  1. No seriously...Anyone? Anyone? Buehler? Buehler? Frye? Frye? ;D
  2. Try a good sized Rapala Shad Rap or Original, colored to match the forage (I don't know what a Roach is?). Perch colored has always been good for me on browns, or a big roostertail with a gold blade and teh green, ellow and red body.
  3. The study doesn't show anything of the sort, the only thing it shows is that there was an increase in smaller non-native species. It also begins with maintianing that more time is needed for the rebound of the native species.
  4. Can you site the mandatory kill reference? I've seen where biologists are going to try to remove pike, channel cats and smallmouth from the Green in Utah (good luck with that), but it's really not that great of a fishery for them for the most part anyway, and there's numerous other lakes and rivers in that area that are much better fisheries. It seems like they're trying to save the endangered species, not trample on fisherpeople. I'm sure people don;t care since you can't really fish for them, but biodoversity is important to everything up the food chain.
  5. You looking more for bass than trout?
  6. The Pigeon and Little pigeon rivers around there have some great smallmouth fishing, even around and through town. I used to like to fish around construction areas where it'd been dug out as well as around the bridges. The Pigeon coming out of Douglas lake ( I think) has great striper, wiper and white bass fishing below it, take some small white spinners like a Roostertail and/or some white curlytail grubs and you'll get into some. For trout, the Raven Fork in G-burg and the Little Pigeon further up near Pigeon Forge have some good trout. Just about any stream in the Park has smll bows and further up, brookies. If you can tell me where your cbin is, I might be able to give you a little more specific spots.
  7. Actual cheap birthday party ballon, about the size of a tennis ball, the water grenade ones work great. Tie a slip knot in your line, blow up the ballon and tie it, then use the slip know to hold the balloon's knot. The balloon bursts when a fish puts tension on the line and you're on your way. I tend to hook through the nostrils since the stripe like to take the bait head first, but through the back works as well. Don't underestimate the power of a Zara Spook or similar stick bait, they are awesome below dams!
  8. Net some 6 in shad around the dam, put that on an appropriate circle hook (4/0ish), and fish it about 6ft below a baseball size baloon. Let it drift with the current, occasionally letting it get into the eddies. Make sure you have a good drag, or a light boat. Take a rod rigged with a pop-r or Zara spook in case they really start busting the top.
  9. Inline mepps as small as you can go with a silver blade and squirrel tail work well. Also, roostertails with the brown spotted body, gold blade and brown skirt in the 1/32 oz size catch brookies pretty durn well too. Small curly tail grub and tube jigs are good if you fell like soft plastics.
  10. Small spinner baits are always great. I like to bump the bottom with a jig or craw to look for underwater features. If you don't know what's in the pond, sometimes just a 2" curly tail grub on a 1/32 oz jighead and a light rod will get you some action and give you a feel for what's in there.
  11. Actually I think the info tends to be better on coloradofisherman.com, but ice'll probably disagree . Both are pretty good informative websites. And Chatfield is great for smallies, a little hit or miss for walleyes. Quincy Res in Aurora is a better largemouth lake but is no scent, no salt, artificial lures only.
  12. We're honeymooning in Quebec City in late June/early July and were wondering if anyone knows any smallmouth/pike guides up there. We're having a little trouble fininding one for a day or two. Thanks in advance for any advice. Greg
  13. I'm honeymooning in Quebec City and we're looking to do aot of fishing while we're there (yep, she's a keeper!). Does anyone know any guides for smallies and/or pike within an hour or so of Quebec City? We're going the last week of June/first week of July. Also, does anyone know how to go about getting fishing licenses there? Thanks in advance
  14. My financee and i fished there on the last day of the season last year (we just moved here from CO), lookng for pke. The bank access is extremely limited, but it's a beautitful lake. We're planning on trying it out a little later this spring with a canoe. You can buy the permit at the lake. I think it was $6/person. You can also rent boats and motors there for a pretty reasonable rate.
  15. I have a sit in and liked it very much in CO, but haven't used it here (NOVA) yet. The sit-in will keep you and your stuff drier usually, but past that it's probably a wash. Both of those are going to be really small to fish out of though, mine's a 14 fter. We also got a 14 ft Mad River canoe from Dicks and that thing is SWEET to fish out of, might be another direction you could go.
  16. Short-time lurker, first time poster- Nah , It works from the bank too, but it does help to have deep water close to the bank. It takes some time to learn how to do it effectively (I'm still working on it).
