  1. Baby bass magnum fluke behind the tiny superfluke jr in pearl color...now the cats out of the bag ;D BTW don't ever try a double senko, trickworm, finesse worm rig they don't work either, especially not on a carolina rig.
  2. I didn't really like the huge plastic box on the belly. Consider however that I bought this when I was in my earlier teens and really didn't have a clue how to bass fish very well or especially a lure of this type. Wonder what I could do with it now? Like I said though I was kinda irked that mine quit working promptly after I bought it.
  3. Bill dance catches 6-7 lb dinks left and right on the dancin eel too. :
  4. Here ya go I found one on the net after looking extensively. This one is made by Johnson Lures? I googled that too and came up nada except this one picture.Looks the same and comes in the same package. I also found a Budweiser one on ebay. That WOULD be kinda cool to have I guess ;D It's got a plastic box for a belly with two metal contacts which when wet they complete the circuit and turn the lure on. I could be mistaken but I think laser lure works like that as well.
  5. Lol, I got mine about 15 yrs ago or so and it promptly went in the garbage especially after it quit craoaking after using it the second time.I just posted about it on the worst lure bought thread. Wish I could show you a pic man.
  6. Shallow submerged cover or weeds is ideal. Through lily pad lanes and along weed edges is also another good place to start.
  7. They are practically giving those things away.Tells ya something. : Me and my buddy tried the spray too and bedding fish seemed to be completely repulsed by it. Threw same baits in beds minutes later(brush hogs) without the spray and proceded to whack em. Also tells me something.
  8. Theres been a few over the years. One of the first when I was younger was a Burke talkin frog. It made a croaking sound when you got it wet. Anyone remember that one? : ;D Most recently and most shamefully was the culprit ultimate topwater shad. Pure gimmick.I started a thread on here a few months ago and was boasting about how awesome this thing looks and I can't wait to get it. I called culrpit lures and they sent me 3 of them before they even had them listed on their website.Ultimate $hi# is what it is. Takes on water horribly and had NO action whatsoever on the water. Will not walk the dog at all and just looks like a childs bath time toy. Well theres your review for anyone else who was interested in those things. ....By the way I've got a few for sale...Send me a PM if interested
  9. Agree, and thats why I love this bait.(even before all the hype) if I see another rattle trap thread I think I'm gonna puke
  10. Oh yeah forgot about those, duh. I've seen them at sports authority and discount tackle. I really don't think that hookups would be a problem on it.That bait is not very thick and has a rounder body unlike a fluke which has flat sides but very thick from top to bottom. A 3/0 or 4/0 wide gap hook should be fine. I know most anglers use the minnows of that style for saltwater with a jig head, thats kind of what it is designed for but t-rigged for bass should be fine too. 3.99 for 100 you can't go wrong as long as the color suits you, your not taking too much of a risk there.
  11. Hmm..didn't know they had a split tail shad. I have used the whip tail fluke they got and its pretty good, especially on a carolina rig. My favorite from them is the 6 inch twitch which is a version of a slug-go only better. You MAY be able to take an x-acto knife and split the belly of the one your asking about a little? :-?
  12. Thanks for your opinion,I will take that under advisement Ryan. I always thought these looked kind of hokey or gimmicky and I have never used one nor anyone else I fish with. I wonder what would happen if you played with blade size and or color?
  13. I'll drink to that. I normally start with a "twitch-twitch-pause" retrieve, but there's really no telling which retrieve is going to work best. What's more, sometimes the winning retrieve will only last about 20 minutes :D Roger Amen brother ;D Use a lot of slack in the line and a very sharp downward or down/side twitch with the wrist to make it walk. You can also chug it,that is just kind of pop/scoot it forward making the body rock and use pauses.Speed and cadence are key just like any topwater and you gotta play with it.Fun bait to fish but won't always draw very many strikes but when they are on it you better be throwing it. One of my favorite things too do is skip it under overhanging trees and brush, docks, pontoon boats, and put it in impossible spots.Sometimes you may get an instant reaction bite. For heavier vegetation you may want to try the larger sizes since it will cause more diturbance. I would also truly reccomend the bronzeye poppers. That bait is a true winner and will really shine during the postspawn coming up.
  14. Got em at dicks ,but as you know everything is hit or miss there and that store picked clean >
  15. I think they do give you a 5/0 long shank hook.Although I haven't used these snakes I've seen them and I would imagine that a 7/0 Owner offset worm hook would be a pretty good fit.
  16. I call seconds in case you can't figure out how to dispose of it "properly"
  17. Exactly the point I was making but in a more sarcastic way. I know someone very close to me that is just like that.Got money to burn but don't want to learn how to use the stuff. I've gotten a whole lot of nice stuff that was "junk". ;D
  18. Probably a kin ton of em since this bait won on the classic it MUST be some new kind of "magic bait" or technique. The new idiot bait. :
  19. Don't need 5 brands. All I need is redeye shads. If I choose others It would be excaliburs. After using these 2 I pretty much retired my myriad of Bill Lewis traps. They don't even compare IMO. I still haven't tried the Spro aruku though. :-/
  20. I like the Yum Houdini shad the best. The tail shimmies on the fall, unlike the zoom.I like white overall the best.Only bad part is I cannot get it in all the colors I can with the zoom super fluke or a magnum size. In the zoom I use a lot of green pumkin, junebug, white ice. Like the other guy stated I like a 4/0 gammy superline for a little extra weight or an Owner wide gap plus 4/0 which is a heavy wire hook. You can get by with a 3/0 but I always seem to get better hookup with a 4/0. I have found that if you add too much weight to these that it hinders the natural erratic action. Heres another way to add a small amount of weight and still keep good action. Take a heavy gauge nail or even better a large lead nail weight and insert it straight through the body in the middle of the bait AS PICTURED to allow a horizontal fall and then clip off both ends.It also makes a nifty shad dot on the side. With a lead weight you can ususally get 2 uses out of one weight. You can also add 2 or more of the smaller lead weights the same way. I also sometimes use lead solder on the hook shank(3rd picture). That way I can place the weight where I want.
  21. Those fish are a major pain in the rear. It's one of natures ways of teasing us I think. One thing you can do is mark that location and IF the bass there are staging and getting ready to build a nest, looking for male suiters,or using it for a feeding ground, you can go back after dark or very early in the morning before it's light out. Then be very stealthy and use senkos, flukes, lightly weighted creatures on a t-rig and fish very slow. This will help prevent you from initially spooking them. Good luck and welcome
  22. Watch em,they bite!
  23. By post summer do you mean "fall", Roger? I know we don't really have a fall but if so then that is the very best time for me for topwaters when that water first starts to cool down and before we get any massive fronts rolling through every 2 days. I would have to say post spawn is second for me since the majority of the fish seem to be hungry little wolfpack dink males coming off of beds. In fall I get much better size as it seems the females start to get real fat around that time.
  24. Wendys value menu and jr bacon burgers=worthless. The kin thing is like a single thin slice of salami. The value menu is the worst of anyone now and used to be the best. Their premium sandwiches are still great IMO just a little too expensive when I can pay about the same and get a real burger in a sit down joint.
  25. Just fish it you won't be dissapointed. Try it slow and twitch it a little in between pauses.Make sure you get the #5 and #7 as each gives you a different depth range. Believe it or not the tiny #4 will catch crappie.
