  1. Last Wednesday I sent Catt a PM asking for a little info about Toledo Bend as I had not been on the lake in five months. He sent me a response that among other things said to fish the outside grassline in 12-15 ft of water. I was culling at 8:15am and won the tournament and had second place big bass. Thank you Catt. 14 keepers and 21 non keepers Watermelon/Red Senkos and same color Zoom Trick worms
  2. Well since no one offered any info and due to some info from Catt I went out and won the tournament anyway. Thanks Catt
  3. #100 Sammy in the American Shad. Hands down for me.
  4. I voted for the rage Tail but I fish them both.
  5. You can fish a c-rig on any rod that has enough backbone to set the hook. I use a 7' Falcon Carolina Lizzard Dragger H and a 7' Falcon East Texas Grass Rake M/H, both are at least 10 years old.
  6. It still floors me that all of these children(That is what they are) are out there asking for and expecting these companies to sign them up and support their fishing trips. They can not even enter into any legal agreement. As far as fishing tournaments they can not enter unless they fish with a parent. I for one would never, ever had allowed one of my children to fish with another adult. Tournaments are dangerous and if something were to happen, the attornies would be stacked up to file(If the association or family had anything to get). Do yourselves a favor and enjoy your childhood years, stay in school, and enjoy the freedom of your childhood.
  7. Fish the cypress trees closer to the deeper water and always fish the trees out away from the rest. Works for me. Deeper water is relative. It may be a change of 1-2' that will hold the fish.
  8. Since ponds warm earlier the bass will usually be ahead of the lakes. Sounds like the weather has backed them off. Don't think the lakes in Pa. will have moved to post spawn this early unless the weather has been really warm. Be aware that bass (Usually the larger ones) will move in and spawn a lot earlier and in water that is cooler than most people realize. The majic temperature of 62 degrees is a misnomer. I have seen bass here in the south move in, spawn, and be gone in water mid to upper 50s many times. Actually the water they bed in(1-2ft) is several degrees warmer than the reading you are getting due to fact that they are in the 1-2 ft and you tend to be out 15-20' from the shore where the water is cooler. So if you are reading 55-58 in a cove the water against the bank can and will be several degrees warmer. JMO

  10. Congratulations to the both of you.
  11. You bet they are. I have installed a 997 and fished it this weekend for the first time and it was amazing. I have not learned near what it will do, but sofar it is a wonder.
  12. My wife hands them over when she...I better stop there.
  13. Run up river and start your search closer to the dam. Fish when they are pulling water and target any cuts and laydowns in the water.
  14. Now I know why you did not take my call this morning. Call me when you get it fixed at 281 224-8853. It did not ring, just went straight to V/M
  15. 12ga. with a load of #6s should do just fine.
  16. Sounds to me that you have an equipment problem. Check the bail for imperfections as well as your rod guides. I think you will find the problem in that area.
  17. I don't use it on hard baits. JMO
  18. Plastics are the way to go. Fish them deeper than you would other times of the year. I tend to concetrate in the 15-30' range, unless I am fishing a grass bed. Then it is the outside edge that I work and that will depend on the water clarity that allows for the grass to grow. Last weekend on Toledo Bend the outside grass line was from 12-15' in the mid lake area.
  19. Lowrance recommends that the puck be at least three feet from the unit.
  20. Depends on what stage of the spawn she is in. From the sound of your post she is in the process of being locked on the bed. I would try again and keep trying until you no longer get the bite. May be several more days. She will hang around to guard the fry a while so don't give up.
  21. Spinnerbaits with a colorado or indiana blade to move more water. Jigs with a rattle Larger worms with a rattle. Slow down and soak the jigs and worms. Fish tight to cover. Look for the clearest water available.
  22. How deep are you fishing. It may be as simple as adjusting your depth.
  23. I've been trying for five days to post in my avatar and it won't work. Not a chance I could do it now. And yes I have tried all the instructions.
  24. Jig
  25. I've been fishing the slider for almost 30 years. Great baits. First bought them when I was living in Birmingham directly from Charlie himself.
