Chronarch 50mg setup
open up the turnkey dial...2 brakes on, 4 off...then snug-fit the dial back on...don't vise-grip it down...loosen the cast control until the spool quits rocking...will smooth out the reel under heavier loads. great little reel...easily, one of shimano's best efforts and perfect on the mbr782 or bcr803.

Help Needed for All-Purpose Spinning Set Up
sjr783 imx. it does so many things so well, it is the only spinning rod i own anymore.

Mid Level Rod Brands
the cumara line is another good option with lifetime over-the-counter. if you shop, they can be found for under $200.

G Loomis Cranking Rods
cbr845 is the best all-around of the lot, imo...cbr906 for open-water distance...cbr785 for sidearm targets.

Alternative to G Loomis products
never saw a dodge worth $500 either but, at least, i am open to suggestion.

Alternative to G Loomis products
glx and imx are full-carbon scrimmed...is part and parcel of what makes them the "gold standard". afaik, the legend elites and the legend extremes are the only other full-carbon scrimmed rods on the domestic market.

G.LOOMIS XPEDITOR SERVICE
we all do dumb things in life...doing dumb things with fishing poles seems to be one of those things we're especially good at. somewhere in the mix, you gotta ask yourself...is gloomis responsible for $50 worth of replacement when i do a dumb thing to a fishing pole or is gloomis responsible for $100 worth of replacement when i do a dumb thing to a fishing pole? you can replace gloomis here with any other brand name, if it makes you trip your trigger. the xpeditor service is not a warranty whereby you replace a thing that broke thru no fault of your own...it is a service whereby you replace a thing that broke because it is totally the fault of your own. am just saying.

One Combo For the rest of your life...
mbr783 glx steez 103 the line was the hardest part...could get by with either 12# yozuri hybrid or trilene 100%.

Favorite crankbait in the 5-8ft range
flat mini dr. the last few years, it has outproduced all else at that range in my waters for both size and numbers.

Pictures of lipless cranks at rest
well done, micro. btw, dropping and killing the hardcore shad works well here, too.

Put xps Flouro to the test this weekend
the "digging in", in my case, has to do with the hookset...it has nothing to do with spool tension knobs. i thumb the spool on the hookset...while that may/may not be construed as operator error to some/many, the fact remains that, in my hands, the xps digs into itself more often than any fluoro i've used using that method of hookset...at least, in the 12# test. ymmv.

Put xps Flouro to the test this weekend
this is the reason i quit the xps fluoro. liked the line overall...the 12# just seemed to dig into the spool much more often than other fluoros.

Any strict scary dads out there?
actions speak louder than words. any words you speak to them now will fall on deaf ears until such time as your actions back up those words.

Need Help with Reel Selection
bcr803 glx + mg reel = in my hands, the 803 glx is one rod that simply shines with a good mg reel...personally, would shop around for a chronarch 51mg...they can easily be found in your price range.

Skeet Reese Rods From BPS.
we all do things at different speeds...in my case, that shouldn't be misconstrued as trashing. personally, like a mh/xf for plastics, a mh/f for blades and a mh/m for open water cranks...in my hands, the spinnerbait/worm rod is too moderate in action for plastics and blades. for cranks, however, the s/w rod fishes much like a cbr845 (mhm) and, in that and as i have stated, the rod would work well. fwiw, don't like the 845 for plastics and blades either...as i said, we all do things at different speeds. ymmv.

Skeet Reese Rods From BPS.
have only used the spinnerbait/worm rod. hated it for spinnerbaits/worms but, felt it would make a decent crankbait rod.

Shimano Core 50mg vs 100mg - Any good reason to go with the 100?
have owned both and prefer the 50. the 100 is a good reel, it may well be just a bit stouter than the 50...that said, in my hands, it was never quite as smooth as the 50...especially under load. so, it had to find another home.

Ever have a 'DUH' moment while fishing?
brother-in-law lives on a fine lake. pulled back to the dock one evening and, right after unloading the boat, we look across the lake and see 'em jumping crazy in the ole honey-hole. so here we go...practically slobbering with fish-lust, we jump back in the boat and go rocking across the lake...slowed down 1/4 mile away and eased up on 'em...killed the motor and reached down for the... yea...you guessed it...rods and reels were back at the dock...right where we left 'em. .

Curado D Series Update
the 100d's were/are good reels, even without the heg...the 100dsv, if you can find one, held a deeper spool...better for the larger lines. that said, 12# yozuri hybrid on the 100d should work well for your apps.

Favorite single curly tail grub
tend to go with the kalin's 3" in clearer waters. fat alberts in the more stained waters and will add a single arkie's gold blade to the jighead...have caught bass to 6# on that set-up. tail up, fwiw.

curado question
we'll probably see a 100e in 6.1 come icast.
