  1. I would be held back, or possibly put back in the 5th grade.
  2. Guys i did the best I could without just crawling up in the rig. Got some strange looks while leaning over into the boat and picking up individual lures for inspection. I guarantee the pros could see me but they never said a word from the stage or afterward. No security that I was aware of around the boats but I'm sure there was some. I did everything but crawl behind the steering wheel and not a word was said. I'll try to pull the rods out of the rod boxes next time, go through the plano boxes, and will report when I bail out of jail.
  3. I don't think they truly knew they were going to run into danger. I bet a lot of anglers here fish Falcon and they go into Mexico's side without much worry. I agree they need to broadcast this more in America, might warn people who really don't know exactly how bad it is down there. Been there quite a bit. Never any problem(Just luck i guess), but will stay out of Mexico until this gets over with. Still believe you can go and fish the Texas side, stay out of the upper reaches, and fish without a problem.
  4. Been throwing them for months. No need to stop now. Remember a fish that's been in 30-40 is shallow out on a 15-20' point. All fish follow the bait. Not all bait runs to the back of the pockets though.
  5. If you care to watch it go here: http://www.ksat.com/video/25267925/
  6. Most are not. I was at the tank looking at the 9.02 caught Saturday and Shaw Grisby walked up beside me and I asked him who caught it. He said he did and then went into detail how, where, and on what lure it was caught on. Lance Vick is another one that will talk all you want to. I bought a couple of his navigating chips last year that he sells and he gave me some pointers on the best use for them. They are all just everyday guys that have earned the positions they have.
  7. I also got to spend a moment talking with Van Dam, G-Man, John Crews, and Gary Klein. They were just walking through the crowd and would stop and talk to anyone. VanDam said he had a 22 hr. drive home. He left the area at 3:30pm. FYI, they do all of the driving. No one hauls the rigs for them. O H I O all you have to do is show up at a tournament and you can walk right up and talk. They all seem to have a moment or two for anyone.
  8. Sounds like you got a defective pour. Look at the head and see if it is sitting crooked on the hook. All my buzzbaits track true.
  9. Last Sept 21, 09. on fork put a 10.51 and a 8.19 in the boat on a black 1/2oz Lunker lure. Both were caught after lunch on a bright cloudless day.
  10. While they were up doing a seminar at the Texas Bass classic I strolled over to both boats just to see what they had lying around. Van Dams Nitro: 3/4oz Sexy Shad blade exactly like you purchase in the store. Stanley Titanuim Chartruse/white 1/2oz Wedge. Both were laying in the troling motor recess. G-Man's Triton: Tons of 3/16, 3/8, 1/2 ball head jigs most W/O skirts. All heads were painted brown. Every jighead that had a skirt was brown with three to ten strands of blue (Without exception). Jig heads w/o skirts were all loaded with brown/green or brown/with blue specs and all i saw were the net baby paca craws in different sizes. What surprised me the most were the size of the hooks built into the jig heads. They had to be home poured as i have never seen a hook that size on a jig head that small. He had a lot of the jig heads w/o a skirt loaded with the paca craws only. Tag line on all lures was florocarbon. looked to be 10-17lb. You can definately tell by both boats it was nearing the end of the year. Carpet and designs in the carpet was well worn and frayed. Both will need to go back to Nitro and Triton for a makeover before they go to the next owner.
  11. Yep, we've got them here along with a portion of any other gang you've ever heard of. When whole areas of the city are controlled by one or the other you have to be very careful where you drive and what color of clothing you wear. Houston is loaded with a little of all. Exactly why i never, ever go out without my little .40 cal. semi-auto friend.
  12. "I want a divorce." She was a good woman that I did wrong. I was lucky to get the one i have now. No one diserves to have another great woman after the way i did the first.
  13. It's making the rounds now. They interviewed the woman on the Houston morning show about an hour ago. Hopefully something can be done. I've got to get my fix and get back down there. Supposed to go in three weeks, but it ain't gonna happen unless things change. Concerned about staying completely on the Texas side at this time. Don't own enough firepower to feel safe.
  14. FYI: this is the border. The game wardens take care of the nets and other violations, and help out with anything that comes along. There are enough armed border patrol agents and gunboats down there to start a large war at a moments notice. All they need is the go ahead.
  15. No escape. If you over fill it you can/will blow the rear seals. If you pack your own bearings be sure you pack them correctly. You must force the grease down into the bearings. I do this by putting grease in the palm of one hand, grab the bearing with the other and slap the edge down into the grease until you see it start to exit the other side of the retainer. Make sure you rotate the bearing to get the grease packed completely around the bearing. You cannot just rub it on the outside of the bearing, on the face of the race, and expect it to do the job. It's referred to as packing the bearings. Good luck
  16. For all of you that have never been there the boundary is the bottom of the Rio Grande and it is extremely well marked. Tall towers run the length of the lake and there is no doubt which side of the international boundary you happen to be on. Up river it is a little different. Tons of thick timber run out from each side of the lake to the river channel. Not a chance anyone could not tell exactly where you are at any time. Unfortunate that this keeps happening. I feel for all the people down there. Something can/should be done about it, but it's up to the people in charge to make it happen. Fat chance of that.
  17. It was reported here: www.falconlaketackle.com under the fishing reports./ It has since been edited from the original post to wait for clairifaction.
  18. Update: Zapata sherrif has stated that the individual missing/killed has been under investigation for a while. They are now throwing the idea around that it may have been drug related. Either way the cartel has no business running into Texas waters firing off rounds at anyone.
  19. Cartel drug runners ambushed, an american couple jet skiing on the Mexican side near the old city of Guerrero late yesterday. The man was shot in the head. His wife returned and tried to put his body up on her ski while taking fire, but had to leave him. The attackers chased her a mile into American waters before turning back all the while firing at her. Authorities said they would probably not be able to retrieve the body as the traffickers would probably just cut the life jacket from him or take the body and dispose of it in Mexico. Article was in the houston paper this morning. To read it go to www.chron.com Prayers to the family.
  20. i run my livewells and all electronics all day and it never affects my battery. you must have a weak battery or something is causing a drain that keeps it at a lower state of charge. Have you noticed your electronics shuting down when you start the outboard? this can be a sign of a weak battery or a bad connection.
  21. I'll be up there next thur-sunday. Going to the PAA tournament this weekend on Lake conroe.
  22. Used it for engine assembly back in our drag racing days. Use it on all my reels, but have not run it in my outboard. Have heard it is ok to run it, just happy with the Stabil/Quickcleen mixture I am running.
  23. Drink it after soaking hands and feet.
  24. This scene sounds like you have OCD. I have two boats with trailers, two tow vehicles, a Polaris Ranger, golf cart, and two homes to take care of and I just cannot spend money like this without a compelling reason. I do not even have time to check everything I need to do. It bothers me too. OCD , well at least i take an active interest in my equipment. Sorry i don't have the money to just let it go until it craps out on me. Even if i did i still value the safety of me, my passengers, and the traveling public. Ever seen what a wheel running down the highway will do to oncoming traffic. Lack of attention gets people hurt. OCD my A**! Actually i bought and replaced the complete hubs.
