  1. well i found a 09 Bass Cat Pantera IV today with 18 hours on it. Has 200 Opti, two 898 birds, hydralic jack plate and a power pole. Blue and silver metal flake. I know i said i want to stick with a 20 footer or up, but this boat (19' 1") intriques me. May set a time to run it. Personally They got some work to do on the pricing, but I have just begun my search. Still have not been in the seat of the Skeeter with the SHO. It's been so long since i looked seriously at the later model boats I'm going to force myself to take my time. Absolutely will not buy until i have run the 4 stroke Yamaha. I was told today the first edition SHO motors had a vibration to them that you could absolutely feel through the seat. Have no idea if this is so, but going to find out. Anyone experienced this or can verify ?
  2. Well i just came in from Bowden Marine here in Houston. My head is spinning. So many options, boats, and I was not even aware that there was allready an updated design on the Yamaha 4 stroke. They had everything from brand new to a blemished boat from 2007 that the factory replaced. Says a lot for the way they handle their customers. I'm torn between the Pro XS and the 4 stroke. I can feel the ulcers starting to form.
  3. I can't wait. My favorite D-II school, Stephen F. Austin, gets the pleasure of getting it's head kicked in at Kyle Field against Texas A & M this weekend. $300,000 appearence fee will help though. Roll Tide! Rammer Jammer-Yeller Hammer Sweet Home Alabama
  4. Ask a cop the next time you happen to be in a store about it. Most i know are very knowledgable and might help you. That's what i did when I started carrying w/o a CHL. He even offered to do an onsite inspection of my vehicle right there in the parking lot. I told him where the weapon was and he went through my truck just as he would on a traffic stop. Explained what i was doing wrong as far as storing the weapon and the ammo and what I should say if and when I were to get stopped. Make sure you are allowed to carry in the vehicle w/o a CHL in your state before asking one though.
  5. "Tiki" sticks, by Wave Worm, but they are getting hard to find for me.
  6. I fish braid main and 12-15# Big Game for my leader. Usually 3/4 or 1.0 oz. weight depending on the depth I want to cover and how fast i want to fish it. I start with a 18-24" leader and work from there as needed. I try to get by with the shortest leader possible. Most bites the fish will just move with it. Good luck
  7. They are all powerful. Tackle tearing maniacs. For some strange reason i have never caught one under about four pounds. Most are 5-6. No idea where the smaller ones hide when they are younger.
  8. X2 Whatever it takes to allow it to break through the top layer. We even pitch the lures straight up to give the lure a little more punching power without having to upgrade the weight. Good luck
  9. "Soaking" has become a popular word for allowing the lure to sit for long periods before moving. Just what it implies. Let it sit until you just can't stand it anymore and wait some more. Good luck
  10. Thanks guys, this is exactly the information I am looking for. Ranger251, sent you a PM requesting the phone number in Alexandria about the Ranger. Keep the info comming.
  11. Thanks Wayne. Checked out a couple over there but they had been rode hard and put up wet. Most of those guys put tons of hours on them and I am just a little leary of those.
  12. I am now shopping for a year old boat. Would like to hear from as many different owners on the following. Ranger Skeeter Phoenix Pro Gator Stratos Triton It will be at least a 20' model with at least a 200 on it. Please be honest without the brand loyalty hype. Would like the pros and cons and especially, If you have had it a while would you buy the same boat again. Interested in possibly going the 4 stroke route. Never been in a boat with one, but have heard different opinions as to performance, upkeep, maintenance, and durability. If anyone happens to have one for sale that is top of the line, low hours, please let me know. Distance is no problem. Sorry, at this time I am not interested in a prior team boat or one that has been on one of the national circuits. Must be a dual console, prefer loaded with all electronics (SI a +) and a plus would be equiped with a power pole or two. Cash in hand. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Jack
  13. Do you run a Progator? Great boats. I'm fishing on Rayburn Thur-Sat out of a 20 footer that my buddy owns up on the lake. Fixing to get into a new one and am looking at that and one of the Phoenix models. Not sure what I'm going to buy, but going to fish out of 4-5 different brands before walking off that cliff again. Welcome to the forum!
  14. Being paired with a negative, complaining person. If you don't watch out he can knock you off your game plan.
  15. If the fish are jumping everywhere I doubt it is bass. Just not their style unless they are schooling and even then they very seldom jump out of the water. They are not spawning either. May be something else up shallow bedding but would be bream if anything at all. Get back to basics. Fish it early or late. You probably know what to throw during these times. Good luck.
  16. Junebug Junebug/Red Watermelon Watermelon/Red Pumpkin Black/blue Watermelon/Candy Depending on the conditions you can go anywhere in the country and get bit with one of these colors
  17. If it checks out it is a deal.
  18. If it is legit with good titles, I'll go out on a limb and take it. will drive up this week and do the test run. Let me know.
  19. Pauses with the calmer water. Choppy water: Fast and furious with fewer pauses.
  20. Clear water; Tandem willowleaf Off color; Small colorado up front and willow to follow Muddy: Larger single colorado or dual colorado
  21. Be very careful building anything that will add any weight to a boat of this size. You are changing the weight ratio and just asking for trouble. Lay a piece of carpet if you want, but no more.
  22. The two most important guages on a boat: Tach Water Pressure I'm clueless why you would not watch a tach, especially when you are having issues.
