OK, first of all the rod link you posted is to a "spinning rod" if my english translator is correct. If you have a spinning rod with a casting reel you have a problem. If you have in fact a "casting" rod then do the following. Adjust the tension on the small knob on the left side of the reel so that when you press the thumb bar to release the spool then your lure slowly falls to the floor without any thumb pressure on the spool. Then set the brakes on the right side of the reel to 5. IF you are casting into the wind set it to a higher number than 5. As you gain more thumb control lower the number. As ARV stated, line and lure weight make a difference also. You should have 8 to 10# mono for most applications on a light rod . Also start your casting practice with a small soft plastic rigged with a 3/8 oz bullet weight. This combination should give you 25 m to 50 m distance depending on your skill. 5-6-7 pounders are not that big a deal around here. I catch 20-25 over 5 lbs a year. I had 3 over 8 in an afternoon a few years ago. You should find a tournament trail that fishes the draw system and fish as a non boater for a year. You will learn a lot in a hurry if you pay attention.
