  1. Not at all. i think most that follow the sport do get involved in the marketing end of the business. It can be as much or more gut wrenching as being on the water needing just one more bite with 30 minutes to go.
  2. Might want to rethink this. There are many reasons millions have been sold.
  3. You failed to mention the creek. walk it and see if it makes a turn over into the pond. You could have a ditch(Creek) that you do not know about. If so, fish it.
  4. When hunting ditches or drains study the lay of exposed land. Most are just extensions of what you see above water.
  5. If your lakes are like ours here you can pick and choose from at least a dozen different tournaments every weekend of the year. you don't need a club.
  6. If you are handy with tools at all will be no problem. Get you a coat hanger(If needed), straighten it out, and get after it.
  7. Just run it across a set of scales and subtract the weight of the boat. Will make a big difference if it is a single or tandum axle trailer.
  8. They sure are. High 70 today, Monday a five day weather front due to hit. Lows in the teens and highs in the high 20s. Snow and freezing rain for three of the days predicted for the Houston area. Naturally, i have two tournaments set for January 15th and 16th. Sucks
  9. My skeeter hull weighs 1200 dry.
  10. I run the following: 798 SI Humminbird (Console) LMS520C Lowrance (Bow) LCX17M Lowrance (Console)
  11. If you purchase a unit with GPS...Know what is between you and the waypoint, and know how to read it. The first time i had one on my boat I ran through the top of an oak in the dark and then hit my waypoint at 60 mph. Ended up thirty or forty yards behind it in the weeds. Don't do like me, know what the marks are telling you. Good luck.
  12. GPS allows me to mark spots and run trails. Can't do that without it. I'll take the GPs any day, but i am fishing large bodies of water. If you are fishing smaller lakes it may not matter to you.
  13. It's a good unit for the budget minded angler. Yep, the GPS will work as soon as you hook it up. It will do a decent job if you just plug it in and run it on the factory settings. i had one on my boat for a long time. No problem with it being the monochrome instead of the color. Yep, color is nice, but remember we all fished years without it. You'll really enjoy the gps feature.
  14. Thanks for the report. I've got to get back over there soon. American Bass is out of Pirates Cove the first weekend of February.
  15. I guess you failed to watch last years Bassmaster's "Classic" Traps or any other lipless lure.
  16. Don't forget watermellon/red...there goes your well rounded plan.
  17. Ya'll got off light. Broke down and had the carpul tunnell fixed in both hands after... I had launched a Gloomis/Curado combo over the side and then had another fly out of my hand during a hookset. Lost them both.
  18. You guys make me sick. I'll get back down there shortly. Good luck and waiting on your report. FYI, the water temps yesterday were running 63-64 so i bet you will be doing some bed fishing or the rockpiles on the main lake and secondary points this weekend.
  19. You will be amazed. Charlie is known for putting clients on great big fish. Won't be surprised at all if you put a DD in the boat. Be sure to take a camera. Spawn will/should be going big time when you arrive. I'm sure Charlie told you, but 65# braid is the norm. Falcon Lake Tackle can/will help you with anything you need. Pics and a full report is required when you return. Yes, it's a big deal to us to. Enjoy, Jack P.S., you will be shocked at the size of the big water. You'll know what i'm talking about when he turns south out of Veleno Creek.
  20. Just who the hell are they trying to target? If it's the 12-15 age group if might fly. Boy, I bet that group spends a ton of money on the sponser's product. If this is any indication of the upcoming season of fishing shows I'm just going to pass.
  21. Yes, at Sam Rayburn Todd, you forgot the cordinates.
  22. I wear the BPS 100 MPH bibs but not the parka. I just feel it is a little stiff in the sleeves. I match it with the ProQualifier parka with inner liner. Not sure if it's just me or not, but it just feels better. Plenty of protection and all you need in this area. Just what i prefer. Most any of the name brand outfits are well built and will do a good job. Pick what you feel comfortable in.
  23. Going to spend a ton of time running areas that I overlook with my SI unit. In fact, headed out tuesday to take another look around with it before this weekend. there has got to be tons of overlooked hot areas that will show in areas i have driven by for years.
