  1. The spot will have two tooth spots on each side in the upper part of the mouth and one behind the tounge. I always thought of them as shell crackers. JMO
  2. Years ago on Sam Rayburn I was flipping a lizard under the willows, a fish hit and I broke him off on the hookset. Sat in the boat reriged, fliped back in the willow and caught the fish first cast. Still had the hook and the lizard in the corner of his mouth. Must be a cousin to yours.
  3. I have been a subscriber since they started and have never had an issue. Sounds to me like it is someone in the post office, a neighbor, or the postman that may like your issues.
  4. Welcome, and i'm not sure any of us qualify as experienced posters. Just some of us have a little more time. Enjoy the forum
  5. Great read as always Catt. I probably spend more time map studying than I do fishing. It is not uncommon for me to pick an area, copy it up to 20 times, and retrace the contour lines(Each time I do this I seem to locate something I have overlooked). I am now in the process of using Navionics Explorer and several other search engines to preplan a route before I arrive at the lake. Also calls to agencies that can give me the dam activities as well as lake levels, water color, etc. Of course this can be wiped out overnight due to weather issues, but it still gives me a great head start.
  6. I love fishing a jig in the grass, but I also like to pitch and flip a large crawworm on a 1/2-1.0 oz florida screw weight at times and it will make a difference. I like the Gene Larew in the larger sizes. Colors in Camo, Greens w/orange pinchers, junebug, watermellon red, pumpkin, brown and cinnimon. Anyone else into the crawworm? I fish it mostly in the hydrilla.
  7. Man my partner and I really wacked them yesterday. Here are his GPS cordinates.
  8. Grass on offshore defined structure such as drains, points, creeks, humps, brush piles, and river channels.
  9. Welcome and good luck. Don't be bashful asking questions if you need help.
  10. Since I started back after my health problems I do not think the wind has been under 30mph on any trip. It sucks!
  11. Moroso makes tie ins to keep the frame from twisting. If you work and set the front end up correctly both wheels should come up relatively even. I ran a 67 Nova in IHRA and NHRA for many years and set seven NHRA and IHRA records. Never had a handling problen and this car was quicker than 10.60. The 63-67 have the same frame under them. The frame is tied/welded. Has a 8pt cage. Fully adjustable traction bars. Drag shocks and springs. It "only" runs 10:60's becauseof it's ill tempered handling. We had to retard the cam timing 4 degrees and a timed throttle stop just to calm it down to do that. Once it sets the tire back on the ground, it spins. Has the front syspension had the correct toe in and campher set after it was reworked? Does the car have a four link under it. Is the body shifting and closing the gap between the rt. fender and door? If not a four link have you checked the load on the rear traction bars? There is no way that car should be lifting one tire that high. It's all in the frame and it can be straightened out. Has someone put tubs in this car and relocated the spring hangers? Has the frame been boxed to strengthin it? If not that will be the first thing you need to do to lock it up. Make sure it is in alignment.
  12. I have a straight 24V Minnkota on my boat that does not carry a 50 amp fuse. You better check your wiring and a manuel or your asking for trouble. If the boat originally had a 12V TM on it your probably going to have a problem with wire size. JMO. Better safe than sorry. No one on this site knows the inner wiring or workings of your boat. Check it out to be sure. You gave us no info on the boat so everyone is just shooting info that may not apply.
  13. When it dies you need to make adjustments. I have caught plenty of bass in the grass with a jig on cloudy days.
  14. Get the real deal. You will be happier in the long run.
  15. Costas or Bolle in your choice. Have both and they are great glasses.
  16. I don't reccommend removing the trim tab. It also is a sacrificial anode that needs to be on the motor. I have a flat trim tab due to an oversize prop on my boat. The blades were hitting it so I changed it out. If you have hydralic steering you can run a motor with a flat trim tab. Also, if the boat is set up properly you can run without it. Just replace it with a flat one so it will continue to protect any metal that makes contact with the water.
  17. If it has wood in it be sure to check the floor for weak spots and especially the transom. Walk around the floor feeling for weak spots, check around the drains in the floor and under the console. As for the transom, lift up on the motor to see if it gives any at all. Look inside the rear deck around any bolt or drain hole for dark spots(This could be rot). Get under the boat to check for cracks. Unfortunatully they can crack and be hidden by the trailer runners. Pull the cowling and look for paint that has flaked off around the heads. This is a sign of over heationg. Lake test the boat. Run a compression test on the motor and ask for all service records and who performed. If possible and I highly reccommend that you pay a marine mechanic to go with you to check out the boat. It is money well spent. Good luck.
  18. I have actually had people ease in and tie to the top I was fishing. I hit the TM and eased over next to his boat. We were touching. Did not get mad just started talking to him about anything I could think of. His partner finally realized what was going on and talked the idiot into leaving. Needless to say I did not catch any other fish out of that top that day. I was guiding a party when it happened and they both said they had never seen anything like that. Neither have I before or since.
  19. Replace the steering cable(s) and you will be able to steer it with a finger. Cost is a little above 100.00 for a 12-14ft cable. They are easy to change out.
  20. I've tried to watch him...It's just unwatchable in my opinion.
  21. In Texas it is illegal for a jetskier to harass anyone fishing. They turn them in a lot. Not sure what happens after a complaint is maid, but I know they followup on them.
  22. I do not use them; however, I have no problems with anyone using them. I run either a Lazer or Tempest prop, 23 pitch.
