  1. less expensive gas bills
  2. Remember the "good ol days" we all had Zebco 202s. If you wanted to reel faster, you did. Fishing, unless your making a living at it, is all about fun. If you like 7:1,6.4:1, or 5:1, go out and buy it. It's all good!
  3. Nobody has said anything about golden shad, but they seem to work fine for me.
  4. Not bad, but I like J Franco's quote on Vanish best... Yeah, but you won't see the Tidybowl man using Vanish
  5. Vanish, isn't that the stuff you put in the toilet bowl?
  6. There you go can't beat 80 bucks! I have one in my kayak great for reading structure, at first you'll spend too much time playing with it, looking for fish. Then just to see bottom, trees, etc.
  7. You can usually find some great buys at Cabelas. I have a Fishmark 320 that's portable/self contained. Comes with it's own rechargeable motorcycle battery. You can mount the transducer by suction cup (included) or on your trolling motor (not included). Haven't looked the up recently, but I bet they (or something similar) is under $200. If you are near a Cabelas, you might be able to find something cheaper/better in the Bargain cave section. Fish often/have fun.
  8. well said. In reality, make six days about her, and if you're lucky you'll have one day for hobbies!
  9. The truth is out there----
  10. Only one thing to do. Pack up your collection of bongs, and practice your moon walk.

Good point! Ha Ha I like that!
  12. So do they use Shimano's or Diawa's?
  13. I'm not big on ugly sticks. Crankin Sticks go on sale at least once a year, and unlike some, I like their grips. Put one on Santa's list
  14. I seriously doubt it, can't be any more stress than catching a big 'un.
  15. Berkley Cherrywoods are less than $20 at Wallmart. Not a great rod, but not bad for the money. A 6'6'' or 7' wouldn't be bad to learn on. For that price keep it for a back up, or loaner.
  16. The Hobie Mirage Adventure Island looks like it would be fun. Not really for fishing, but a nice toy. Has a sail, outriggers, and their peddling device.
  17. I considered one, but they seem pretty heavy to me, but that only matters when you transport/carry it. I also wondered about the paddle/peddle system when encountering weeds or shallows. If you are serious about one try or rent one for the day and see what YOU think. After all your opinion is the only one that counts.
  18. Great story, great crew, thank you for sharing.
  19. Just in case jet skis aren't obnoxious enough--- :

Beautiful!!! ALMOST too pretty to use---Almost!
  21. Some baits, you still need to make a long cast. Spooks and poppers, crankbaits, etc. Never had a problem with that. Maybe you're different. The only lure that needs a long cast would be a deep running crankbait. Everything else could be a moderate cast. It doesnt really matter. I think its more of a mental thing than anything else. When Im on the yak, I dont "feel" like I have to make a super long cast. When Im on the shore, I sometimes do and the cast becomes forced and not as smooth. I really dont want to start an argument here. Im just trying to help out the OP and let him know some of the things that I am going thru with a baitcaster. I agree, on all points. :-}

It sounds like you were joking, but I think it's a good idea.
  24. That is what I was trying to say. I mainly fish from my yak, and since you can move closer to your target you don't need to force your casts.
  25. You are less likely to "snap" cast in a yak. You'll do fine.
