  1. Small spinner baits are always great. I like to bump the bottom with a jig or craw to look for underwater features. If you don't know what's in the pond, sometimes just a 2" curly tail grub on a 1/32 oz jighead and a light rod will get you some action and give you a feel for what's in there.
  2. Actually I think the info tends to be better on coloradofisherman.com, but ice'll probably disagree . Both are pretty good informative websites. And Chatfield is great for smallies, a little hit or miss for walleyes. Quincy Res in Aurora is a better largemouth lake but is no scent, no salt, artificial lures only.
  3. We're honeymooning in Quebec City in late June/early July and were wondering if anyone knows any smallmouth/pike guides up there. We're having a little trouble fininding one for a day or two. Thanks in advance for any advice. Greg
  4. I'm honeymooning in Quebec City and we're looking to do aot of fishing while we're there (yep, she's a keeper!). Does anyone know any guides for smallies and/or pike within an hour or so of Quebec City? We're going the last week of June/first week of July. Also, does anyone know how to go about getting fishing licenses there? Thanks in advance
  5. My financee and i fished there on the last day of the season last year (we just moved here from CO), lookng for pke. The bank access is extremely limited, but it's a beautitful lake. We're planning on trying it out a little later this spring with a canoe. You can buy the permit at the lake. I think it was $6/person. You can also rent boats and motors there for a pretty reasonable rate.
  6. I have a sit in and liked it very much in CO, but haven't used it here (NOVA) yet. The sit-in will keep you and your stuff drier usually, but past that it's probably a wash. Both of those are going to be really small to fish out of though, mine's a 14 fter. We also got a 14 ft Mad River canoe from Dicks and that thing is SWEET to fish out of, might be another direction you could go.
  7. Short-time lurker, first time poster- Nah , It works from the bank too, but it does help to have deep water close to the bank. It takes some time to learn how to do it effectively (I'm still working on it).
