I have an older model mk its 17 lb thrust and all I did was take the screw out of the top control houseing (where it attaches to the poll) and turn it around and put the screw back in. I was also looking at the new mk's and they look to be the same way. I dont think it would hurt to try it. I am going to get me one of the new mk and I was looking to do the same thing. (save about 100 bucks).

Has anyone done some modificationd to a 14 ft v bottom such as decking and adding a livewell. I am just wondering if I have added to much weight. I live an hour and a half to my fishing lake and I dont want to get down there and wath it sink. Total I have a sheet in a 3/4 of 5/8 plywood little over 1/4 sheet of 1 1/8 ply woodand 55 ltr livewell what do yall think, then I got me a buddy and motor and supplies.

yeah I am about finished with my baby and I dont see getting rid of her for a very long time.

Its amazing how things change after that summer out of school inless you go off to college then that I guess somewhat like high school atleast you can party leaglly. But anyway you will figure out who your real friends are after school, all my firends would have made married life dificult because there all still single and partying it up and for some reason they think you should still be able to.

With out upsetting anyone I d like to ask a question. I am new to this site and I like it, it is a great site to ask question and to assosiate with lots of people with the same addiction as myself "fishing". For example in one of the topics one of the younger guys had a question about high school and in my reply I said "the one person you really need to worry about being best friends with is the big man upstairs" is that agaist the rules or are you talking about just out right descussion of what you beleave as far as religion. I understand this isnt a church surmine and if thats what you want then there are places online for that. Not trying to offend anybody just curiouse.

I believe there is only on eman that one you need to worry about keepen as a best friend and thats the big man upstairs. I have been graduated for 5 years and time does fly and I had my friends in high school and I had my bestfriend but it seems like once you get out get married have kids life comes at you to fast to worry about best friends and stuff not telling you to blow off your best friend but I think once you have a family they become your best friend. I do know one thing for sure all that high school popularity does you know good once your in the real world. I guess it would be nice to have that one friend you could always rely on to be there when the boat is loaded.

I am with hpbb I would offer him 1500 see what he says. But it looks to be a good boat if its sight unseen I would ask to see it run in a water drum or something now days theres are alot of crewl people that dont care who they put the screws to. Dont mean to be negetive but thats the way it is now days.

Mines a 14 ft v bottom and I name it THE HOOKER when I get done with all the modifications I am going to have the decales made and have them put down the side.

I live in Midland and if I could get a good deal on a motor then I might not have a problem driveing or even paying a little shipping.

Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a 20 hp motor. New ones are outrageous. I have been looking on ebay but nearly all of them are either pick up only(I live in texas and there in PI or NY) or the shiping cost more then the motor its self.

Man I am 23 and in the good old working world and I love to fish just as much as the next guy on here but if I had it to do all over agian I wouldnt do anything to hender my helpful ride threw college let your parents help you as much as possible and maybe this summer after classes are out you can get a job to save for a boat and mabye help alittle with tuition keep your nose in the books and make dew with what you got for now just think when you get out of college you can get a good job and buy one of the nitros everyone and myselfs day dreaming about. I blew off college for other things I thought I needed and know I got a wife i one boy and another one the way and I work a average of about 70 to 80 hours a week and attend college. I wish I would have held off on things that werent nearlly as important as I thought they were. But your the only one that can dicide whats more important. Just my little peace of mind.

Inless I was tournament fishing for a liveing or just had millions of dollars in the old bank account I just couldnt see paying 50 g's for a bass boat. Dont getting wrong they are some awsome boats and I would love to have one but if I got one of those my wife would probably make me live in it.

how do yall get those bigger pics on here if I down size mine to fit you will never see what I am trying to show you

The boat was built in 67 and its only rated for 10 hp but I know it will handle alot more than that. I dont under stand how 5 different companies can build the same boat and rate them for 5 different rateings you know what I mean.

Yeah thats the one thing that i was worried about. I found a 20 hp that i think i am going to go with thanks for everyones input thanks dave

I have a v bottom that I am working on right now and I run a 7.5 hp on it now and it runs good but with the wieght I am adding I am going to half to up the horse power and I found a 40 hp that is about the size of the 25 hp in the picture with the boy and I can get it at the right price but I dont want to buy it if its to big the boat is about a 4 ft bottom and like I siad before 14 ft v bottom

What do you think is the biggest motor you can put on a jon boat. You think a 40 H.P is to much

maybe yall can tell me some good ideas right now I am looking to deck the front part and the back and if at all possibal remove the middle seat and add two 6 ft storage compartments on each side one for fishing rod storage and the other for my or and life vest and different things you tend to accumulate in a fishing boat and on the fornt I want to mont a bow mont foot ran trolling motor. Somewhere on the front I am going to install a live well. What do yall think
