  1. sorry, I'll shut up. I'm, getting ready for Rayburn this weekend.
  2. They've been there for the last 20 years. Water depth, color, wind, and grass all dictate just how they set up. Plenty of deeper water to keep them close. No one that I know of that has fished them hard. Only thing that will kill you is a hard south or south east wind. You just cannot stay on it with the four and five foot rollers comming in from that direction. Give me a day or two and i will post up some cordinates and tell you how to approach them.
  3. Your goal should be to promote the one you have to the best of your ability. The others, if any come calling, will fall in line at the right time.
  4. If I can't see it and put my hands on it I'm probably not going to buy it. 90% of my tackle purchases are impulse decisions.
  5. Well if you want to be like Ike just yell and scream at it until it parts like the red sea. Seriously, just punch it through. bump it up and down a time or two and repeat in another spot. Be sure to drop it into any small opening you come across.
  6. Honesty, i have never used them. To be perfectly honest i was at BPS in Pearland Texas last thursday and was going to try some but I could not find it on the shelf. i have always used Bang (Craw) and have had good luck with it. It just hit me to try your product but could not find it. i went ahead and purchased the Bang. SOOO I cannot commit either way as to whether it is any better than the rest. FYI, I am not looking for a handout. if you can tell me anywhere in the houston area to get it I will try it the next time. Jack
  7. MY Pb came out of that lake back in 1977. 12.4 lbs.
  8. I AM AGAINST A NATIONAL LICENSE. WE ALL KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THAT MONEY.
  9. 1. you will need the release signed by your parent 2. If they accept your entry fee and all required paperwork boater has no choice 3. As a parent i would not allow my 14 yr old to just haul a-- with someone i did not know Bass tournaments(fishing in general) are very dangerous and i have seen the carnage that can happen. you have no business in a high powered boat with a stranger reguardless of who it is. Seventy MPH boats do not know how to say "I'm Sorry".The tournaments are carried out reguardles of weather and water conditions. Stick with your family fishing club or the smaller opens(With family member) until you are old enough to make a responsible, possibly life changing decision. JMO. Fishing is a blood sport. It comes to that at times.
  10. It's no secret where I'm fishing Catt. It gets lots of pressure just not fished the correct way. I have won a lot of money up in that area. It is two hard clay/sand grassy points that have a number of drains running through the grass that constantly get over looked. They don't vary in depth of more that 2-3' but that's all they need to draw the fish in. Not one drain runs out to the deeper water, they just make a run out away from the grass and turn to the smaller creek. everyone comes in and concentrates on the main point when, in fact, the fish actually move up from the creek almost on the back side of the point.. It's a funny situation that throws a lot of people off. took me a long time to figure it out, but when i did it opened up an avenue that the better fish were using that seldom gets covered. It's like the fish are funneling up onto both points from the back side. the creek that runs between the points is not really a creek, but more of a wet weather drain. It plays out several hundred yards behind the points and the average depth is no more than 9-10'. It does; however, run all the way out to carrice creek. Fyi, the outside grassline up there is playing out in the 15-16' depth if that helps anyone. I did not get bit out in the deeper grass Saturday night.
  11. Well Saturday morning at 9:30am my wife came to me and told me to go ahead and fish our club tournament Saturday night. i threw my tackle together, hauled her to my mother's home in Nacogdoches and headed to the lake. Put in at the public ramp on 21 at 6:50pm. tournament was from 7:00pm until 9:00am sunday morning. Headed out to my favorite area off Carrice Creek and first cast was just after 7:00. Started out with Watermellon/red baby brushhog and a couple of medium depth Lucky craft crankbaits in different shades of shad colors. Not one touch until just after the sun set. surface temps at 7:00 were just above 90. At midnight the temps out off the two main lake points were still 89.6. I alternated between the two grass covered points until my TM gave out(Kicked a wire loose out of the wiring harness) at 2:20am. No keepers were caught after 1:18am. I was off the water at 2:45 am. Here is how it went and i stayed with a junebug/red baby brushhog: 8:41 3.97 8:53 2.12 9:36 5.03 10:09 1.15 10:21 2.63 11:30 3.91 11:37 3.01 11:56 0.15 12:05 1.46 12:27 2.78 12:38 3.23 12:46 3.56 1:11 2.57 1:18 2.13 They completely shut down at that time and I never had another bump. All the fish were caught out in 3-6' of water in the scattered grass a good cast away from the matted grass. The wind was blowing out of the west/north west and all my fish were caught out off the two points with deeper water just a cast behind the boat. Best bite was 11:30 until 1:30am. Top five went 19.70 Spent Sunday afternoon at the cemetery with the wife. Kinda puts a damper to the end of the weekend.
  12. I sell the stuff. Keep on paying those premiums, momma needs a new dress. LOL
  13. Texas Texoma All Water License (Allows you to fish the oklahoma side)
  14. Only you can answer that question. Go pick up a few and put them in your hand. buy what you want, spool it up and hit the water. You can't go wrong with any of the above. I own all but the zillion and they are all quality reels.
  15. X2, It also breaks up the solid color.
  16. Very nice. run it like you stole it.
  17. Never put a leader on braid in my life. If you are fishing grass i can not believe that a fish can glance at a lure and distinguish whether that is line or a grass stem extended from the front of the lure. An additional knot and a strip of mono filament line are just creating extra weak points. If I'm worried about line visibility I'll just go ahead and spool on flouro or mono.
  18. Wait until you get in the boat with me. I've mowed down just about anything imaginable including the ramp, rocks, trees, and a bouy or two. Plenty of scratches and dings. You have built in protection with a rubber hub or a flow-torque setup to help protect the lower unit.
  19. Well you can pull the key assembly and basically hot wire it. Better yet, go get a starter button, hook it up and then you will know. Question? Have you tried to turn the motor overby hand? you can pull the plugs and it should be fairly easly to turn it.
  20. 12-15' is shallow to a fish that has spent the day out in 30-35. If I had to start instead of just looking i would start out off the end in the deeper water. when the sun got up over the tree line I would then move in and try to pick off a few sitting under the pier. If that didn't produce i would move right back out deeper and look for rock piles and brushpiles out off the break.
  21. Run a compression check before you spend a lot of money chasing parts. that should help you make a decision.
  22. I spent over 5,000.00 on my 82 Mercury 150 last august. Went completely through it, everything you could replace was replaced with new parts. bored the block .015. Replaced the wiring harness as well as every electrical component inside and out. lower unit was completely rebuilt also. Total was 5,384.12. Lots cheaper than a new one. got 21 hours on it now and it runs like a champ. could not be happier.
  23. Check the entire pier as well as the shore line each way. You might find a creek that swings up close to the bank and it could be the path that they take to the point and pier. It's not always the end of the point that draws them there. you just need to do a little looking. Good luck
