A Swimbait in the Making--FINISHED
Looking good. Judging from the number of inquiries you already have, it sounds like you need to go ahead and set up a production line.

What to Do??
There are lots of things you can do with any degree. There are a lot of places that will hire you just for a degree regardless of what the degree is in. What the degree shows them is determination and ability to learn new concepts. They will teach you what it is that they want you to know, but by having the degree you have demonstrated that you are capable of learning something new. That's not to say you can become a brain surgeon with a degree in art, but you get my point. Another option that you may want to consider is joining the military. They will pay 100% of your tuition while on active duty as well as providing you with additional educational benefits to use after leaving the military. And thanks to the bill passed last month in congress, any of those benefits that you don't use after leaving the military can now be passed on to your dependents (for ten years after leaving the military). Another good thing the military will do for you is to provide you additional time to discover yourself and decide what it is you do want to do with your future. Who knows, you might even decide that you like the military and want to stay there. I joined up for a four year stint to take some time away from college and retired 22 years later with a degree to boot and am now two years into my second career. I'm not trying to recruit you...it's nothing to me either way. And I'm not saying the military is for everyone because it most definitely is not. I'm just suggesting another option that you may want to think about. Good luck in whatever you choose.

Whats the strangest way you've seen people fishing?
I watched a guy last year who had come to the river to spend the afternoon with his girlfriend, evidently without advanced fishing plans. I watched as he searched around the bank, found some fishing line, searched around some more unitl he found a hook, then tore a small piece from a styrofoam cup which he wedged onto the line for a float. He then flipped over a few rocks until he found a worm and then he and his girlfriend proceeded to catch bluegills right and left with his impromptu fishing rig. Perhaps not that odd, but very innovative and McGyverish. Another type of fishing that I find odd although I guess is somewhat common in some areas is noodling/grappling (grabbling?) for catfish. http://www.cabelas.com/information/cabelas-field-guides/Catfish-Techniques/Noodling-for-Catfish-The-Ultimate-Thrill-in-Fishing.html

Rain
I wish I had tried this on Saturday. I started out the day well getting four fish in about an hour. Then a thunderstorm moved in that caused me to leave the water for about 30 minutes or so. After it passed, I went back to the same and similar areas that I had been to before the storm but had no luck for the rest of the day.

Battery Questions
My trolling motor battery seems that it isn't lasting as long as it used to. Anyone know of any tips to prolong its charge or do I just need to buy a new battery? Does it harm a battery to be partially discharged and recharged often or would it be better to fully discharge it before recharging it again? Is it alright to leave it on the charger continuously (it's an automatic charger). Will it harm a deep cycle battery to recharge it off a car engine with jumper cables? They are both 12V systems, but I understand there is a difference in the type of charge a car produces vice a slow electric trickle charger. When buying a new battery, are the deep cycle marine batteries worth the cost to use on just a trolling motor or will a regular auto battery work just as well? Lots of questions here I know, but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Fair Day
I made it onto the water today although somewhat later than what I would have liked. I went out around noon and when I arrived at the ramp, another guy was bringing his boat in. He shook his head, said the water was too hot. He hadn't caught anything all morning. I put my boat in, went across the river to one of my favorite spots and caught four fish and broke off another two in less than an hour Then it started raining. I stuck it out. They it started lightning and I high-tailed it to shore. The storm passed in about 30 minutes. I got back on the water and fished the rest of the day without catching another fish. Odd how they can turn off so fast. The water was 81 degrees before the storm and about 79 afterwards. Here are the pics. Nothing special really (largest one went 2-12), but I'm wondering about the red streaks in their tails. Spawn is well past. Anyone have any ideas what causes this?

Boats & Guns
Short answer is no. Longer answer is that guns aren't allowed in Korea, so be thankful for the second amendment rights that we share in America although some are trying to take that right away. (We did have a great victory in that regards just last week at the Supreme Court level that I'm thankful for but I'll have to stop here before I incur the wrath of the mods for political content). When I was living in Monterey, CA a few years ago, I went out with a friend fishing for salmon. It was extremely foggy (as it normally is about 300 days of the year in Monterey). There is an oddity about salmon fishing and sea lions. Salmon aren't part of the natural diet for a sea lion. They can't even catch them themselves. But they follow the fishing boats when they go out, and if you hook up with a salmon, the sea lion will try to steal it before you can get it to the boat. The sea lions don't even eat the entire fish. They just eat the gut portion and then they are finished. So we are out fishing and out of the fog, we hear the distinct sound of a .22 caliber rifle being fired from not too far away in the fog. I asked my friend about it and he said it probably was a fisherman shooting at a sea lion that was trying to take his fish. I was a bit concerned since, due to the fog, there is no way the guy who was shooting could know whether there was anyone else (possibly, and most importantly, even me!) in the direction in which he was firing.

