  1. Fins 40G is the best I’ve used, but again it’s where you’re comfortable price point-wise.
  2. Well if we’re not feeding the Knife Monkey and you want something easier to hone/sharpen with, I suggest a Tumbler sharpener/hone. Can I get it sharper with some longer work? Yes. But I’m cutting potatoes not shaving a baby, so a good sharp edge is good enough.
  3. I have a block of Wustoff knives that I have had for a quarter century. There’s not a lot I can’t do with the 8” chef’s knife or a 6” santoku. There are other knives in the block including a boning knife but those two are what I do 90% of the work with from breaking down big pieces of meat to making a salad. You can get them in various grades at Target or any kitchen store. All that said, when I worked in a commercial kitchen we used Zwilling and Victorinox and those are great values with very comfortable non-slip handles.
  4. Was there another blip this morning or was that operator error on my part?
  5. Wood is good - boats have been built of it for hundreds of years!
  6. I had faith in “The Stache” - he’s fixed many issues over the years…
  7. This guy and my wife. They don’t go with me a ton but those are the best days. He just got his drivers license so it’ll be even more sporadic now, but he gives me a few great trips every year.
  8. It’s a polygraph, not a lie detector. When used appropriately, they are very accurate and scientifically supportable. They register your body’s physiological stress response in various manners. They are not magic and they do not detect lies. They give the examiner data that can be compared and interpreted based on your physiological response. Anything more or less than that is just conjecture and misinformation.
  9. I will double his offer but you have to leave your waypoints…
  10. whispering…. Dooooooo itttt….
  11. I have two 3:16 Workhorse Glides that I bought at retail. I also have a few of their wake baits. They are phenomenal baits and phenomenally expensive. They are well-tuned and works as advertised.
  12. If it’s a 2-stroke (which it appears to be), run the proper mix through it and BOOM cylinders are lubricated. Any lube prior to turning it over is going to be a waste once you turn it over, if not before. If you’re going to cycle it yourself without starting some Mystery Oil in the cylinders is great. But if it ain’t broke, don’t break it.
  13. The LiFePO4 boat battery is not the same as your tool batteries and/or most (not all) the batteries that had fire issues. Now that said, you should 100% ( and also legally in most states) have a fire extinguisher onboard.
  14. Medium action spinning rod and 2500/3000 Shimano. Spend as little or as much as you want. 6 lb Suffix ProMix and off you you go.
  15. I will actually be switching my starting battery to lithium when this one goes. I already use lithium for my 55lb Terrova. Cost is almost a wash at this point and performance is far and away in lithium’s favor. When have trouble with balance (14 foot Lowe) based on who comes with me or what I take with me, I have a couple sand bags that I put in/move around, mostly in the bow.
  16. It’s the earth’s rotation today - left the gravity on ‘High.’ Springing forward may enhance the affect for a few days but I’m sure you will power through…
  17. Piling on - I have never seen keeping a jerkbait level matter to the fish. If it gets too un-level it will affect the action but I don’t know that I’ve ever had that problem much and when I did it was tail-down because of a leak in a plastic one.

We used to shoot MP5s as a long gun option and boy were those things a great little weapons system. So accurate and easy to shoot.
  19. FINS 40G or whatever of their lines suits your need is what I have been using for several years. It is fantastic.
  20. But i mean…It. Looks. Sweeeeeeeeet.
  21. VolFan replied to gim's topic in Everything Else
I would agree with Kev - are you doing it to be neighborly or do you want to make some extra money? And how long are you committed to it? I grew up in the south and we would just do things like that for our neighbors for free; my wife is from Chicago and thinks I’m crazy.
  22. Who won?
  23. For 150 acre lakes only by yourself I would do the kayak. For anything bigger or with anyone I would do the boat. I have a 14 ft Lowe v-hull with a 20 hp Mercury in it that I got for $4500. I built a deck on it but then took it out. It’s more comfortable and easier to organize without it. My family (wife/teenage son) go with me maybe 10% of the time, and I cherish those times like no other, but mostly it’s just me. The takedown/setup of the boat actually takes less time than my yak, and I can get that boat into 98% of what I can get my kayak into. And if you’re going to trailer a kayak, the boat trailer I have doesn’t take up any more space than a kayak trailer I previously had.
  24. For you swimbait/big wake guys - Cl8 Baits is having a 40% off sale on their Possum and Baby Possum. The Baby Possum is the best rat wake bait of all time. Mind you, even the Baby is not small, and the Possum is like throwing a house cat. But holy moly do they catch fish. And Clayton the owner is fantastic to deal with, absolutely fantastic.
  25. Did the break happen while line was unspooling mid-outgoing-cast (did your line get tight in the air mid cast?)? Or was it on the initial load and release of the cast? The former is something catching during the cast, the latter is immediate failure of the knot.
