  1. Rage tail hog for the win. 8-)
  2. These are a nice shape with an extra wide gap hook which holds bulkier baits.Great for that kind of presentation. http://www.setthehook.ca/falcon_lures_1.html I can't post the link from where I actually got mine though.... :
  3. Great video D. Thanks for posting. ;D
  4. And don't forget that ANY/ALL of the rage baits are killer on it as well....
  5. All excellent advice so far. Might I add that using a 3/4 oz. swimming jig with a large grub or paca trailer could produce as well, you just gotta crash and yank it through. I know what kind of pads your talking about and yes they are a beast especially when the wind is up and it makes your line tangle even worse in the stems.
  6. This is something I've just recently delved into. So far I've got x-rap deeps and I'm certainly not dissapointed. 8-)
  7. Supposed to use a 4 foot leader? Maybe in real clear water. In dirtier water use a shorter leader. You want the bait to be closer to the commotion that the sinker and beads is causing. For the most part 18 to 24 inches will suffice in almost any situation. You also have to experiment with leader length sometimes. The activity level of the fish might dictate that. A longer leader causes the bait to move around slower and dulls the overall action, a shorter leader causes the bait to move and swivel back and forth more rapidly.More active feeding fish you may want a faster retrieve and a shorter leader, and fish that need to be finessed you want that slow movement that stays in the strike zone a long time. Also if you drop off of a hump, ledge or drop off a longer leader will allow the bait to hang in space and freefall a lot slower before it settles on bottom. Just about any plastic bait will work on a c-rig but believe it or not there are some that just really seem work better on a longer or shorter leader. if your in clear water or even a pool throw a few out there on different lengths once and you'll a major difference in overall action on some baits. Just like anything else sometimes the fish just want it a certain way. If you having trouble casting a longer leader the only tips I can give you are these.let the sinker hang down 12- 18 inches or more and focus on throwing the sinker. Pay no attention the the hanging bait, unless your gonna bury it in your partners skull Cast only the sinker and use a nice smooth lob cast, don't snap back or try to load your rod.
  8. Sure thing. It's a great way to lay it on deep structure.I hook it through the nose if rigged this way.
  9. Same here. I've had some ziplocs just completely fall apart when I picked them up. Didn't do any damage to the baits though. Also for some reason I've never had it happen yet with bags labeled as "feezer" bags. :-?
  10. . Great hooks if you like losing baits.
  11. Owner 5/0 riggin hook is what I've used. A 5/0 Gammy EWG will work too. Those Excalibur EWG that they reccomend look pretty good, they have a nice round gap, but I've never bought any yet.
  12. Then keep a towel or rag around to wipe with. They don't have scales but they have a slime coat that is quite difficult to remove from your hands.Once it dries it is like a second skin. One trick that I do if fishing from the bank is grab a small handful of dirt or sand from the shore and rub it in your hands and just wash off in the water. It removes it the best.
  13. bingo was his name'o Person with correct answer to post next picture?
  14. Only one I got so far is original pearl shad? Think thats what its called, it is white with an orange belly. Around here the water is all tanic or stained pea green and any white or shad variation kills em....usually. I've also got the larger size which is around 4 inches. Been happy with it so far and can't wait to use it again. I just looked at the colors again on bass pro.I don't think you could go wrong with ANY of the available schemes.
  15. I don't like them because they are huge. A steel weight of a certain value is almost twice the size of lead and a tungsten is almost twice as small as lead.
  16. If you used the larger sized one, then yeah, It is wayyy too thick and will take at least a 7/0 monster hook and even that isn't quite enough. It isn't the length that gets me,thats fine. Normally I would prefer the larger sized baits but the smaller one is much better IMO.
  17. I was actually going to post a mini review of it myself. Its a very cool bait. The action is superb. I caught 3 on it the first time I used it under less than ideal conditions. I love the way it sits there and vibrates after you twitch it. It puts off a lot of flash and I believe the fish can probably see it from quite a distance. I don't think any fans of these type of baits would be dissapointed. 8-)
  18. Apparently everyone is stumped so far including me.I'll play, but have no clue here. Its not a LC,Megabass,Rico,Rebel,or Excalibur. Nice looking bait though.
  19. If I put any fish on a stringer then we're usually doomed to have the pattern we were using fail immediately. Yes this has happened more than once. : :-/
  20. Get the smaller one. The bigger one is obscenely thick, extremely heavy, and has very little action and doesn't walk very well at all .The smaller ones seem to work great, I just haven't had a chance to use it at a prime place. One thing though, don't expect a zara spook,it won't walk quite like one but it is good on mats and for flinging/skipping way back into and under brush. I also take a glass worm rattle and insert it in the rear end. (suppository? ;D)
  21. I saw them on clearance at dicks and sports authority and lmao'd. They practically have to give them away and the shelves are still loaded with them. I never bought any for the ridiculous price they were charging but if you could get some for 1.00 a pack then I'd say go for it, I guess.
  22. So true, and peer pressure is a mother....
  23. Yes basically the same...in a way. Always play with the retrieve though. These baits just flat out catch fish. That said though, I have had more success with the pointers using a short sweeping style and the x-raps using a wild, erratic, snappy, and fairly fast retrieve. Aurora black,ms american, sexy chart, table rock shad, and ghost minnow will pretty much cover everything. Oops thats 5.
