worm or CR and push them back in the plastic while they are at breakfast Hide the kill switch lanyard
  22. The existing cable did not work on my Skeeter. When you buy, get it all at one time. It will be a nightmare trying to piece it together. Make sure you get the correct length for the cable. Do not try to make it work if the length is off. Buy the complete kit and you should have no problems.
  23. Sounds to me as if you have allready made the decision to buy the boat. Good luck and I hope everything is ok.
