  1. Thats a great bass man
  2. Thats great man! I appriciate every thing your doing for us
  3. This time of year your cant go wrong with little 1/8 ounce spinner baits. Those are really all that i've been fishing lately. I also do good either swmming or jigging a white grub on a jig head. Texas rigged craw fish imitations are killer drifted weighted or weightless through holes. Ive even had luck drop shotting craws in deeper holes when the water is low and clear. Just experiment and have fun with trying different techniques and baits. Good luck!
  4. thanks a lot guys! Im still pumped about it!
  5. awsome job! Geat fish
  6. Sweet! great looking pond
  7. The weather up heres been really crappy but I still managed to get about a 7 hr trip in through the rain showers and howling winds. I got my buddy into fishing so we took a trip to Cabelas last night where he picked up a real nice rod and real I picked out for him. Were fishing a farm pond first thing in the morning. We fished about 45 minutes when I hear "SNAP" followed by "PLUNK" I look up and see my buddy standing there looking really ticked and he had no rod in his hands. He manged to break the rod already and insted of trying to return it for the 100 bucks he spent on it he just tossed it in the pond. :-? So after 15 minutes of dragging a rattle trap along the bottom I snagged it and gave him 10 bucks for it lol. Not a bad deal when you figure the reel alone was almost 50. The kid has more money than brains. Anyway I dropped him off and went to another pond. I started out fishing these new soft swim bait made by Stike King that I got a Cabelas. There freaking sweet! This little guy inhaled it! Then I picked up a few average pond bass on 1/8 oz spinnerbaits and little buzz baits. Then I decided to tie on a moss boss, because I forgot my buzz frogs, which I've only used once before. I was working it over a nice patch of weed and picked up a few pound-and-a-halfers and this nice bass that went 4lb 3oz. She wasnt real long but had a fat gut and you could tell she was making a nest by her tail. This lure will deffinetly be seing a lot more action. I fished there a little more and another pond only catching a few more. Today was a lot of fun
  8. About 5 time a week. From 3:30 to dark after school. Sun up to sun down on most weekends. 2 hours if I have work after school.
  9. In real thick stuff ill put presure on the fish for a few second after im wrapped. If I can tell im not getting any where ill give the fish total slack. Then give it about 15-30 seconds. Alot of time that fish will swim right back out of the cover, if it doesnt find away to get the hook out.
  10. Yours deffinetly looks to be in the 6-7 pound range. Im not good at gessing tho. You gotta get a scale man.
  11. Thats awsome man any river of creek smallie is worth bragging about
  12. I think the state records 11-3. 3 pounds off from the record, not too shabby in my book. Thanks for all the complements guys!
  13. So i headed out today after school at about 3:00 and only had about a hour and 45 minutes to fish before work. I decided to hit an old farm pond that i've only fish once this year wuth no luck. But I know this pond holds some real pigs and this is the time to catch 'em. I tie on a trusty white 1/8 oz stanley spinner bait and start flipping it back into freshy flooded bushes and parallel to the shore lines. I made a long parallel cast down a shore line with some chunk rock. My bait was only about 5 yard from the shore and I was burning it quick just under the surface. I just bounced it through a little fallen tree branch when the water erupted! The fight was on! She gave me two good head shakes and a cart wheel but it didnt matter because the spinner bait and trailer hook were both securly in the corner of her jaw! When i got her to shore and grabbed hold of her massive head my knees were shaking and I just kept sayin " Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God..." I grabbed my scale as quick as I could. 8 pounds 1 1/4 oz! I've never even heard of a bass that big around here. I snapped a few quick pictures before giving her a big kiss and letting her go. She was deffinetly about to lay here eggs any day and her tail was all scraped up where you could tell she was fanning her bed.
  14. Only 2 that I know died. One was hooked through the roof of the mouth with a Snag Proof frog. He just got real stiff when i was reeling him in and didn't fight at all. When I went to let him go he went straight belly up. After trying to revive him with no luck I gave him a quick twap on the head with the handle of my knife to put him out of his missery. Felt bad but better than if i just let him suffer. :'( Other than that if i deep hook a fish I dont even bother about trying to get it out, I just cut it.

I had the same problem earlier in the year. I switched to a heavier action spinning rod first of all, but only because my medium-light got shut in the truck door...oops :-[. First of all go with at least a 3/0 EWG hook. I prefere 4/0 Gamies. Second dont set right away. I know its hard when they blow up on it but let them have it for a second, they wont spit it right away. Then I real up my slack after about a two count the slam 'em. I still only catch about 4 out of every 6 bass that hit but its better than before. Im not a pro at fishing them by any means but i hope this helps.
  16. Sweet fish and an awsome looking spot!
  17. very nice! great job
  18. So after all the swim bait monsters i've been seeing on here i've been throwing them alot without any luck. I went out to one of my favorite ponds the other day and caught about 5 decent bass on senko's off beds when I spot a big boy about 7 yards out. I tossed my senko on him and he didn't even look. So then I decided to toss a Storm Wildeye blue gill at him. He was sitting in a small hole in some submeged vegitation. I cranked it to the hole and stopped it, letting it sink down to his bed. Next thing I know the weeds explode and my drag starts running. Fish on! I fought him in and and snapped a few pics before letting him go. First good swim bait fish and a pb for the year! He had a huge head but was skinny. If his body was proportional to his head i bet he would have gone at least 6 pounds.
  19. Great idea im in
  20. I mainly fish creeks for smallies and I just switched from Sufix Elite 6 pound mono to Berkly Vanish 8 pound floro. Sufix is a great line but i like the floro a lot better. It give you great sensativety making it good for everything from jerk bait to plastics. It also seems like I get better hook sets.
  21. awsome man!
  22. Were not rying to make any one feel bad. Thats a great fish regardless of its weight, I would love to catch that thing any day. We were just trying to point out that it is obviously not as big as the title reads.
  23. Start in the morning with a top water to get a feel for the bass. I would go with a Rapala Skitter Walk, Booyah pond magic buzz bait, and (if theres any cover) a Snag Proof frog. If thats not hot or shuts down you can either go power or subtle. If the bass were crushing the top water then go with something faster such as a Booyah pond magic spinnerbait, Ratt-l-Trap, crank bait, or another agressive, reactionary, bait. If they weren't so hot on the top water go slower and more subltle. In a golf course pond you cant go wrong with a Senko, Zoom Finesse worm or Trick worm, Swimming Senko, or a lizard. If the fish are pressured go with rigs other than Texas. Wacky rig the senko and finesse worms. Carolina or split shot rigg the lizard. If the fish are really shut down you may even have to drop shot to catch 'em. Remember this is just a rough guidline that i follow. Your gonna have to change your game plan as the day goes on. Just remember to listlen to what the fish have to say!