Wife's First Bass
I don't know the exact measurements but it is about 4 ft. inside and about 6 ft. to the outer edges.. If I remember, I'll measure it the next time I have it out. It is very stable. No problems standing up in it. The two things that I like about it best over the Sea Eagle are the pedestal seats and the hard floor. There are three wooden slats that go underneath the floor that you can't see in the photo. Also, there is another narrow air chamber (6" wide?) that runs down the middle from front to back that provides additional support to the floor. The rubber on this one is firmer than what the Sea Eagle is made from too. The downside is that it takes up more space, but that is to be expected since the boat itself is two feet longer than the Sea Eagle 9 that I had. Assembly is a breeze too. First time using it only took about 30 minutes to get into the water and 30 minutes out. (That was without an electric pump, which I plan to get.) Hopefully, I can improve on that with practice.

Looking at Pflueger President combo
I can't speak directly for the President model, but I have the Medalist which I really like. I let a friend of mine use it while he was waiting for the reels (x4) (Penns if I recall correctly) that he ordered to arrive. He used mine for two weeks. When his arrived, he used one of them for one day, and returned the other three with plans to order Pfluegers to replace them.

Wife's First Bass
I failed to snap a picture of my entire boat while I was out, but here is a commercial photo of it. The total length is about 11 feet. The main differences in the one pictured and mine are: 1) I don't have the motor (yet )...just an Endura 55 transom mount TM. They still owe me the front mounting bracket too, so my TM is mounted on the back. 2) I have only one swivel seat and another bench seat, but I do have both of the seat mount floor boards and they connect, so it is mostly a hard bottom. Also, I got the cheaper model of seat (round). The shaped seat like the ones in the photo cost about $160 each. The round ones are about half of that price. 3) I have a four-rod holder that mounts on the side which I really like. There's plenty of room for two people to fish. I'm really liking it so far. I had a Sea Eagle 9 before this and although I really liked that, I like this one MUCH better although it cost a lot more too. It is more stable, firm floor, and about two feet longer. The pedestal seat makes a world of difference too. They make a front deck for them for a deck mounted foot controlled TM. If you are interested, here is the website for them http://www.codam.co.kr/ (It is in Korean but the different models are listed on the lefthand side of the page. The prices are in Korean won too, and the current exchange rate is about 1010 won to the dollar). If you have any questions, let me know.

I received it in a packet of promotional lures I received from somewhere. Threw it in the odds & ends box of tackle and have never used it. It doesn't have the four corner appendages on it like the hairy hawg but just lots of legs on each side. I'll snap a picture of it and post it later.

Those are some fat fish! How did you rig/fish the hairy hawg? I've got something similar to that but never used it. Nice pics. Keep 'em coming.

Wife's First Bass
I had a fantastic evening of fishing today. My new inflatable boat finally came in yesterday so this afternoon, my wife wanted to go out in it with me for the first time. She has never bass fished before, just a few bluegill from the bank with worms and a bobber when we would go on a family outing. Well, we get out in the boat (it's awesome by the way) and I fix her up with a spinning outfit rigged with a tube thinking that wouldn't be too hard to fish. She tried for a while without any luck and then said she wanted a bobber. : Well, since I didn't have any, I figured the closest I could come to that would be a dropshot setup. I rigged it up for her and explained how to fish it. Just throw it out, wiggle it a bit, and move it every now and then. First cast, she gets a hit but misses because she just started slowly reeling in. She's excited now. I explain about setting the hook. She throws out again and gets another bite on the next cast. This time she throws a hookset on the fish that KVD would have been proud of. She's fighting the fish and doing alright until it broke the top of the water and splashed around. She wasn't ready for this and at this point is trying to give me the rod to bring the fish in. I refuse to take it but finally get her to fight the fish to the side of the boat where I lip it. It goes at around a pound but to her, it was Jaws! Here's the picture. Yeah, just hanging on the line because she wouldn't touch it either. Looks like I have some training ahead. I'm looking forward to it and hope she becomes a regular. We had a blast.

Dodgers win 1-0 without a hit!
By KEN PETERS, AP Sports Writer LOS ANGELES (AP)The Dodgers became the fifth team in modern major league history to win a game in which they didn't get a hit, defeating the Angels 1-0 on Saturday night. The Angels' Jered Weaver pitched six hitless innings before he was lifted for a pinch-hitter, then Jose Arredondo pitched the next two innings. Since the Dodgers didn't have to bat in the ninth, the game doesn't qualify as a no-hitter. It was only the fifth such game since 1900, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Tournament Story
I currently live just outside Osan Air Base, but I commute to Yongsan in Seoul every day to work. I have been to all the places you mentioned before I retired from the army a couple of years ago. I was assigned to 2ID a couple of times and was stationed in Uijongbu and Dongduchon. US forces turned the DMZ over to the Koreans a few years ago and a lot of the military bases have shut down now. You probably wouldn't recognize this place now if you were last here in 64. I first came here in 86 and have been here back and forth for about 16 years since then and I can hardly believe the changes myself even as I see them happening. This place is developing FAST! Any direction you look, it looks like a crane farm because of all the high rise apartments going up everywhere. Traffic gets worse by the day too in spite of gas being $8 per gallon over here. As far as fishing, I fish both lakes and rivers. Those rivers up around the area where you were statitoned are supposedly good trout waters, although I've never fished there.

Wow. That's gotta suck. Hopefully there were no injuries. Be careful when you are out there.
