New Spinning rod advice
This weekend there are several places online with great deals. *** and BassTackle Depot come to mind. Both of these sites are offering 20% off, but they end on Monday at the latest. With those savings, I'd recommend a Powell. Both of these sites ship orders over $50 free, even rods. You could have one delivered for about $110...that's a steal. If your not sure about which model will suit your needs, check out the Powell website at www.Powellco.com. Again, I'd recommend a long, MH rod. I'd go with an X-Fast rod if you will use this rod for jigs/plastics the vast majority of the time. A Fast rod would be the way to go for more of an all-around rod. Hope this helps, good luck. 8-)

You can't go wrong with Roboworm straight tails. I like Berkley 100% fluoro in 8lb.

Spro Little John CB's
Is anyone else drooling at the new Watermelon Red Craw pattern? Picked one up this weekend at TW. Sunny Bream is definitely next.

Have you ever had IT in the can?
As much as I hate Bud products, I have to give them credit for years of great commercials.

New Spinning rod advice
A 7', MH rod should do the trick. What's your budget?

Top Water Setup
For Giant Dog-X's, large Sammy's, etc, I use a Kistler LTA 5'9", MH, XF. This is teamed with a tuned Fuego. For small poppers and other topwater baits in the 1/8-1/4oz size, I use a LTA 6'9" M, F. This is teamed with a Chronarch 51MG. The last set-up is going to used for finesse moving baits next year, as I have my eye on the 6' Daiwa Steez rod for my small topwater duties. For any topwater work, I prefer a rod between 5'3" and 6'...tops.

Line for Crappie Fishing?
I really like Stren Magnathin. You can bump-up a size or two, and not sacrifice line diameter. Though, I would not recommend this line if you plan on fishing heavy cover. My walleye slip-bobber rigs are all spooled with 8lb. Magnathin, and they work great for slabs. It's nice to be able to cover two species with the same setups.

Ultralight baitcasting setup?
For that rod, a Daiwa Pixy would be a great match. It will be way over your budget, but Pixy's always have a great resale value.

What's on ya'lls Christmas List??
I want every Workman's comp claim adjuster to spontaneously combust, and if Santa has time, the 6' Steez rod, a Core 51, and a new cranking rod.

Happy "BASSGIVING" to all the folks here at BR and their families!!!
Well said. Happy Turkey day to all. I'm thankful for all of the 20% off deal at several online tackle shops.

Paca Craw
Another T-rig vote here. A small (1/8-3/16) tungsten bullet weight does the job very well. This year I am going to try some Force Beads for this specific presentation. I have a New Zillion rod on the way, and I have a feeling it's going to see some Paca Craw action. Also, the Baby size is my fav.

2009 The Pennants are flying and the Trash is almost in view!
Hey CJ, I believe we have some unfinished business. Going into this season you owed one crank for the Crew taking the season series over the Cards. We went double-or-nothing this season, and by my math, the season series ended in a tie. Soooo, I guess that'll be one crank please. I'll let you know what kind later. Maybe a DT, a Little John MD, or some type of Shad Rap.

Fenwick Techna AV AVC70MF
Thanks for the replies all. 8-) Rod came this week, and I'm very happy; it's just what it I hoped it would be. I love medium-powered casting rods, and it getting tougher to find one that's not mod, mod-fast, or x-fast. A true fast blank seems to be out of fashion, not unlike reels that are not classified as a burner. I have my eyes set on the 7' M, Zillion rod, and the Fenwick will compliment it nicely: it is a bit slower and will fill in for the duties the faster Zillion will not be best suited for.

How bout them Cowboys!!!!!!
Is that due to the mid 90's drug cartel they signed? I believe you are referring to the Irvin Charter of 1993. I'll keep my mouth shut about the Pack being America's real team. :-X

Shimano Calcutta TE400 musky reel
That reel is one of the best jerkbait, crankbait, Double Cowgirl reels ever.

Fenwick Techna AV AVC70MF
That's encouraging news to hear. Unfortunately I simply cannot afford much in the reel dept for this stick. This was definitely an unplanned purchase; I just couldn't let it go at that price. I still have my original off season list of holes to fill, and it is going to be a bit pricey. I still need to pick up a Fuego rod, a Zillion rod, and a Cumara, a 7' crankin' stick, and at least one more new bc reel. It just doesn't stop. ;D

Megabass Quiet Griffons
I was thinking, and I should rephrase the question, as I forgot about the 0.5 RC. Is the Quiet SR-X Griffon similar to the 0.5 Clunn, but with a wider wobble?
